Buying a Subaru from McGrath Evanston was an unexpected pleasure. I anticipated a tedious experience but was so delighted with my salesman; the general manager and the finance department. I will always recommend McGrath to my family and friends!

I didn't just get a great car, I had a great car buying experience at McGrath. Cameron was helpful, kind and listened. He really made the experience of buying a car friendly and comfortable. Also, everyone at McGrath seemed like they were supportive of each other and not as competitive as some dealerships feel. And the finance guys name is Spike. Great name. Great experience.Want a Subaru? Go see Cameron.

2017 Outback purchased from Paddor Evanston Subaru, now 90K miles presenting to McGrath service dept with low heat; no coolant or oil leaks, no engine overheating history, no exhaust smoke, no AC issues. Agreed to a $180 diagnostic fee. 2 hours later, no diagnosis, but I was told a coolant flush & refill was necessary for further diagnosis. A hour later, diagnosis was an air bubble in the heater core fed by a head gasket leak. I was told I needed head gasket replacements, which is an engine-out procedure, to be done in conjunction with the Subaru recommended 100K scheduled maintenance, including timing chain removal & replacement, work estimated at $7700 and a week in the shop. Requested a compression test to confirm the head gasket failure and was told it was not necessary. The diagnostic fee was waved and I paid $400 for the coolant service and fled. Runge's Auto & Tire back-flushed the heater core, changed the oil and rotated the tires for $91 dollars total, heat is like new. I will never return to McGrath.

How cars catch fire at McGrath Evanston subaru and how management Adam Hain tells us to let's the cars go if the check engine light isn't on. A green forester just caught fire the other day and management let the vehicle leave like that. Speaking up on how management favoritism for white employees till the Latino one speaks up goes to Human Resources and get retaliation for reporting him. Not a fair environment Opportunity for any Latino. While management continues to say rude/disrespectful things about customers unprofessionally.

Do you believe there is a silver lining behind every cloud? Well, the team of Rick Goodson (service lane manager) and Jay (uber mechanic) at McGrath Evanston Subaru are my silver lining. I recently purchased a 2022 Outback from Toyota of Lincoln Park. Almost immediately, discovered oil stains on the garage floor. After several days of unreturned phone calls and text messages from the salesman and management at Toyota dealership I went to Berman Subaru (I've been going there for the last 5 years with my 2017 Outback). They told me they would charge me for inspecting the vehicle which at a minimum would be the cost of an oil change to reset the gasket since it was probably not sealed properly after the last oil change. They advised me to go back to the selling dealership. So, I went back. Toyota lifted the vehicle and found oil in the engine shield but couldn't find any leaks despite running the car for 1 1/2 hous. They attributed the issue to a sloppy oil change that spilled oil into the shield. They cleaned everything up and sent me home. You guessed it ... oil stains again. This time, I decided to go to McGrath Evanston Subaru because I saw on my CarFax that it was purchased and serviced there several times and thought they might know the history of this car. As soon as I started telling my story to the person checking me in, he asked me to wait and brought over Rick Goodson, the lane manager, my silver lining. Rick quickly made me feel comfortable that I was in the right hands. After a short wait, Rick introduced me to Jay, the mechanic who looked at the car. Jay advised me that the seal around the oil pan and bolts were not properly sealed. He would have to remove the turbo engine in order to properly reseal it. All of which sounded incredibly time-consuming and expensive. I asked for an estimate. After a short while, Rick came back to me with good news ... they would take care of the entire repair ($1400) So, after weeks of going back and forth between dealerships ... I found the dealership I can trust. Rick and Jay took the time to properly evaluate the situation and did all they could to help me. McGrath is the place I will be coming to with both my Subarus from now on ... thanks to Rick and Jay.

I dont think people take the time to leave positive reviews here. Ive been servicing my car with McGrath Subaru for years. My service advisor *********************** and his team are wonderful. Theyre always honest, helpful, professional, and respectful. Never recommended anything I didnt actually need like some places do. Have saved me a lot of money over the years and kept my 2009 Outback running like a dream. Ive never had better service and would recommend them to anyone.

