Called to check prices on some lumber and misc. material. I was shocked to find the prices 25% higher than Menards. Guy that answered the phone said "well maybe you should go to Menards". Guess what, I did!! Don't waste your time with this place.

I’ve been buying lumber for almost 5 years now but this is my first time at an R.P. store. This location is next to an Anchor Lumber and I contemplated pulling in there instead, but I’m glad I didn’t. There were two gentlemen working at the store as we’d just kicked off a heavy snowstorm, and 15 minutes before closing. The guy inside was nothing but friendly and helpful. And it turned out the guy outside handling the lumber yard, was the person I’d spoken to earlier in the day when I’d inquired about product availability. After paying for the wood screws and boards, the guy inside called out my order. When I walked outside maybe two minutes later, the other guy was standing next to my car with my order ready to go. He said he’d assumed when I pulled in that I was the lady he’d spoken with so he pulled the boards and got it ready to go. He even took the time to wrap all my 2x2’s up in a bundle to make transport easier! I was certainly impressed, and very much appreciated the thoughtfulness and eagerness to help even at the end of the day, when most people would have been more concerned with closing up shop and getting home.

On Thursday I called & talked to a gentleman about getting designs done for an addition. He said come on in & we'd be glad to help you. At no time did he say I needed to bring anything with. So Monday I went in & got a different guy - his name is JOHN - told him why I was there & from there it went down hill, he talked to me like I was an idiot, he was upset because I didn't have everything that he needed - how am I supposed to know what he needs???? He said he was helping me but actually he was asking me why I didn't have this, why I didn't have that, he can't do it w/o this or that. I've never been treated so badly by a store employee in my life. JOHN needs a course in CUSTOMER SERVICE. RP Lumber just lost a TON of money in design, construction materials, cabinets, flooring, siding and roofing just to mention a few. Thanks JOHN for giving me a glimpse of what I would have had to work with before we even got started. Moving on to a competitor that knows CUSTOMER SERVICE.
