It wouldnt let me choose/write anything until now, but i'm very appreciative of the lady (i forget her name) who took the time to explain everything and apologize for all the miscommunications. She was very thorough on what happened with why we didnt get a paw print or ashes. My mom checked for her voicemail and she said whoever left it was nice and clearly nervous to convey the disappointing news that no print was ever made. Honestly my review is for the two desk staff, the girl with long blond hair and especially the girl with black hair. Total lack of compassion, they didnt feel the need to apologize or improve on behaviors for the future. They should not be the front face of the hospital especially in very emotional instances like the death of a pet. I would have liked to return but honestly after the experience with them, i dont think i can trust bringing my cats here with how some staff is very good while other staff is bad. I appreciate the time and clearing up the confusion and the few services i received prior, though expensive, were good.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. They answer any questions I may have and are quick to respond by email or text. I'm very comfortable bringing my furbabies here because I know they will receive the best of care.

Have been coming to this clinic for about 6-7 years. Jess, the receptionist? was nothing but rude and short. I called in asking if I could get an appointment for my dog due to him not being able to jump on the couch or bed the next available appointment wasn't available for 10 days. As my dog is eating normal, walking normal etc this is not an urgent matter but she referred me to the emergency clinic, was very short and rude on the phone. My 7 years with this vet has come to an end. Even if you can't accommodate, customer service is important especially being with the vet for this long.

Horrible office! Dr. Wahl has gone downhill with how he handles things over the years. They don’t accommodate sick dogs, wait times are days out and when you send them a video of what your dog is doing and they go. “Oh you’re dog is fine.” Are dogs supposed to not be able to move? Or eat? After surgery that you did on my dog? I don’t think so. These people don’t care about your animals. We definitely don’t recommend coming here or trust these people anymore. We do highly recommend Dr. Rose on La grange in Orland Park!

On November 25th, we lost our sweet cocker spaniel Kipper. He had been a part of our family for the past almost 10 years. For his entire life, we had taken his to Avenue Animal, right down the street from our house. We found them to be an outstanding vet, especially Dr. Wahl. They got to know our Kipper and truly cared. However, once Dr. Wahl retired, we began noticing some differences, one being a yearly checkup that turned into $750 when Kip was fine. We brushed this off, as we have trusted and worked with them for so many years. The week of Thanksgiving Kip started acting a little off, but he was still eating and drinking and using the bathroom so we didn’t think much of it. However, the Saturday after Thanksgiving Kip had a pretty bad seizure at home. From the seizure, it was clear it was time to call the vet to put him down.We called the vet late morning on Saturday, 11/25, Cindy answered and said they closed at 1 and were booked and couldn’t help her. Thinking it was a fluke, she called back and got the same answer. A vet completely unwilling to help us in our time of need. Some might say, “they don’t have space and they close at 1, what can they do?” But looking through some of the older reviews here, you can see what a kind and compassionate vet Avenue was. People in the same situation as us were taken in last minute on a Saturday, the vet knowing how hard of a day this is for anyone, but after almost 10 years Avenue was leaving us with nothing. We ultimately called Bremen - who I would recommend to anyone - we weren’t a patient there and they had a room ready and a staff full of kind people taking care of us. I truly can’t say enough about them. For Avenue, I think it’s clear there was a change in mission after Dr. Wahl left. This vet has lacks compassion and empathy for what their patients (and their families) are going through. There wasn’t even an attempt to try to take us in, no follow-up to see what happened. I really think for anyone looking for a vet, take note in the most recent reviews, so many of these are from a time when this vet had a different staff who cared. Evidently Avenue no longer does much more than vaccinations or check-ups now, something that wasn’t advertised to us as patients. We’ve heard from others that upon calling Avenue just says to call an emergency vet for most scenarios. If this would’ve been broadcast to us, we would’ve looked elsewhere sooner, as you expect your vet to be there for you - but I think we took the old Avenue for granted. To Avenue Animal - I hope you carry the guilt of leaving your patients high and dry. In our biggest time of need, you decided to close your doors on us. You wasted ample time for our Kip. Somewhere along the way you must’ve lost the reason you became vets and techs and why you’re in this industry - I would think it’s to help people but it’s clear that you’re not doing everything you could to help your patients.

$500+ for two dogs on a first visit. They were not bad vets, but very pricey. They also did not tell me I wouldn't be able to order meds online until after I tried and the order was out on hold.

First time pet owner. I was referred by a close friend. They are so kind and so professional. I can only speak to the 2 doctors we saw (Dr. Lantaw and Dr. Porcelli). The exam rooms look like spa rooms! I'm so happy I went to them. I feel confident they will support me with all of my pet needs (wellness/illness/grooming). Dr's Lantow and Porcelli are extremely personable and knowledgeable.

From appt making & changing, to the appt itself, staff was awesome. The Vet took all the time necessary to address my concerns. It was expensive for me, but outside of that I was pleased at how clean the facility was & with all of the services provided.

I would 100% recommend Avenue animal hospital. I have been coming here for about 5 years. I have multiple dogs that come here and all of them are seen by the 3 veterinarians. Dr Quinlin, Dr Snell and Dr Mottell are all absolutely wonderful. They are caring and compassionate and understanding. The doctors take their time with check ups and address all of my concerns I may have. My dogs are all in various stages of life and the vets here have taken wonderful care of my pooches. All the CVT’s are amazing too. They handle my dogs with such care for everything that needs to be done. The front desk staff are also great, I am always greeted with a smile and they make scheduling appointments and picking up prescriptions a breeze! I appreciate all the workers at Avenue animal hospital, I recommend this vets office to all my friends who have animals.
