Quite literally the most bizarre, unprofessional, and backwards experience I have ever honestly had. Between the Manager and employee fighting over who was going to help us, to doing absolutely doing nothing to help us with the plethora of issues we faced before even leaving on our trip, and then later, just a continued sh*tshow with the rental altogether, I implore you to go elsewhere. Hertz is an absolute joke. This location in particular is just absolutely wild and truly not worth dealing with. The gal up front that was quite literally the only one that was trying to help us or cared to, all while also being cursed and yelled at when trying to bring this to the managers attention, and simply because she was trying to do her job when three grown men couldn't be bothered to. Thank you to her for being incredibly patient, kind and understanding. Maybe hire more people like her to do the job three grown men seemingly couldn't.

They come and sprayed car to try to get rid of smell. Was fine till next day then smelled like someone had smoked weed in it. Had no choice but to put up with it as had to get on road. Was not enuf air freshener in the world to get rid of smell. TERRIBLE!!!

Caveat Emptor!! Terrible service and deceptive business practices seem like the norm here. I wish I’d read the reviews of this location before we rented from here.TL/DR: Seems like they have a sterling reputation at this location. Our experience confirmed that their reputation is well earned.Here’s the long version;Rented a sedan through this location. Was on a tight schedule. Staff was super apathetic from the start of the interaction. Seemed like we were bothering them by renting a car from this location.Endured the pathetic service and condescension to stay on schedule. Will spare you the minor details.Car brought up. The gentleman who’d been “helping” us insists that we sign the vehicle inspection document before we see the car. We were taken aback by his insistence and caved.Hands us the keys and makes a big deal of telling us that the car is pristine. I stepped out and did a walk around. Immediately it was apparent that both passenger doors had been damaged and someone had done a poor job of trying to cover up the damage. Telltale damage to the adjacent body molding. Both wheels on passenger side had extensive damage. Paint had scorch marks, possibly from the terrible attempt at fixing the damage. Possible heat gun use. Car reeks of marijuana. Smell is unbearable.Summoned the disinterested gentleman to inform him of the obvious deception. He sighs deeply and makes a big show of “updating” our vehicle inspection. Informed him of the smell. Another exasperated sigh. Again claims that he has “made a note”. Shrugs indifferently when we asked about another car. No attempt at an apology or service recovery. Had we not clarified these issues proactively, we would have been on the hook for thousands of dollars worth of “damages”. Easy to see why Hertz and this location do not have a poor reputation.At this point, they are 5 minutes from closing. He is clearly not interested in helping us. No choice but to take the car offered. We drive off in the car hoping to get some help from Hertz customer service.Contacted Hertz customer service through social media. Their solution was to exchange the car. They seem to be unaware that all locations in our region were closed.Requested the customer service agent to escalate the matter to their customer service VP and requested a call back from the location/ regional manager. Offered only platitudes. No service recovery and no assurances of escalation/ apology.Have little hope for redressal since you cannot shame the shameless.Caveat Emptor!!

Cars are filthy. Service is non existent. Once again, awful service. It was too hard for Joe to get off his behind to inspect the car before I left so when I insisted to have the inspection done, he abruptly got up off his chair, slammed his hands on his counter and stormed out. I asked "what's with the attitude" in front of his 2 co-workers, and he replied "no attitude sir." Worst customer service ever, worst cars ever when picking up at this location. The car we picked up this year smelled like wet stinky socks when you turned on the AC. The Hertz people in Chicago are so much better than these pathetic lazy workers.

Not only terrible service, but terrible vehicles. They will change you for services you did no request or authorize. Need customer service? The manager will threaten you with PHYSICAL violence. Luckily for everyone he is a weasely little chump. Be sure to use Enterprise.

The worst customer service I have ever encountered from a transportation agency.Rented a car well in advance of travel. I'm the kind of person that understands extra fees and I try to smile and grit my teeth through it.All of that depends upon actually being given a car, though, and despite assurances that we would have a rental waiting, was told that they already rented their entire stock when I arrived.No problem, I was assured that in 45 minutes two more cars would arrive and I would get one of those.No word from them so NINETY minutes later I called and was told those two cars were also already rented to people. No ETA on a new vehicle. I asked if I would get the next rental that showed up. Keep in mind this is over 4 hours after our rental time, by which I should have been arriving at my destination.After FOUR HOURS of this, I was told that I was "on a waiting list" for a car, of which I was the third person in line. Meaning I was actually initially the fifth person in line. Oddly enough this was the first time a "waiting list" had been mentioned in this process.Look. I'm as understanding of a person as possible. I try to always see the other side of things and understand that things happen and there are more variables than I can count on the other side of the counter. To wit, this is my first negative review I've left in more than a decade.But after 4 hours:0 cars.0 notices.0 updates or contact attempts by Hertz.0 mention of a wait list.0 concessions or anything offered other than the most token "I'm sorry" ever, effectively stranding myself and my family 1500 miles from home. My two year old doesn't understand why her father is suddenly stressed to the max and not able to spend time with her because an employee clearly has 0 interest in helping us out and I'm wildly scrambling to find alternate transportation.0 chance I'll ever use this complete sham of a company again.

Horrible customer service. The old man was extremely rude, hateful, and a liar. He charged extra for my spouse as a driver. I found out they do not charge gold members spouses extra. Trying to get my $160.00 back is a nightmare. We had to bring back the car because the car was out of alignment. It was vibrating horribly. The first thing the old man asked me was, "Did you hit a curb?" He told us he was going to have someone test drive it. He changed his mind and traded another car. Second time he gave us the wrong spot where the rental car was. We walked around the lot pressing the key to find the car.

Not worth the experience. They told us there was a shortage in Springfield for rental cars, and that we would not get one, on that weekend, anywhere in Springfield. Other customers were in there complaining, that they reserved a car, which wasn't available. We went to another rental place, and were given a car, problem free quickly!! They lied to us at Herz.
