Update: I wrote my original review 11 years ago and they are just now responding…. Literally 11 YEARS later. They clearly have a grasp on timelines.
Let's put it in plain and simple terms... They can't guarantee my dress in time for my September wedding, when I ordered it in FEBRUARY. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS....

I wish I could rate a 0. After a wonderful experience dress shopping here and buying my WEDDING DRESS in February, my dress did not come in from overseas until 2 WEEKS BEFORE MY WEDDING!! I began calling to inquire about when the dress was to come around the middle of June. I was told every time I called it would be about 2 weeks. This persisted until a month and a half before my wedding, at which time I WAS FORCED TO BUY A DRESS ONLINE because no other store could guarantee my dress to be in and altered by my wedding date. As an excited bride, you expect the dress of all things to be perfect, and future brides, just try to picture yourself a month before your wedding, without a dress at all. It was a nightmare. I was devastated and had NOTHING TO WEAR AT MY WEDDING. If you want to wear the dress of your dreams at your once in a lifetime day, NEVER go to the House of Brides. Or House of Nightmares. I'm ready to contact news stations with all of you other brides with horrid experiences, to CLOSE HOUSE OF BRIDES DOORS FOR GOOD. No bride deserves these gut wrenching experiences, that can be avoided by buying a dress at a place that truly cares for you.

The worst customer service ever. Dresses ordered in Feb 2013. It is now 8-22-13 and wedding is 9-13-13 and still no dresses. Stories change each time you call. They shipped they didn't ship. Ordering department only works 12-5 Mon - Fri and you wonder why the dresses are so late. Previous conversation I was told it is going to be close! What is this? Dresses are paid for and there is no way I am have alterations done on 7 bridesmaid, 1 wedding gown and 1 mother of the bride dress. I asked to speak to salon manager and surprise surprise she wasn't available and I got the ordering department with the story of the day. The customer service and receptionists are sneaky and underhanded so that you can not speak to the salon manager. There is no corporate number to call and when you ask for one they give you another salon's number and guess what no corporate. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON. Salon was dirty and help picking out dresses was very poor and lacking. Nothing positive that I can find in this situation. I am now trying to come up with a back up plan in case the dresses do not arrive on time as House of Brides could care less. NOT THEIR FAULT. DRESSES COME FROM OVERSEAS.
It is now 8-27-13 and the bridesmaids dresses just arrive NO BRIDAL GOWN OR MOTHER OF THE BRIDE DRESS YET. We 17 days to go so it is now time to come up with a back up plan and if the dresses do not come in CONTACT A LAWYER. This is a breach of contract. Totally unbelievable. Now they don't even return the brides' calls and will never ever transfer you to the salon manager. Time to head over there pick up the bridesmaids dresses - there is no way we are altering a bridal gown that is not even here for $355 and the bridesmaids dress alteration cost of $155 each. They have got to be kidding.
10-24-2024 11 YEARS AFTER WEDDING THEY RESPOND TO MY REVIEW. POINT MADE ON THE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would! I had an appt here on 9/15/24. Before we even walked in, the receptionist CAME OUT IN TO THE PARKING LOT to be sure we knew “no colored beverages allowed- only water”. Okay…that’s all we had. I started to walk inside with my clear LaCroix water can and before I even had my entire body in the door, the same woman points at me and screams “you can’t have that in here!” I held it up so she could see the label, and I said “oh, it’s only water”. She said “yes but the metal can is too flimsy! You will need to throw that away!”. This was my FIRST interaction- NOT EVEN A HELLO, not a good morning, not a welcome to house of brides. Nothing. Next, they had us check in at this very outdated, hard to use computer screen. After that, I was handed off to an exceptionally rude saleswoman. First, she spent about 15 minutes pointing me towards dresses I did not like, to the point where me and 2 of my bridesmaids had to walk off away from her to find some things that I was willing to try on. The saleswoman kept pointing to satin dresses, and even after I repeatedly told her that I was only interested in sparkle and lace, she kept repeatedly pointing at all these satin dresses, even after I kept saying no. Next, she refused to let a member of my own family help dress me and insisted on doing it herself, which was extremely uncomfortable. Then, as I was modeling the dresses for my family/bridesmaids, the saleswoman REFUSED TO LET MY FAMILY TAKE PHOTOS OF ME IN THE DRESSES! All day, as we were going to each store, my mom and my mother-in-law were taking pictures of me in each dress so I could compare and pick my favorite at the end of the day. At one point, our obnoxious saleswoman even told my mom “you see all these cameras? If we catch you taking pictures, we will report you to the police.” Ha! Additionally, the store is unreasonably outdated. The carpet looks like it has not been vacuumed in 20 years, and for the most part, the dresses in the store are intended for either brides in their 50s getting married, or morbidly obese individuals. I am a size 0-2, and the sales woman was trying to give me size 12, 16, and 18 dresses to try on my tiny frame, and then clip them into place, as if that would make me see what they would look like on someone my size. Despite all of this, there was ONE dress that, if I had gotten to try it on in a size that was even relatively close to my own, it may have been my favorite. It really may have been the one . However, due to the uninviting, unwelcoming atmosphere, and the obnoxious and disrespectful personalities of my sales woman and the woman at the front desk, I will never purchase from here. At the end, my saleswoman tried to hand me her business card. I threw it in the trash without even looking at it. This place is absolutely atrocious in every way, and I do not recommend any brides come here. It was so bad that I actually apologized to my friends and family when we got into the parking lot. They apologized to me that I had to go through the misery of trying on dresses at this place. Save yourself the time and never step foot in House of Brides in Schaumburg!!!

