Ted’s is hands down the best greenhouse on the south side of chicago. I’m a science teacher, avid plant enthusiast, and a long time customer. Many greenhouses either try or claim to be “the best” but I have not come across it’s equal by far, that includes plant shows/conventions. Honestly the closest place to their selection would be one of the conservatories. I sometimes go there just to look despite being a solid 25 min drive.I wouldn’t suggest any place else

This nursery has by far the best selection of succulents in day trip distance of Chicago. Most of the nurseries within Chicago have only a basic selection of the most common succulents you can find at any store. I was honestly shocked at how many different varieties Ted’s Greenhouse had. It took much self restraint to not walk out with two dozen new plants. The succulents for sale also looked very well cared for. None were etiolated so they were clearly getting more than enough light in the greenhouses.

Phil is the man! If you need a tropical plant consultant, please go to this guy! I was a first time plant buyer and he gave me all the details I needed. He's like the human version of "Plants for dummies" guide.

Probably my favorite greenhouse and nursery, huge selection of very healthy, well cared for plants. Large species variety across all the growing conditions from desert to lush tropical. Excellent selection of perennials and unique trees, prices are competitive and I always find a few gems to add to my landscape and house. Highly recommend this place

HOLY SH*T! This place is amazing. Soooo many plants reasonably priced. Big bummer they didn’t have any butterwort at the time. I had to resist buying more plants. Everything looks well taken care of.

One of the best places to find uncommon and rare succulents and cacti in the midwest that I've come across so far. The plants are extremely fairly priced as well.

The only place I ever want to buy plants! The staff are helpful, while also not being in the way too much. The plant selection is usually abundant and they are way cheaper than going to more local places as they seem to source some of the more popular places in the city and perhaps other surrounding areas.Even if you don't want to buy a plant, just go and breath that yummy air and take in the beautiful green all around

All of their succulents are infested with mealy and bugs and white flies… love their selection but unfortunately this is a huge dealbreaker for me
