While the quality of the furniture is supposed to be top notch, our sectional sofa (leather) showed wear after 6 months. Then at the one yr mark, one of the recliners got stuck about 20% sticking out. When emailing, I was told I was out of warranty but I could contact a company on my own or pay 160, just for them to come out. I have other couches, that look way newer than this one and they were less expensive by quite a lot of money.

Never felt so unwelcome. Needed a rug and coffee table. I guess it wasn't a big enough sale. Old orchard has better staff. Kate did my whole living room beautifully.

I have been a customer for many years and spent substantial amounts of money there. I was most pleased. They recently sent out a promotion which led me to believe I would get $500.00 on the first thousand and 20% more for the price over the thousand. I called to order one item over $1000.00 and wanted to take advantage of the sale. I was told it would not apply to anything which was already on sale. (Just about everything has a sale price plus the coupon said it only did not apply to any "clearance item" of which this item was not. This was clearly a gimmick or fraud to get people in the store. Shame on them! This is not what I have expected from the store I have always worked with. I wont be fooled by their promotions any longer and no one else should be.

We have now been enjoying our new couches, pillows, area rug, and coffee and end tables for the past three months; and we could not be happier. Jessica, a Smithe designer, visited our home and then guided us as we looked at and selected everything from their beautiful showroom. The delivery people arrived with a diagram and placed everything perfectly. We had some questions about the rug, and Smithe sent an expert who answered our questions and offered helpful ongoing care suggestions. It is the first time we have ever furnished a room with such beautiful, high quality, and coordinated furniture; and we are grateful for all of the help Smithe provided.

Awful experience with Judy Carranoza in Client Services. If you have any issues with an order, I suggest you ask to speak with someone other than Judy, unless you enjoy being cut off mid-sentence when trying to ask a question and being spoken to like you're a 5-year old. She was so rude to me that I asked if I could speak to someone else, to which she replied, "I'm the top, there is no one else." And, when I asked her last name, she refused to give it to me. Is this the type of experience that Walter E. Smithe wishes for their customers to have with their Client Services Department? There are plenty of furniture stores and after this experience, I will not be returning to Smithe.

Have been a WES customer for years. Bought several american made pieces including a dining room set and huge leather couch for the family room about 8 years ago- great quality! We always thought WES was a cut above the average store selling generic made in China furniture. SO believing this, we just returned to the Arlington Heights, IL WES to buy a new dining room set, leather living room couch, matching chair, hutch, cocktail table, and end tables - about $16k worth of ehat we thought was higher-end furniture. We told the sales lady we liked WES because furniture is high quality and not made in China. Well, the living room couch, chair, dining room chairs and hutch arrived today and guess what -- they are all made in CHINA!! Additionally, dining room table won't be available for 5 months and other items coming several months apart as well. We had a coupon and took advantage of a sale they were running with a $250 coupon and 20% off. We asked the sales lady if any other sales were coming up and she said no, nothing she's aware of. Then, less than a week later we get an adveristement in the mail from WES for a huge friends and family sale - $500 coupon and 25% off!! So the sales lady lied about furniture made in China and lied about the upcoming better friends and family sale. I have to say, if I knew the furniture they are selling these days is made in CHINA I would have shopped somewhere else - likely anywhere else - that carries cheaper Chinese quality -- and I would expect to pay much less than WES prices. I mean, I thought all their furniture was higher-end but they apparently are now mixing-in the same Chinese made furniture that can be bought anywhere. The stuff we purchased looks nice but I don't believe it will last upon closer inspection (and knowing it's Chinese made high volume, lower quality furniture). After contacting the lying sales lady who was rarely available and didn't help, we ended-up contacting customer service to complain about the sales pricing. They did relent and provide the better sales incentive, but for lower quality Chinese furniture I likely still paid 50% too much. WES just lost a long term, trusting customer.
