This is the 5th time we have reviewed this location this year with different accounts and yet you look at the recent reviews, all of ours are gone and the reviews reach 1-2 years ago quite fast.Prepare-Video and photo your car with time stamps, ( pick up and return)They are damaged and you will be scammed if they get the chance.- you will never get your promotional sale price, fees will be outrageous- you have a 25% chance your prepaid car will not be available and they will not provide a replacement 50% of the time.- watch all fees carefully, and address immediately. You will never reach customer service and if by a miracle someone answers, you will be in the wrong, everything is your fault and it can't be fixed because they can't authorize refunds.- we have had great smooth experiences here, and the worst unforgivable weeks of stress and peoblems fron this location.- if their price is the best you can find,,, and you dare try their service, make sure you protect yourself on every step of the rental process,. It might go smooth, but expect that it most definitely will go bad and you need all the evidence you can collect.

Car was clean except for glue on the window from the new car window sticker. Agent was super sweet and polite. We are so pleased that we choose this rental company. Thank you Avis!

The agents have no idea what they’re. Doing. You’ll pay in advance and they’ll slam you with charges you didn’t agree to. But you can’t do anything about it because you signed the agreement. They give you information that’s incorrect they should be trained better or pay for their mistakes

I see mixed reviews so I want to add my experience. Although I did not make the flight up to Springfield today, I want to acknowledge how well the reservation was handled. It was for 6pm and they had my car ready by 3pm. Avis notified me well in advance and sent both a text and email with exactly what vehicle was waiting for me. Of course when I don't make it, it's a phenomenal upgraded choice. Hats off to the staff for their selection. Additionally, I want to thank Mike who answered the phone at the direct number of the location listed here in Google. Most rental locations only give you the 1-800 number but the local number listed here WORKS and he took care of everything no questions asked. Traveling is stressful enough, kudos to the teams that make life smooth and easy for their customers. Lastly -- I just made an Avis account due to there being no Hertz on the field. While I didn't rent, the first impression was a solid one. Thank you Avis SPI

DO NOT DO IT!!!! If renting from the Springfield Illinois airport location pick enterprise instead. No one was there when it was time to pickup at 1030 am as the manager Chris had simply not come to work. Another gentleman had been there for two hours waiting for his rental he was supposed to pickup at 830. No one was sent to replace him. The enterprise worker told us this happens all the time.When I called Avis customer service I was told I could receive a $20 coupon per hour I had to wait but that it wasn’t their fault that the employee didn’t show up and I’d have to just wait until he returned. I asked if he was implying that if he didn’t show up at all that I still wouldn’t receive a refund and he said that it wasn’t their fault so no refund. I don’t owe anyone a specific explanation but as a family with small kids just trying to see all the family we could before returning to our home in Hawaii, we didn’t have time to spare, not to mention I made AND PAID for my reservation for the time specified for a reason.After fighting tooth and nail and calling so many different numbers we finally got ahold of an apparent manager of some sort over this particular Avis named Adam who talked through the rental process to two random men, one of whom was a driver from another location and one was the cleaner(these guys were amazing) to rent to us a dirty rental that had been returned earlier that day.It was just insane and y’all just save yourselves the headache and stay away! They obviously are not customer oriented and there is no point in spending hard earned cash on a company who doesn’t care about you in any way

I rented a car in June of this year, and experienced a smooth pick up/drop off (in which I utilized the drop box outside of the airport since it was “convenient” and there was a long line inside). The vehicle was returned in the same condition as I rented it in, with no damages, whatsoever. Nearly five months later, I’m slammed with a letter that states there was “glass damage” on the vehicle and that they’ll be charging my credit card on file for $533.00, per the rental agreement. Five months later, I get this letter with a bogus charge? Never again will I rent from here, nor will I ever feel the need to use anything of “convenience,” cuz it’s nothing but a joke and they wanna slap you with charges for something you never did. I should’ve trusted my gut and waited in line instead. Now I’ve gotta pay the price for someone else’s stupidity.

We rented a 12 passenger Ford Transit 350 for vacation.The extra room was amazing and LOTS of room in the back behind the seats for a weeks worth of luggage for 6 plus all the beach stuff, 2 coolers and a large container for misc stuff.We will be renting one of these for every driving vacation from now on!

Don’t do rentals from Avis, the branch manager there will try his best to up charge you on items you don’t need. He also added on additional expenses that weren’t previously disclosed in the rental such as (concession fee, rental extension, vehicle license recoup etc). I rented a vehicle from Alamo car rentals at the same airport and needed an extension on the rental agreement and none of these charges were applied to the total!

Jacksonville Fl AirportQuality control reviewWhen a Vehicle is looked over, seat belts should be checked, if one does not work it should be put in the shop for repair not rented out with this type of safety hazard!For that reason its a no recommendation

I ALWAYS receive GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE at this Avis location. The manager and his staff are GREAT!! The car selection is good and plenty and the rates are awesome. I highly recommend this Avis for all your car rental needs.?

Christopher at the Springfield Illinois airport location made our experience terrible. All customers we experienced him speak to he was rude and condescending. For being a manager he lacks customer service skills. All in all our experience with him will prevent us from renting from AVIS again.

Be aware in small airport…just because you have a rental pickup time, that doesn’t mean the Avis desk will be open. Don’t ask me how I know!

Car and overall experience was good but was charged a $200 refueling fee after I returned the vehicle full. Avis Customer Service said somebody at the location marked it as not full. Would have been 5 stars without the added charge. After talking with CS, they will be refunding me. Just a hassle.
