Recently went into the South Elgin branch to exchange a $50 bill into singles. I was not only asked to show ID but had to enter my card with pin to get the exchange done. Fifth Third goes out of their way to make it difficult for their customers. Not my first bad experience with this branch but by far the most puzzling. It's a cash exchange guys.

This bank frequently spam calls me offering additional services. However, their interest rates and offerings are far below competitors. For example, their current savings rates are 0.01% and you can easily find 3.5%+ elsewhere.I've also been hit with hidden fees multiple times on multiple accounts, even on "No-fee Banking Services" where I was assured that there would never be any charges.Between the spam calls, poor offerings, and hidden fees - there is absolutely no reason to bank here. Will close my account as soon as the money transfers out and never return.

Staff is always pleasant and very helpful. I can always count on Lupita to answer any questions. I like that some of the staff has been at this location for years which makes my interactions with the bank comfortable!

Fifth third offered me a loan that’s used for paying off credit card debt. They said my credit was good enough for the loan but it was because of my debt why I wasn’t approved lol. Payments for the loan would have been cheaper than my credit card payments that were always on time. Paid off my debt with a 401k loan, all interest is going to me. Opened up an account with another bank and purchased a house through them and cancelled my account with Fifth third.

Poorly operated. I literally been trying to call for the last 3 days so that I can order a new debit card. I have not spoken to an actual person yet. Bad form

My review is not focused on the South Elgin Branch but is very much about the bank as a whole. I used to recommend this bank to everyone; great "smaller bank with decent computer systems and privacy (offices) for customers to have conversations in private with bankers). All I can say now is DON'T! The systems are error and downtime prone. Online and phone support is beyond bad. The bank is. Ot as control conscious as it should be and they are starting to fee customers to death.

Terrible service. My father had sent me money and accidentally put my first and middle name in the first name spot (end of the world I know). The woman in front of me asked for help- from what I assume is the manager but who knows she was wearing a winter coat and looked completely unprofessional. The woman helping said verbatim "you think her father would be able to spell her name" out loud while standing in front of me with her back turned. She was beyond condescending and rude, making little side comments along the way. I've never witnessed such terrible customer service in my life. Never going back to this location.
