I would look for a real tax professional and not one who emails in a rude and condescending tone. One would think Richard would pick up the phone to get clarity if he had questions about documents and tax forms sent in by the client.....but not rich. Oh no he would much rather take out his tax time frustration and berate you via email for forgetting a document or not being up on all the tax laws yourself. Well I'm a nurse so I know my job perhaps know yours better Rich and you wouldn't feel so stressed. Rude.

I switched to R MacDonald & Associates after being with another accounting firm for several years. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Rich is a consummate professional and Roxanne is always friendly and very helpful. Rich brought issues to my attention that my other accountant failed to address. I feel very comfortable asking questions, and Rich takes the time to make sure I understand. I would recommend R MacDonald to anyone needing an honest and skilled accountant.

Having owned a small business since 2002, R MacDonald & Associates has been with me since day one. I highly recommend Rich and his team. Initially, they helped file the necessary paperwork to establish my business entity. As my business has grown, they have given valuable advice on purchasing equipment, answered payroll questions and assisted with the purchase of a commercial property for my business. Beyond helping me understand the "numbers", Rich has also served as a business mentor and coach. His advice has helped save and make me money through the years. He has a conservative, play-it-safe approach to finances. Every year when I sign off on my tax returns, it's great peace of mind knowing that Rich has my back.

When my husband died he worked with me for several years to straighten things. He knows his business and does it with heart.

Overwhelmed and Utterly Unprofessional! DON'T USE THIS CPA FIRM! PLEASE READ TO THE END... We came to R. MacDonald & Associates by way of referral several years ago. My wife and I are retired and own a small consulting firm - a very simple tax client. We met with CPA MacDonald on April 8, 2019. We left the meeting with 2 unanswered questions. That same day, I emailed answers to those questions and informed him about a minor correction to our business income. He replied with a sarcastic email about being "better prepared next year". On April 15th we arrived at his office to sign our return and noticed that he hadn't made any corrections. When we questioned this, he literally jumped back with his arms in the air, asking "What do you want me to do about it?" (REALLY?) He then started yelling, (YES YELLING) "I don't have to take this kind of abuse from you" and bolted from the room with our tax documents yelling, "find another accountant!" We were SHOCKED AND STUNNED! A few minutes later he came back with extension forms and ordered us to leave his office. My wife told him he was acting "unprofessionally" to which he replied that we were "horrible clients" - then pointed to the door and ordered us to leave!!! This bizarre behavior came without ANY provocation on our part. His actions were REPREHENSIBLE, INEXCUSABLE, and utterly UNPROFESSIONAL. Even more troubling is that we had placed out trust in this guy, and he knowingly attempted to have us sign an inaccurate tax return! You have to question how many times he's done this to other clients in the past. We filed formal complaints with the ICPAS, the AICPA, and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. DON'T USE THIS CPA FIRM!
