Wow why I never new about this fantastic place before? I love this place I am new here as a member. It is extremely clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I have made new friends here. I been coming to swim almost everyday. The lockers are so clean it has everything you need clean showers. TVs so we can watch any show while drying our hair or getting dressed. The bathrooms wow so clean. I also been goi g to the sauna and steam room. Although right now am struggling with my season allergies it is hard for me to be longer in the steam room but do manage to stay 2-3min. I enjoy the lap pool but it has no shallow side so for me to get out of the pool is challenging since I am very petite in height. The warm water pool is extremely enjoyable. However is sumner time and it is filled with many kids which I love but for many elder patrons do tell the not to splash I laughed amused at that request because how can you go swimming and demand kids not to splash lol the point here is you are at already inside the pool enjoy it and do not be a Karen !! The manager at this place is so kind and polite I wished I new about this long ago but I will be coming for the rest of the year yay

HORRIBLE. Theifs. Liars. This establishment is the worst by far!!!! The pool is over crowded 9/l0 times. It's only open certain times of the day that are extremely inconvenient for working adults. They are EXTREMELY overpriced and the amenities are not great. Staff is very unprofessional and has no clue to what's going on really 99 percent of the time. I cancelled my membership 5th of the month on the 15th of that same month they charged my card the fee for my family and an additional fee for when customers don't have enough money to pay the fee except the monthly charge came out with no issue??? Then refused to refund me my money saying it's in the agreement I signed when no one read me anything? Horrible wouldn't recommend to anyone.. so fast forward to the week after Mark the supervisor said he refunded my money and he did NOT. Going in today. Update it's March 27they cut my check to my old address even though they knew I moved and shorted me on the amount as well then proceeded to tell me that I would have to find my check and get it to myself or they will cancel it for 30$ and take the fees out of my already shorted check. Bulllshit.

The KishYMCA has been my workout space for several years now, and I am grateful for the committed efforts of group/team workout leaders, personal trainers, and desk staff for their quality service as well as genuine helpfulness and friendliness. The machines, weights, and other equipment in the Wellness center are well-maintained, modern, and quickly repaired or replaced when needed, and the overall room (as is the whole facility) is clean and well-organized. They updated the locker rooms a few years ago to more contemporary standards with better lighting, carpet, wood-paneled lockers (as available or ones you can rent for a period of time), nicer individualized showers, and saunas as well as steam rooms. I understand the pre-school and the separate child care space/program are both well-run and clean, and that they have quality volunteer programs, swim lessons, and summer or holiday vacation/afterschool programs that seem popular (and fun for the kids). They have a huge arena fit for hockey, indoor soccer, and basketball (open gym times and for kids sports events). Nice spaces for racquetball as well. I know they have a top-notch swim team (as well as a nice pool for it). I do feel like their progress in advancing new services has slowed since the pandemic--possibly b/c it seems membership has fallen and also due to labor shortages (temporary problems, hopefully). Hours are convenient, and the membership fees are reasonable for access to a diverse array of work out experiences (this is to be contrasted with cheaper fitness centers that offer only limited services like weights and treadmills). I get an employee discount for working with NIU, and I think there may be other discounts for other employees you should inquire about. Parking is good, except for when there are swim teams that consume MOST of the spaces. They used to block off space with a minder for gym members, but I have not seen that in a while. Overall, this is a good place to workout.

This is the worst place to send your kid to for almost any program. The before and after school as well. All staff is unorganized, and no one seems to have a clue as to what’s going one you speak to someone one day and think things is settled and BAM next week it’s not. My friends who have kids also experienced the same problems. Just always keep record and have whoever you speak to write down and initial what they are saying to you.

The gym would be much better if hours are were later than 9pm. One of the major factors that has me reconsidering gyms. At least closing at 11pm would be more applicable for people with altering schedules.

First time back in 15 months. Place was clean as a whistle. My locker was just as I left it. Sauna and steam was open. Towel service rolling. Pool was open. People are so friendly and helpful. Kate was closing for first time and helping everybody. Jordan was the lifeguard and going out of his way to help us and others. Was a special night for my 7 yr old grand niece, who swam the entire length of the pool and the treaded water for 60 seconds!!! She was practicing for a swimming test tomorrow. YMCA has family rooms with showers, which was great for her to use on her own while I waited outside door. Thank you YMCA for being such a great quality and trusted family oriented institution!

I have used many gyms and this is far the most expensive. I signed up to use their heated pool because of the arthritis through out my body. All of a sudden I am told I can only use the pool at very inconvenient times. They said they have classes and even with those that have small amount of people I am not allowed to use the pool. They did tell me for more money I can take a class. I am already paying around $50 a month plus $75 to join. Then another $20 a month for a class. They then told me to use the lap pool which has no stairs and is not heated. With arthritis the cold water causes the joints to become even more painful and with arthritis in the knees I can’t use the ladder. They pretty much told me tough luck and they can do nothing for me.

My problem is with the rec pool schedule. I was told that I can only use the pool at 1pm or 5pm on certain days. I specifically signed up to use the heated pool because of arthritis. now I am told I can’t use it because of swim classes. They allow 20 people in the pool but if a swim class has 8 that one person swimming laps is to many
