I would not give the Virginia IL dollar general any stars.. Bought 3 22lb bags of ice get to the machine it's broke. Manager can't give refund because the cashier threw it away. Only 2 customers after me and they can't find receipt and didn't give my money back??

835 am on a Monday. store is supposed to be open. Nope. No one showed up. Becoming a regular problem.. never know if they'll be open.

The store rarely has working coolers they only have one person to help up front while the manager of the store is nowhere to be found just to find out she’s posting TikToks of the workers and about the store but won’t make sure the staff is well helped or to make sure the store is ever stocked I’ve stood for minutes at a time waiting for someone to help at the register and I have to yell for someone to check me out.

bumped my review up to 2 stars. the cashier I had was awesome. my strange request wasn't questioned and she did it without hesitation! thanks girly!last 3 visits to this store have been more than disappointing.. shelves are empty, several aisles I couldn't get down because of rolltainers or merchandise cluttering the walkway. broken glass down one aisle, food items in with chemicals. I had to wait 9 minutes to be checked out while 3 (THREE!) employees 15 feet away ignored me. then she gave me attitude when she came to check me out. parking lot wasn't any better. trash everywhere but in the trash can. this store needs a REAL Store Manager. What they have now is a joke!also... the photos posted "by owner" are NOT photos of this particular store...

Dollar General is great but have to say some of the managers are unprofessional. Virginia Illinois lost another great employee today because the manager can’t even manage her own people in a professional manner.

Like most places, their shelves spend a good portion of the time empty, but I've noticed that other Dollar Generals have more to offer. I'd say they could use some better leadership.
