If you’re looking to travel for a tubing trip, steer clear of Fox Hollow River Tubing in Sheridan, IL…. drove 2 hours to find ourselves in the beginning scene of a horror movie (think “Wrong Turn” or “Deliverance”) and honestly thought we were gonna end up being turned into cannibal soup! ?Luckily, Ayer’s Landing came in clutch only 15 miles away and provided an awesome experience! The owner was a genuinely cool dude who told us all about how his family had owned the business for 30+ years and he took over a few years ago after retiring from 20 years as a fighter pilot in the army. What could have been a disastrous waste of a day ended up being an a absolute blast and a perfect day floating lazily on the Fox River! ???☀️?

Wow!!! Awful!!! Don’t just ignore the reviews, LISTEN. I had gone here about 5 years ago and I would by no means say it was nice but it was an enjoyable time. THEN I CAME BACK THIS SUMMER and all I have to say is RUN. I really considered reporting this to the FBI because no way is this place legal. Like I felt like I was living in a horror nightmare and it was a 5 hour experience I will never get back. Like I don’t think I even realize that we could have all died. SO IF YOU DONT WANNA DIE, DO NOT GO. RUNNNNNN

I cant believe how awful this place was. I read a review that said "waiting for Marty Bird" as starting point house looked like a Langmore homestead. They nailed it. I've been here before...definatly has gone downhill. And the cost..$.25.00 per person to basically float thru green sludge, beat our backsides with rocks, walk, move at a snails speed, 3 hour tour seemed like being stranded on Gilligan's Island. As we all thought we would never see the end of this tour. But at last.. up ahead was what we thought was a Halloween prank, is that a dead body hanging from the bridge. I guess that poor soul just said ?♀️?♀️ and ended his misery. Than we realized the end was in sight. But damn one more surprise, tiny but fast moving shallow rapids which my grandaughter got flipped out from her half deflated tube.. face first into rocks. After we realized she wasn't playing and actually struggling to free herself from under tube. We all got out to save her, and we all were struggling. I say....NOPE...NADA...NOT AGAIN. AND I HOPE YOU DONT GO DOWN THIS SLOW MOVING REMAKE OF DELIVERANCE...WITHOUT THE R RATED PARTS. IM SURE I HEAR THE THEME SONG PLAYING AT ONE POINT. I SAY TAKE THE 25.00 BUY A TUBE ON AMAZON, AND FLOAT ON A SMALL CREEK IN A NICE FOREST...BET ITS MORE FUN...NOT WAITING TO BE SHOT AT AND TAKEN HOSTAGE BY WILD SWAMP PEOPLE....WAS I IN ILLINOIS WAS IT A BAD DREAM. DONT DO IT...AGAIN I SAY DONT DO IT....SIGNED SAFE AT HOME IN HINSDALE.... ?

10/10, best place ever! The owner, Dan, is so friendly and so is his little buddy!? My family and I go there annually and we’ve had no problems! If you’re in the area and you want to do a 3-4 hour activity, River tubing here is the place to be! The 3 mile ride takes about 3 hours and it’s nothing but laughs and it’s such an amazing time to spend with family! PLEASE COME VISIT AND SAY HI

My family and I decided to enjoy an afternoon tubing on the Fox River today and Fox Hollow River Tubing helped make it a memorable experience. Jesse, who was running things, was very helpful going over everything we needed to know. The weather was perfect, the scenery... breathtaking, and all in all it was truly one of the most fun and relaxing activities we've ever done. An unforgettable day! We cannot wait to do it again! ?

This was my first time coming i’d say it was definitely an experience. The weather was perfect to go tubing. The river was calm at some parts then got a little fast which made it so relaxing. The workers are very nice and welcoming. I’d for sure come next summer

Detox from LIFE and get back to APPRECIATING the wonders of nature! This is my 2nd time tubing with friends & will be back in 2 weeks. The staff is friendly, helpful and always happy to see us! I am unclear why so many negative reviews as staff gives clear instructions to put their ph# in your phone so you can call for pick-up once you come to the bridge. Once you see the bridge, exit on the left where rock/stone landing is. Call ph# given and tell them ready for pick-up. Walk-up to the road & wait for bus to pick-up. Staff/driver will help put tubes into back of bus when you load onto bus. Relax & enjoy the ride back & driver always wants to know how your day was & how many Eagles did you see? Wonderful!

