I have traveled the world and I can honestly say that BMO Harris bank is the worst bank that I have dealt with. You attempt to call a customer service agent to rectify a situation and they say you go to the branch. Then you try to make an appointment online to visit the branch and they don’t let you. My aunt passed away and we visited the bank to notify them. Not only did we provide a death certificate and a valid will, but two copies of small estate affidavit, and BMO Harris says that they are not valid. Then we told them to supply their own small estate affidavit and they said they couldn’t, but they can reject everything that you provide them. I notified them that we spoke to the family attorney, and that this is the form to use but yet they still don’t meet the customers needs. The items of concern that we went to the branch to rectify have still not been fixed. We have been there twice while in the midst of burying my aunt and attending services. I do not recommend this banking system to anyone. I have numerous reviews on Google and I have never had to leave such a poor review as this one.

Pray to god your deceased loved one does not have an account with these knuckleheads. My sister passed 10 days ago and dealing with them has been an absolute nightmare. They will not accept forms provided by the state attorney general or Cook County, and will not tell you what form you have to use. They froze joint accounts so now her husband has no access to pay for funeral expenses. They tell you to make an appointment online, but the online banking portal won’t allow you to make any appointments. Honestly, the stress of dealing with the loss of a loved one is nothing compared to dealing with BMO Harris. I recommend you close any accounts and move your money to a different bank. I can’t believe any other financial institution could be this incompetent and unempathetic.

The banker talked me into opening a account, every month deposit $200 and get $5, I found out there’s a statements fee $3 a month, never mentioned any fee, if she did would i open for $2 a month????? I hate that place, on my way to close all the accounts and moving to my favorite - chase, they never give wrong information

Boy if ever there' was a place with terrible customer service it's this place. Our Mom passed away and I called ahead wanting to make an appt. ( we adult kids live out of state) The banker I was transferred to assured me we wouldn't need one. The day we went -- the lobby was full and if I hadn't gotten his name - Brandon we'd have been waiting 45-60 min. Though our Mom had my brother as POD this banker said he'd also need to see her Will! What ? Why? Well this turned into more poor quality and service with Brandon's boss forcing us to come back the next day so their "legal dept" could review the will. We can back next day -- and the teller was another bafoon. She called me by my deceased mother's name ! Worst experience ever during a difficult time

Worst bank to work with. Customer service is horrible. Do not get a home or auto loan from them!! They have hidden fees and zero customer service. 800 number has very long hold times and there is no issue resolution. Stay far away from this bank

DON'T USE THIS BANK! I deposit checks regularly from clients, when I had a large balance in my account, the checks would clear the next day. Now that business has slowed down and I don't have that much in there, they are telling me that their policy is to hold all checks for 5-7 business days. So they are holding my money for two weeks. Closing all my accounts this week. Going to a credit union instead.

Very kind people work at this bank! Tom the security guard is so friendly, and Marcie was amazing. Love this bank, and wish I had one in my town in Georgia!!

Worst bank ever! I wish I could give zero stars! I closed my account years ago because of their unreasonable fees! Today I have 2 payroll checks that my employer gave me for extra work I did. My employer has their account through BMO. Normally my checks are direct deposited into my credit union, but my employer hand wrote these so I could get the money quicker since it's Christmas. The two checks total around $500. BMO wants to charge me $20 to cash them since I don't have an account there, despite the fact that BOTH CHECKS ARE FROM ONE OF THEIR OWN ACCOUNTS!!! This is nothing short of corporate greed! I'll never do business with them again and I'm making sure that NONE of my investments include them!
