Heather McTaggart and her team are fantastic. I trust my pups in their care, and you ought to consider the same!

Dr. Heather and the staff at 4Paws is super compassionate especially when your sweet Pup is at her end of life stage. They were very accommodating to me and my family's needs and managed the situation with care. Dr. Heather explained everything in advance and allowed us to gather together under a tree for the services. The office even stayed later in the afternoon to meet our schedule. Highly recommend. In addition, I found 4Paws to be the most reasonably priced vet office in Central Illinois. The office does not overcharge or price gouge - thank you 4Paws.

We have two golden doodles that are a little over one year. We have recently moved back to this area from living in Al. We had an amazing vet in Al. At our first visit with 4 Paws we requested that our pups nails to be trimmed. They “cut” the nails so badly that they bled for awhile after the appt. We decided at that point that the trimming would be done by a professional groomer in the future. Fast forward to today 7/18/23. Our groomer called during our grooming appt for one of our doodles. She informed me that our baby had a large splinter in her hip and that she should be seen right away because it appeared to be infected showing signs of drainage and that she should be seen asap. I called our vet 4 Paws. The receptionist was very short stating that they could not see our baby until Thursday. It’s Tuesday… this is an infection.. I explained this to her. She seemed very dismissive stating that would be the only appt that they could offer. I explained that this is an emergent issue and what could they do for her?? This is their patient?! She said she would talk to the vet and call me back… a few hours later they called me backTo tell me that I COULD WASH THE WOUND OUT WITH EPSOM SALTS MYSELF and that the vet would get an antibiotic ready to be picked up..ALSO STATED THAT SHE WOULD NEED TO FOLLOW-UP on the wound.. what?!?! UNBELIEVABLE !I informed them that I made other arrangements and found a wonderful caring vet that seen her immediately and they can send me all of our records. I should have listened to the bad reviews before going to 4 Paws. It is not what it was years ago. Save yourself the trouble and give your animals better care by going anywhere other than here.

I have taken several of my pets to Dr. McTaggart, and she has always gone over and beyond to care for them. They always get me in very quickly especially when any of my pets are having unexpected issues. Most recently, our Great Dane was having breathing issues, and they came in after hours to check on her and do X-rays to find out what the issue was. Because it was a pneumothorax, a very complex issue, and she is such a huge dog, no vets around here could treat her for it, but Dr. McTaggart’s office made numerous calls to U of I vet Clinic so we were able to transfer her there where they had to do a major chest surgery on her to save her life. Dr. McTaggart’s office called me numerous times to check on her the week that she was there. They definitely care so much for their patients. I also take my sweet, old, diabetic cat there for his treatment, and they are wonderful with him. He loves going there and loves all the ladies! We are extremely lucky to have such a caring vet office in Washington!

I use to like this place, but the last few times , I have went there they have been very unfriendly. They don't even examine your dog in front of you nomore. They don't ask you if you have any concerns or questions. The doctor comes in and calls my female dog a he. She takes dog in back and two minutes later says all done. You don't even know if they did the shots. I will never be back!!!!

I just saw a post on fb where someone found a cat with a collar and took it to 4 Paws. 4 Paws posted the cat’s picture and ask if anyone wants the cat. After two days gave the cat away!! They finally told the owners but wouldn’t tell them who has her. Shameful!

I never write reviews anywhere and its taken me a really long time to actually do this. We used to take our 2 cats here and we actually really loved it. We ended up having to put our beloved cat down and the situation I had to go through was terrible and I don't think any pet owner should have to do what I did. This all happened on 4/24/2020 right when covid began. The first thing was that we were not able to go into the vet at all. I had to drop my cat off at the front door and then wait for someone to pick him up and I wasn't allowed into the room. I was then told that you will have to wait for us to euthanize him and then come back and pick him up and take him to the funeral home. I had to wait for them to put my cat down and then they gave me him back in plastic bag. It was the worst day of my life and I hope no other person has to go through that.

I honestly like this place I like the idea of having an appointment rather then a walk in who knows how long you’ll wait at a walk-in clinic. I rather set up an appointment and go there and they’ll be waiting for me. Not me waiting on them. Walk ins aren’t always the best in my opinion. I recommend all you pet owners like me, to take your pet here get set up in there system. And just set an appointment. It’s easy and why wait at a walk in clinic.

I just want to let pet owners know that this office does not allow owners into new patient appointment even after the governor has moved the state into phase 5 as an open state. I asked if I could go in with my 2 dogs as it was their first time being seen at this office. Both are skiddish of new places and people I was told that the office is waiting for ISVMA clearance to allow pet owners in. After leaving the office I decided to call and ask why I wasn't told that all appointments were drop offs and was told that there are new people working and they must have forgotten. I attempted to explain to the woman on the phone that I had heard great things about this office and drove all the way from Kewanee to come to this visit she repeatedly just said okay in an annoyed tone. After I spoke with her I called the ISVMA in Springfield and was told that there is no such clearance, that all that needs to be done is follow CDC and local guidelines, which now means only masking if you are unvaccinated. I cannot believe the unprofessional attitude I was given from this office. If I would've been told this over the phone I wouldn't have scheduled the appointment and made the trip down to Peoria. I will be making an appointment with another vet.
