I came in to buy a deck box and was dissatisfied with the ability to find the product or an employee to help. Since I couldn't find the actual product I wanted to purchase, I took the display to the front register to purchase. The cashier at self checkout was giving me 15 percent off the price because it was the display but the original price was ringing up wrong. It was coming up 139.00 instead of 129.00. So the cashier voided the transaction and started over. She rung up the deck box again and only gave me 10.00 off instead of the original 15% she initially gave me. At this point I decided to get a new one instead. The cashier called and found out if there were any new deck boxes. There were and she told me that they were outside in aisle 57. She did not offer to have an employee get one for me. So I had to go find another flatbed cart, and head across the store to find the new one in box. I met up with an employee and the employee showed me the section where the new in box deck boxes were. However they did not have the grey colored deck box that was on display. Only had the brown ones. So I finally had to settle and purchase the brown one. I went to the register and sure enough the price was wrong again. I told the cashier that it was 129.00. (The sign and the shelf label both said 129.00 but it did have "Father's Day" sale on the sign) so it was probably expired sale. The cashier rolled his eyes and picked up the phone to call for a price check and few minutes later he adjusted the price down 10.00 with no sorry or apology for waiting. I finally got the final price and paid for the deck box. I get home to find out that the deck box was damaged so now I had to turn around and go back. I arrived at the store and went to garden center and asked the same cashier if I could just exchange the box for the same one and he said ok but there was a girl that said no and that I would have to go to customer service to do my return. I asked her just to exchange for same and she said no you have to go to the return desk to exchange. At this point I had spent about an hour total in the store between finding the product getting rung up wrong 2 times and returning the product. I told the "customer service" girl that if I have to return the product just to turn around and repurchase? I would just do the return and not repurchase and go somewhere else to purchase. She responded with "that's how it is!" So I did my refund and went home just to start telling my family about my experience and wasted time. Im sure that nothing will happen after this but if someone of importance actually reads this I would just like them to know that my family and I will not purchase from Home Depot again. Thank you.

Not a fan of dogs being allowed in stores and restaurants. Why is this becoming a thing? What happened to dogs being left at home? I was looking at patio furniture and a huge dog (leashed but loosely) approached me as its owner was busy looking at something. I saw two more dogs on this shopping trip. If my son, a toddler, had been with me, I would have left immediately. Home depot, please reconsider your dog policy. Not safe or necessary to have dogs in stores. If anything, require they be muzzled.

This is going to be a little long but trust me, it will be well worth the read. The four star rating (I thought hard about giving it 3 stars) represents the store as a whole which is unfortunate for Carl, a manager at the store. If Carl's employees cared for the customer as much as he does, I'd give this store five stars. First off, this store is only one mile from my home so even if all of the employees were like the two I had to deal with at customer service, I'd still shop there anyway because it's close to my home. However, because of Carl, I will definitely shop there and will give the store an underserving high rating. Although, I will keep Carl in mind if I ever get treated like I did by the two unnamed customer service employees who not only took 45 minutes to NOT serve me but spoke to me very rudely. When I asked what was going on with my order that I was there to pick up, the guy said, don't know. When I asked if I need to come back the next day, he said, maybe. When I said I'm two minutes away from talking to the manager, he said, ok. At this point Carl walked by. I didn't know he was a manager when he asked me if I was being waited on when I simply responded, doubtful. Carl stopped in his tracks, spun around and walked up to the service desk to ask the two rude and unprofessional customer service employees why I wasn't being helped (I didn't mention to Carl they were rude and unhelpful) and it didn't take Carl long to not only get me help, he also gave me a completely unexpected and unnecessary, but very generous refund to make up for the long wait while receiving no help. Hats off to people who like their job like Carl that believe in good customer service. I thank Carl for being an example to workers that do a job that they obviously don't want to do. After posting this I did think of some other workers that do look to help customers so I wanted to mention that all in all there are some good employees there but it's a shame that they get overlooked because of the employees with poor customer service.