Ask for Maria, she knows what she’s doing and will take good care of you. While she’s patient, she has great advice if you ask it.

I scheduled my appt online. They have the same website as the Tux store they share a building with. My appt went to the wrong inbox, I clearly stated I was looking for a dress. I received no feedback. Appt confirmed. Thought I was good. I arrive, appt doesn't show, I was scheduled at the Tux store, no one gave a dang. There was another appt at that time, but literally no other customers. They did find a staff member to help me, finally. Wouldn't let me take photos with a dress on to send to my out of state mother. Almost every single dress I tried had significant damage. Stains, rips tears, they tried really hard to convince me that I was sure going to get a steal paying 1k for a dress that was usually 3k, but it still needs to be repaired. Were incredibly insulting to my timetable, and very pushy. When I said I was going to a second hand store they were hella rude about that choice. I mean, the offerings here were ripped and stained but forgive me for suggesting wearing used. I would not recommend anyone to use this place if it could be avoided.

Had a wonderful experience picking out my wedding dress. I didn’t make an appointment but without hesitation they took me in and made me and my family feel welcomed. Maria was so kind and helpful when it came to showing me different dresses and narrowing down the styles of dresses till I found the one.

I had a great experience back in October 2023. I actually didn’t have an appointment, and just went in to ask if they had a specific designer I was looking for. After some chatting with one of the associates, she asked me if I had an appointment. I explained to her I would set one up and come back to see her, but she was willing to get started with me right then and there. She was very patient and attentive, listening to my vision and helping me pick out some contenders. Once I was trying them on, she was able to pinpoint what my favorite parts of the dresses were, and went herself and brought me one more, which ended up being the dress I fell in love with. If she wouldn’t have been willing to take me that day who knows if I would’ve found my dress! She was very professional and sweet to my family accompanying me, and I said yes to the dress!

Back in april 2024 ,My dress experience was wonderful. I had maria and she listened to what idea I had, even showed me some styles My group wanted.
Today 6/22/24 I was helped my Nina as a walk in for accessories and she was amazing as well. She also helped my mom look for dresses.
My only negative is thier mens department. Today 6/22/24 I dropped in to get my robe and while I was there I asked the receptionist who is amazing to get help for me. Unfortunately that's where it ends. The boy was rude, refused to measure my son and was not interested in doing his job. Told me if my fiance wasn't in his book with agreed colors then he wasn't helping me. I was appauld and I told the boy we will go to men's warehouse because they are more helpful.
The receptionist apologized for the rude boy but it's not her place. She wasn't the rude one. But I appreciate it.
I do hope my near future appointments go smooth.

Not a very welcoming location. Fiancée went in and woman at front was very abrupt and rude. Store employees just stood around. Place has nice stuff but service just felt off.

Believe the reviews, not a good place to shop, I hope they get new staff soon or they will loose a lot of business.

What an exhausting horrible experience that lasted about an hour. Went with my sister, (who had an appointment). Immediately greeted by the front desk that they were running late. The girl who was "assisting" my sister was generously inconsiderate. Overall, pushy, rude, I think she rolled her eyes at least once that I caught. They have very limited selections that are sizes 16-18 and above. You're forced to only look in one room that has cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and dirty carpet. My sister still requested to view some dresses on the main show floor - in hopes they could still order in her size. General reactions from the staff didn't make us feel welcomed or really appreciated, our conclusion is that we felt like cattle. There was one dress my sister fell in love with and was highly considering. But based on the business model House of Brides supported and implied, we never returned or felt the need to settle.Save your time and money. Understandably there are limited bridal shops but enough in the area, (or online), where you can comfortably say Yes to the Dress.

I "won" a giveaway for a free bridal robe. I only had 10 days to claim it. After scheduling a Saturday appointment online, I received a call from a rude and impatient person saying I was only allowed to come in Monday-Thursday. When I explained I live and work too far away from any locations to come in on a weekday, she basically said that's not her problem and that's how the call ended. I don't know how they can make winning a giveaway such an unpleasant experience...they don't plan on giving me anything as I can still only go out there on a weekend. I didn't even sign up for this giveaway. I attended a bridal expo and they got my information from it.

I wouldn't even give this store one star. They are terrible. Have the worst Customer service ever. They never contacted me when my dress came in. They only let you come in for fittings on Thursdays. I live an hour away and am a surgeon on Thursdays so as a medical professional I can't take off work for their dress fitting. I finally got them to let me come on a Sunday for the first fitting. They were supposed to make alterations and told me I could come try the dress on and get it today but when I called yesterday to confirm they basically bitched me out saying it's against protocol. I told them I'm done with them and their alterations and I just want my dress and I'm not coming on a Thursday, I'm coming this Wednesday to pick it up in Schaumburg where I bought it at and they asked if I could drive to Lombard, which is two hours from me so I told them no so finally agreed to Wednesday at 1 pm. I have no hope they will even have my dress on Wednesday. I'm not one to complain but this is the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. People need to fired or this store is going under with the way they treat their customers.
