Due to a wedding I was forced to stay at this hotel again after saying I would never stay here again. Nothing has changed.
Why a 1? Because the standards Hyatt is holding its franchises to has dropped and this property appears to strive no higher than the minimum.
Well, first the room is outdated and pretty small. ZERO UPDATING IN A YEAR. ZERO USB ports. ZERO surface mounted outlets. No night lights on anything. No mini microwave. It also suffers from the "towel shelf in the actual shower" syndrome which only is necessary on Tiny House Nation. I hate damp towles.
The one amenity in the room, the refrigerator, was not functional .
Now moving on to breakfast. You have Red Roof Inn continental breakfast of toast and bagels. You have the other Hyatt property that is on the same street which has made to order omelets and continuously made bacon and sausage. This is in-between Red Roof and the more substantial one next door. It rates towards the low end of the spectrum. Microwave bagged eggs. Microwave French toast. A few cereals. Toast and such. And exactly the same thing every day three days in a row.
The building lacks security with many of the lights in the back of the building being out.
The staff was acceptable but nobody really went out of their way to do any more than required. Included in that is the every other day "MINI" room servicing with Every forth day actual cleaning. COME ON GUYS COVID IS OVER
Orriginal reviw:
Apparently commonwealth hotel management has fired the person who responds to social media
In all fairness I graded this against all other business class hotels I have stayed at. My wife made the reservation based on staying before at this and the sister property.
This is the worst stay I have had in years. For one, for the price I would have expected the rooms to have had outlets installed with charging ports in them minimally by desk and bed area. Just a simple thing mostcall business class hotels have done. NOT THIS ONE
But that is trivial to all that had happened.
First, I am asking Hyatt to refund our stay because the hotel would only refund $60 for two nights and that was not exceptable. Second, I am asking Hyatt to review the properties compliance to Hyatt standards. Third, I am adding the Commonwealth Hotel Management Company (the hotel owners since Aug 2021) hotels to the list of hotels we will never stay at. The experience is ridiculous since it is not a holiday weekend. The Napperville area has lots of other choices to stay at.
Rooms: I expect some real basic amenities in a hotel when we stay. For one hot water. We told them Saturday morning there was no hot water. They must have known something was wrong since they said to run the water. When we got back Saturday night they were offering partial refunds. They say thier repair team can not be out until Monday. That is totally bull crap. I work in industry. There is nothing in a boiler system that can not be fixed in a couple hours. They do not want to pay the premium. And after reviewing a review from a week ago where the same problem occurred, it sounds like they did nothing to fix the issue yet kept taking reservations (just my opinion)
But that is not the only issue. Our room toilet moves and interferes with the door. Oh this occurs since they added elongated toilets. You have to stand in the show to open the bathroom door.
The refrigerator never cooled the soda.
Safety: There were hords of teans shooting nurf guns at people in the parking lot and no employee to be found. Then again it is hard to find any employee in the front of the house.
Walkability: None. And nowhere to eat within about a half mile. It is out near office complexes.

What a great hotel experience. Hotel was clean and staff was kind and helpful. Rob was exceptionally helpful, professional and kind, and provides informative information re: area, dining and hotel amenities. The breakfast was good, room was quiet and beds were comfortable. Kids had fun swimming in the pool. Easy parking and easy access to highway.

I really like this hotel. The rooms are big and really nice. Beds are very comfortable, theres a nice desk, bar area, couch. The location is great - right off the interstate, a central spot between several great restaurant areas and entertainment options (Main Event, Top Golf, Whirly Ball, and more). The actual staff is 5 stars. Everyone I've seen working the front desk and bar is super friendly and helpful. I docked service a star though because Hyatt just needs an additional person helping up front more of the time.

Room itself was nice. Good location for our visit and convenient to many local attractions. My wife found the beds to be slightly high for her (she is 5 feet tall) and the mattress too soft. We believe Hyatt can do better with the toilet paper. Single layer, very thin makes for a lot of wasted paper and hard to use. Maybe a bit picky, but they asked ?

I'm staying here right now, and the hottest the hot water gets is maybe 80. Turn your hot water heater up, you cheapskates!

Great place, Hotel staff professional & informative. Very knowledgeable about the local area. I noticed it was a family & pet friendly hotel. I would recommend the Hyatt Place to my out of town guest.

Stayed here with family. Booked a room with two beds and ended up with a 1 bed and a pull out couch. They gave us 1 pillow and a blanket with a stain on it for the pull out couch. The Olympics started and the tv in the room had no signal. We didn’t see one cleaning person the whole 4 days we were there. There was mold all around the shower and took 10 mins to warm up, the pool was slimy and had super dark lighting, the gym equipment is not clean (when we wiped it the wipe came off brown). The hallways are barely lit. The bedding gave us all skin and eye issues, the floor was all gross. The sink in the bathroom didn’t drain unless you pulled out the stopper.
Definitely a place with the definition of “the landlord special”

1st floor public bathroom was out of soap. Lobby is poorly lit and dark. Otherwise, all was good.

Not sure how this hotel has a rating over 4 stars Rooms are clean and the price was decent, but that's it. My biggest complaint was although there's free wi-fi, it's of no value if you can't connect in your room, Our room at the south end of the hotel would NOT connect - yet if I walked 30 feet down the hall toward the elevators, my phone would finally connect. Turned around and headed back to my room, my connection would drop before I'd get to my door. This is the 21st century - The hotel should have better wireless than that. The other big downer was their free breakfast. It's free because after you eat it once, you won't ever touch it again. There are a couple other complaints, but I'll cut off my review here. If you want to use hotel wifi and have an edible breakfast, pop and extra $10+ a night and STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Priceline referred us to this location. We typically stay at the Lisle location but after our first night we have found our new favorite place to stay when visiting the area annually. The staff is beyond courteous and ever so pleasant. Always making sure we are satisfied and comfortable. Our children also enjoy the anemities available (pool/gym) and the breakfast options are delicious and an excellent variety to choose from. It’s well kept and clean and it’s an uplifting atmosphere. Definitely coming back!

They are not cleaning the rooms and replacing the towels daily now. What other 'savings' will they introduce next? And how long before they reach the Motel8 level?

The hotel was very clean but there was only one USB port for a charger and it was on the back side of the TV, which is not the worst but, if you turned off the TV, the charger quit.

Overall this is a nice hotel. The room was clean and quiet. I had breakfast but the coffee was empty. That's my only complaint!!
Other thing is, I wish there was a microwave!
Rooms: Decent sized room but needs microwave!
