I bought a piece of red velvet cake from the bakery today and it was hard and nasty. Not the 1st time I've been disappointed with that section of the store. Otherwise the rest of the store is good.

You really have to watch your receipts as some of the cashiers are very error prone . Also some of the items that are on sale don't ring up with the sales price!

Thanks for selling dairy products almost a week old. Yes, I probably should have looked so it's my fault. But that fact this is still on their shelves is ridiculous.

I recently visited Jewel Osco and overall had a positive experience. The store is clean, well-organized, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I found almost everything I needed quickly, and the produce section was particularly impressive with its freshness and variety.
However, I did find the spirit selection to be somewhat lacking. While they carry a decent range of popular brands, the variety isn’t as extensive as I had hoped. I was looking for a few specific types of whiskey and rum that they didn’t carry. It would be great if they could expand their offerings to include more niche and craft spirits.
Despite this, Jewel Osco remains a convenient and reliable place for my grocery shopping, and I will definitely continue to shop here. I hope to see a wider selection of spirits in the future.

Most of the people at this store are not nice. If you ask for help, good luck. I’ve never really experienced a group of people that if you ask which aisle a certain item is (OH I DON’T KNOW) not professional at all. If you don’t know, at least make an attempt to ask someone who may. The older woman that works up front is way past retirement. She is just evil, and there’s three more men who usually works the service desk, has no people skill whatsoever ever. How this store has a 4.1 rating is unheard of!!!

I went this afternoon at 430pm stood at deli guy asks what I wanted I tell him pound of oven roasted turkey he leaves walks into cooler comes back after two minutes looks at me saying we only have one deli cutter and then walks away from me. Then the other employee starts to clean the other deli cutter, and he starts to take orders skip me twice, and then patiently waiting and getting skipped I feel because of the color of my skin he walked away again goes into the cooler comes back and just looks at me then I asked what do I have to do to get a pound of turkey here I’ve been waiting a half hour. I turned around to go get a manager and the employee at the At the deli cutter start yelling at me. I would’ve took your order if you didn’t walk away I had to walk away to get a manager. That was ridiculous. I’ll never go back there again.

I went in to the location on a Cheap chicken Monday and Lamont an employee from the deli took really good care of me he made sure my chicken was fresh and he took pride in his job as a deli clerk he seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the lack of help he had but he took control and got both fryers going and knocked those orders out of the ball park we need more good workers like Lamont I wanted to acknowledge his generosity and excellent customer service Thank you! I will be returning.

This particular Jewel has a problem with their ice cream freezers. Numerous times, I have purchased ice cream or novelties and found them melted, deformed and refrozen.

I've been sick of our Jewel for a long time, but today was kind of the last straw. I really wish there was another option in the area, I think at this point it's going to be worth my while to drive a little further to go somewhere decent.
Where to begin? Prices are mediocre at best. Produce quality is ~6/10. Their app, which is the only way to get something resembling a fair price from time to time, keeps getting buggier and harder to use (seemingly by design). Staff are frustrating. The teenagers running their checkout lines move like molasses in January and bag things indiscriminately - I can buy 4 of the same item, and you can bet they'll end up in 4 different bags. And when I decide to go to the self checkout because they only have 2 checkout lines open that are both backed up into the liquor aisles, I get grief from the employee monitoring the self checkouts because she thinks I have too many items, despite there being no stated limit and 2 or 3 other open kiosks.
The in-store experience being so frustrating, my wife and I will sometimes order delivery through the app. Setting aside how buggy that experience is, I thought the convenience would be nice. We even sprung for the FreshPass. Where to begin with the issues? Let's list the frequent problems:
- Bag packers frequently grab lower quality produce
- Bag packers package delicate items inappropriately (I'll often get delicate produce like tomatoes or avocadoes packaged with heavy things like canned goods, and end up with badly bruised items by the time I get them)
- Bag packers package meat unsafely (I've gotten raw chicken and beef bagged with fresh produce in unsealed bags)
Even based on that, we bite the bullet because we have a 2-year-old and a newborn, so we need all the time back we can get. But today they really outdid themselves. My wife placed an order this morning and then left the house with our kids, I was working from home and brought the order in when it got delivered in the afternoon. We just got around to looking over the order and realized that well over $100 of food is missing. We have no meat, no dairy, no eggs, no produce. We just got cereal, paper products, some drinks, some non-perishables, and that's about it.
I can understand a few items missing, but this is our entire set of meals for the week. Our toddler has no milk. We have no eggs to make her for breakfast. We have no meat to put in her spaghetti. My wife has no milk for the 4 boxes of cereal they actually did deliver. I called up the store and spoke to a manager (I believe from produce), who offered zero apology and zero follow-up. He just said there was nothing he could do, and to call back in the morning when the grab and go manager was there.
Our family relies on this service not being a complete dumpster fire, and they can't even seem to muster that. After spending well into the 10s of thousands of dollars at this store over the years, I think I'm about done.

Jewel has great quality produce unlike Walmart and Meijer. The workers are always friendly and helpful and there's really no wait to check out when you're done shopping. I'd rather come here and spend a bit more on groceries than the other grocers around my area.