Someone lost my item either the Postal Service Round Lake or Home Depot Round Lake. I never got it when i was promised to get it. I will never shop or shop online with this company ever again. I learned my lesson. I'll just go with Menards or Lowes. Theyll never lose your item. I promise I'll never shop here.

What can I say? I was there for 4 hours of my day, looking for a new riding mower. First they tried to sell me a mower without an engine, next they showed me a mower that was used and out of shape. When I finally broke down to buy their newest riding mower, I got it all the way home only to find that it did not work. It is currently in the shop and it seems I have to wait two or three weeks to actually pick it up. Went back to the shop only to be told it was not their responsibility, they printed me out an owner's manual and told me to call the company to rectify the problem. Beyond upset. Home Depot should stand by their products and service and replace the lawn mower, at the very least.

Probably never coming back here, even though it is close to home. Although I have had good experiences in the past and spent a lot of money here, this last trip took the cake and brought me over the ledge. After looking at riding mowers all day at the location (they had 4), I bought the newest and most affordable one, however, they first tried to sell me one with no engine (which they returned to the sales floor), next, they had one in their rental cage which was not charged and did not have all its pieces attached, and when I finally decided on the newest lawn mower, I got it home only for it to run for a few seconds prior to shutting down. When I tried to return the product with my receipt, the next day, they said there was nothing they could do about it, printed me an owner's manual, and told me to call the company that built it. The mower is now in the shop and I have to wait two or three weeks to get a working mower. This location is close to home, but I think I will go to Menard's from now on. I don't care for people who don't stand by their own product, and are unwilling to sell fairly.

My husband went to the store to purchase a lawn mower. They ordered it and two were delivered. We called and the local store sent someone to pick it up and told us we would get the credit on our credit card when he returned. That didn't happen, even though they had the returned mower just sitting at their customer service desk. They told us we had to prove that we received two charges on our credit card statement. I asked why that mattered if we had returned one. They couldn't find record of two being delivered I was told. We had to physically show them our credit card statement despite the fact that they had picked up the extra mower with the refund slip attached. While my husband was there, they then found the extra charge on their .com service. A hassle that shouldn't have occurred since error was on their part.

Horrible customer service. I spent to much time trying to find an associate to assist me. Last night was not the first time either. After 7 minutes I found someone who while assisting another customer, I had asked if he could help me when finished. I asked him if he was the only one working there which he proceeded to grin as if he knew exactly what I meant. I wanted to speak to the manager and share my dissatisfaction to the level of customer service but I was not willing to wait any longer in the customer service desk line to speak to him. If it was not for the fact that this store is only 2 minutes from my house I would avoid it like the plague. Put a ACE, True Value or Lowes in the same area and I would never visit this HD again.

spent over an hour and a half waiting to pick up an order they said was ready. Was told that we hadn't been waiting that long. Order wasn't ready.

Worst customer service I've ever had! And that goes right up through management but that's what you get when a business is so big that it no longer values its customers smh

The service here is incredibly poor. We stopped in to look at rugs (we know what we wanted) so we headed to the rug section. We first stopped to look at kitchens as we are planning to do ours soon - and not a single person asked us if we wanted help. Three people walked by, only one nodded and not a single hello, how are you or how can we help. After we looked we headed to rugs which was the point of the visit. Two associates were busy working on a computer and while both looked up, neither wanted to help. We moved back over to kitchens and asked for help. We were pointed back to the two who ignored us. After asking about ordering a rug - no one had an answer. The young man who was from kitchens asked someone else for help. You are going to love the answer.... you ready.... (now remember, we wanted to order a rug - actually a 12x15 rug - this wasn't to be a small purchase, just wanted to see what they had and delivery options). She looked at me and said, I should go to Home Depot.com and do it there unless it was in stock in the store. My reply, "so you're saying I should just go online and look and order it myself?" - to which she replied, "Yes" - and walked off. Horrible. Letting money walk out the door.....I really do loathe going into the Home Depot, but then again that is the service they are known for.