Complete waste of my time going to this dealership. Their website shows their inventory for 10 Subaru Crosstreks, including 1 with the sport trim I was after. I inquired online about a Suburu Crosstrek with a specific colorway, and their internet sales manager replied to me about additional vehicles that had coming in for August. I replied to his e-mail and said, "I'm headed over to the dealership now to take a look in person and perhaps do a test drive. Do you have the 1 Crosstrek Sport on the lot listed on your site?"He replied, "Great, looking forward to seeing you." And followed up with an appointment e-mail for the same day 4:30PM".I replied again asking, "Is that a no on the Crosstrek Sport at the dealership?" and got no reply.I arrived to the dealership to find out not only did they not have the Crosstrek Sport at the dealership, they did not have any Crosstrek at the dealership that wasn't already sold and could be test driven. Why was an appointment made for me? To come in an have some coffee and chat it up?Mark Wodika gave me a half ass apology and said he just didn't read my e-mail. So he's just blindly replying see ya soon to his e-mails? It was a two sentence e-mail, he saw that I was coming in to the dealership, but somehow missed the fact that I was coming in to test drive a vehicle he knew they did not have on the lot, or ANY of that vehicle regardless of trim level? Why would I be coming into the dealership then? It honestly makes no sense. At best it's completley careless... but really just felt like he purposefully ignored my question about inventory to get me in the door. The only solution the manager could come up with was for me to test drive a 22' Crosstrek, which I don't understand how that is seen as a solution in any sense.I ubered to the dealership, wasted my time and money. At a minimum you would think the manager would atleast offer to cover an uber back for me after the trouble and carelessness of his internet sales manager... but of course that was never offered.I would not waste your time at this dealership, I know I won't. I'll find another Subaru dealership that actually cares to have your business... because the one thing that was evident from my experience is that they do not care at McGrath Evanston Subaru.

I've had some horror stories with Subaru shops in the area (ahem, Berman) but McGrath made the process so easy. They're upfront and honest about their rates, do very quick but thorough work, and even shuttled me to/from my work while they worked on my car. It's never fun having work done on your car, but they made the process so much less stressful and I didn't feel like I was being ripped off. Thank you, McGrath!

My phone call this AM was unpleasant at best! Insulting! Not helpful and antagonistic! We won't consider this dealership. We are in the market for a Subaru and will look elsewhere.

We were in the market for a second car. For several months we researched brands which fit our needs and budget. I had leanings between Honda and Subaru but the husband was all in on Team Subaru. After months of indecision and some persuasion from my close Yelp friend, Vikki Y., we chose to stick with Subaru. My parents value quality in everything and I too share this same mindset because who wants to buy a car only to buy another one in 10 years! If my husband and I are dropping over 30K on a vehicle, you better believe, #1: we plan on having that car for a very long time and #2: We want the best car our money can buy.Is it built for speed? No. If we were in our early 20's or encountering a midlife crisis this may have been our priority but for a family like ours, we want a car that has a solid performance rating. As we approach the 1K mark on our speedometer, we are satisfied with how the car handles and plan on clocking a lifetime of miles, smiles, daily commutes, errands and adventures on this car.The staff at McGrath Evanston Subaru were a pleasure to work with. Herbie was our salesperson and he made our car buying experience easy. He was attuned to what we wanted. We never felt pressured to buy right away and when we felt like it was time for us to purchase, he helped us get our car registered and set us up with our insurance. Evan, the sales manager, was amicable and popped in to check on us. David in Finance was personable, answered all our questions and walked us through the daunting task of understanding the financial paperwork.Weeks later we were invited to schedule a follow up consult with their Tech spokesperson Brendan. Brendan went over all the ins and outs of the car and helped us get familiar with our electronic settings so all car features offered were customized to our liking. I'm unsure if other dealerships do this with their clients but the extra level of care definitely steps it up a notch when it comes to providing quality customer service.Lastly, I would like to mention how Subaru lives up to its motto when they say they are "More than a car company." Their fuel efficient vehicles are built in Eco-friendly plants thus reducing their carbon footprint. In their 20 years, they have donated more than $190 million to humanitarian causes like Feeding America, Books for Kids and their Adopt-A-Pet program. If Love is the Subaru promise, we're happy to be part of the Subaru family.
