Called to inquire about a tour, but they only tour at 9:30. Most facilities allow you to come anytime, so that's a red flag for me!

Our kids LOVE building blocks. They hug the teachers everyday they go in and then again when we leave. Being open 6a-6:30p allows all different work schedules. The activities they do throughout the week and around the holiday are also wonderful! We have gotten calls from other daycares letting us know we are “off the waitlist” and we have CHOSEN to stay at building blocks :)

Make sure to call an check your spot on the list, been on a waiting list since 2021, after six months i called to know where we are at, and they told me they call me and they gave my sport to another person. First there is not missed call from them, or voicemail not even an email. that was february 2022. the front staff is really rude, i called a couple of times to ask where are we on the list and they always say that they are going to call me back and nothing. this time i gave them three numbers so there is no way we would "miss that"... a lost of time and money....

I cannot say enough good things about this daycare. Nothing is perfect, but they are pretty close, and I would recommend them to anyone.I’ve been taking my kids here for nearly 5 years, this is the only daycare they have known, and they LOVE it. They love their teachers, they love their classmates. Building Blocks has a really great preschool program (my mom was a preschool teacher for decades, and is impressed by the program), and it filters down into the younger rooms while still being age appropriate and fun.Every room they have been in, from infants through 5 years old, the teachers have been attentive to and engaged with the kids. They come home with fun projects every week, and I get lots of ideas for projects from them! My girls have easily met and exceeded every developmental and learning check administered by their pediatrician, and it’s because of Building Blocks.I nursed both my kids, and worked close enough that I could spend my lunch break nursing them on most days. I got to see the infant room in action at all different times of day, and I was constantly impressed. Michelle, in Infant A, taught me some really handy tricks. I’ve constantly been impressed by the teachers and staff, they are kind and really good with the kids. We are moving soon, and Building Blocks will be a really tough act to follow. Thanks, guys, for taking such amazing care of my girls; it gave me the peace of mind to go back to work and I’ve never had to worry about their safety or learning.

The teachers are great but the front staff is rude and uncooperative. And because so there is a lot of turnover in said great teachers. Do not recommend.

I felt the need to share this, this came from an employee and I have talked to several people who agree to what she said. “Today was my last day at building blocks, I loved that job so much but I just couldn’t handle being in a toxic work environment. Not just for me, but for the children as well. I have left work crying so many times mostly because how the children are treated. I have witnessed so many upsetting things in the year & a half I’ve been working there. I have seen children get sat down roughly & their heads get pushed into their laps almost touching the floor, I have seen children get shut in closets, a child getting picked on by a teacher for wearing a Chicago police shirt just because she didn’t like the police. I went into a classroom to take over & you could definitely tell they haven’t been changed in sometime. I took the child into the bathroom & she had such a horrible diaper rash that she was bleeding. We got a new girl that is not allowed to change diapers & on her 3rd week she picked a child up & screamed shut up i am irritable and tired in his face. I told her that he can not understand her & she started yelling at me that she was done. My own boss has even said that’s the type of child you need to go drop off on somebody’s back porch & don’t come back for. Everyday after going outside we give the kids water in their own sippy cup. I have found mold in them SEVERAL times, I have complained several times & nothing was done. I started sending the cups home basically telling the parents we needed to get a new one because they are not being sent up to get washed. Whenever I brought it to the other teachers attention I got told to let him drink it anyways!!! I definitely didn’t. My sons cup got sent home because it was leaking & when we opened the cup it had so much mold in it. Children can get so sick from this & they basically don’t care. As long as money is coming in they could care less about these children & it’s sad! The way the children get talked to literally blows my mind. It got so bad I even started recording audio in my pocket & even having the proof they didn’t care to even hear it. Anything I brought to their attention I got in trouble for & everything got turned around on me & my coworker. My boss is the most unprofessional person I have ever met, she tells confidential business to other employees, she talks badly about the children & the parents if something doesn’t go her way she will argue with you. I called off because my son was throwing up & she hung up on me. Don’t even get me started about the lunches. They literally look like prison food. It’s disgusting & we are feeding our children this stuff!! A while ago I told them I wanted to put my 2 weeks in & they told me if I leave my children can’t go there so basically I was trapped until I found another daycare. Today they held my check from me I told my boss that I needed it & if I don’t get it my bill will come out & my account will be negative & she told me “you’re gonna have to live with it” I am mentally drained from that job & my bosses. I loved my sons teacher in infants, I couldn’t ask for a better teacher, he loved her so much & he’s gonna miss her but this is the most toxic work place & I really hope some parents see this & really sees what goes on in building blocks preschool.”

Truly shocked they have such a big waitlist with the way they treat people on the phone. I’ve attempted to get information twice, my first call I was asked my children’s ages and when I responded she laughed and said “good luck.” I thought maybe it was just someone having a bad day and tried again, the next time I was informed the waitlist was so long I couldn’t even tour the facility for months. I was offered no further information and easily dismissed. Will continue our childcare search as these are certainly not the best impressions.

BEWARE!! So...I've never, ever had to deal with such unprofessional , un diplomatic people in my entire life. My grandson was kicked out without a notice for biting. Yet, he came home with bite marks on a daily. The classrooms have too many kids and it was causing him anxiety. I asked the director about it and she said the kids were biting him out of retaliation ..What?? What 2 year old knows how to retaliate??? This daycare is a joke. The director is a joke!! The only good thing that came out of this...now I get to watch my grandson and give him the care he deserves. They just didn't want to deal with him because there were too many kids in his class.

I legit got it trouble for simply trying to converse w/ the "teacher". The punishment - standing up and sitting back down over and over. For at least an hour at a time. This was every time I talked to her, had a question, wanted to use the facilities, or got upset. Other than that, the food is low quality, and I got in trouble for bringing a quarter to class. She made me cry all the time.

BB staff, Directors. Ms Suzie, It has been very exciting as first time parents to watch our baby grow from an infant to a little man! We couldn't have done any of it without your love, support, and care of Jack during daycare. We wanted to extend a big THANK YOU for watching over + teaching our little man new things every day! Jack definitely had a blast every day he was there (even if he fell asleep in random place haha!) We can't thank you enough for being such a wonderful & flexible team!

Last year, my 3yr old son was going there after I started working. It was really hard for both of us as that was the first day care. But teachers really helped us and took good care of him. He still remembers her and when we were leaving his teacher gave a beautiful memory of all kids by creating a poster. He learned so much and everything is good about this day care. Giving 4 start bcz they said no space for part time but there was vacancy for full time that was kind of strange

Our son was here for 2 years. I requested to speak with the administrator Brenda 3 times. She refused to meet with me. Then we received a letter saying our son was no longer welcome. After dealing with him being bitten and scratched by classmates then they just booted him. We later found out they were closing the south 6th street location and bringing kids over. So they had to make room. DISGRACEFUL!!!! ???
I have no respect for Brenda our her money grubbing methods!
