Been getting my haircut here for over six years now, and for good reason! Shannon does a great job. I always get a haircut but the shave is a wonderful experience as well. The atmosphere of the shop is great, and it’s always decorated so nicely. If you’re looking for a place to take care of your hair needs, this is the place.

I've been seeing Shannon for close to 3 years so this is a well over-due review. She always cuts my hair exactly how I like it. I went to many barbers when I first moved to DeKalb and no one could get it looking right, they always seemed very rushed and did not blend my hair well. Shannon makes sure it's blended nicely, isn't rushed and even though I get the same cut every time, she makes sure to confirm what cut we're doing and if I'm happy with it at the end.Thank you Shannon!

I have been here twice, once for just a cut, and today for a cut and color/foil. I am very particular about my hair and honestly will cut my own hair before going to a stylist. That being said, I have not been this happy with my hair in a long time. The first time I went to Liz, there wasn’t too much she could do but I still left with a little more confidence than I had going in. After making the decision to grow my hair out and not touching it for 6 months, I went in to get a trim (it was way more than a trim, I have ALOT of hair) and highlights. I changed my mind last minute to blonde face framing and dark brown all over color on the rest.Liz nailed it again. 10/10Edit* edit to say that I have never been comfortable to take a picture immediately after a haircut but today I was. ?

Lexie does such an amazing job! I drive an hour+ from Chicago everytime because I don’t trust anyone else with my hair after having her. She’s so friendly and knows how to execute exactly what I want. I’ve never been disappointed. Definitely see Lexie!!Services: Hair coloring

I’ve been going to Liz for a couple months now after I used to always get my hair done by my family and she has never disappointed! It’s hard to trust a stranger with your hair after so many years of having it done by the same person all your life but she has consistently done an amazing job and made sure to ask about any preferences I have. Lexie has been my expert stylist professional ever since she started her education in this field. Even then, just as now, I’ve found her maturity to exceed beyond her years. I’ve also found her skills to be far above and beyond the standards. Lexie is very gifted in this profession. How so?First, she is a patient and through professional during a consult. She listens very carefully and thoroughly. She asks questions and offers suggestions, before she starts any work. She will advise as to whether an end result will work, or not, and why. (Btw—she has a keen expertise here. Trust it! And if unsure, just communicate. Lexie will engage patiently and expertly.)Next, she doesn’t rush — ever. In over three years of having her as my stylist, I have never felt as if she cuts corners — just my hair (lol). This also goes for color work. My hair is thinning from surgically induced menopause—and she masters highlights in a manner that looks very natural — and that makes my hair appear fuller, by adding tremendous dimension.Lastly, she’s extremely kind. She wants to be sure her clients feel comfortable in her chair and love their results. She waits and responds to any requests for tweaking or whatever it takes to achieve what a client is hoping for at Refuge. Trust that.Lexie is the ultimate professional. I came to Liz very last minute to get my hair done for a wedding and she did an AMAZING job!!! I’ve always been nervous about going to hairstylists because of past issues but she made the whole experience so much fun! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair, and it looks amazing in the wedding photos! She did exactly what I wanted and helped make sure I wasn’t so anxious. Everyone is so friendly and the shop is immaculate! I've been going to Lexie for years and she's always gone above and beyond to make sure I'm thrilled with my hair and comfortable throughout my visit.