I don't understand why the reviews are so low. It's tubing in a creek! The check in is easy; pay your money, sign on the line. You don't have to ride anywhere, you get in The Fox RIGHT THERE. They have nice tubs with mesh or no mess bottom, your choice and tubs for your cooler, if you need one.For a minimum of 3 hours you float The Fox River. If you go during the week, the river is yours. If you go on the weekend you have to "share". The reasoning is obvious. If you chose to stop along the way you can drag out the 3 hours however long you like. You call when you reach the bridge so they can come pick you up. The buses are a little rough. I get this. They can't have wet, muddy and sometimes drunk people on a "nicer" bus. However, I do think they could do some work on the dressing rooms. When you get back to the "home base" you need to get out of your wet clothes and river shoes but their changing area is a wreck; no lights, smashed in toilet and broken sink. Other than this item, I adore this place. The quiet of the river, the fish, birds and dragonflies are worth it. I'll be back!

The website makes it seem nicer than it is. We were able to check in and get tubes right away, but the premises and bus were borderline filthy. The staff were friendly, but they did not give the clearest directions on how to get out of the river, but we were able to figure it out. They also disappeared right after checking us in and there seemed to be two groups waiting for a while behind us. One of our tubes could not hold air and we had to share one tube between two people most of the way. Luckily we did not have to wait for a shuttle. We had an overall fine time, but will not be back.

So - um - this is an experience that I will never forget (and that’s putting it mildly). While others complained about the parking lot, I, personally found the deflated inner tube along the side of the road to be very helpful (which is the sole reason for the second star).A little less helpful - everyone and everything else. The team that works here was clearly frazzled. We called in advance to make sure that they knew that our party was coming and assured us that they could: 1) cater to us and 2) told us not to stress because the previous floaters were running a little late. What they failed to mention is how late, 2.5 hours+ to be exact. When we arrived, they politely informed us that a large group of firefighters left for a 7:00 AM tour and had not yet returned. Ummm - it was 3:30 PM by this time, so I asked multiple times if the employees were concerned that the firefighters had not returned safely; the answer was nope.Their tracking mechanism is a crumpled piece of paper that they often could not read, so naturally, a new paper list was started, but that presented obvious challenges in itself as all the patrons’ names we not always transferred from each piece of paper to the next.We were interested in the 1.5 hour float, but learned that it did not exist anymore and that nobody removed it from the website.I only briefly saw the bus, but it had buttons that haven’t been seen since the 1950s. The drivers seat was severely worn down, so I’m guessing it hasn’t passed an emissions test - well - ever. I’m not sad to say that I think we dodged a bullet by not getting on it.If you DO decide to take this tour, please be sure to inquire about THE BRIDGE. This seemed to be the most important part of the tour that most people likely did not get the memo about. The bridge is where you get out of the river and call the phone number that is printed on cardboard at the Check-In desk to make sure that someone picked you up. I can only wonder if the firefighters didn’t get that memo. I also hope that they were all found and returned home safely! That being said, we respectfully asked the staff to cross our names off the list as it was clear that we were not going to be floating. In a sincere effort to right the wrong, they offered us comped tickets to come back with friends another time. On the drive home, I grabbed one of the comped tickets only to learn that they were business cards - 7 of them to be exact. If none of this discouraged you, I say, GO FOR IT! It will certainly be an experience that you’ll never forget. I know I won’t. :)

Don't waste your money or time, waited 2 hours to get going with zero communication. It was not clear where the ending was besides a rude employee yelling at us from a bridge, we were told to just call and wait 10 mins and there would be a sign at the end. (there wasn't) Staff was incredibly disrespectful. The very old broken down bus was full and he told us "you know what standing room is?" then proceed to speed and drive recklessly. Nothing about our experience felt safe unfortunately. I would not recommend.
