The YWCA Literary Council provides free classes through group and individualized tutoring programs to adults seeking to enhance the quality of their lives by improving their English language comprehension, reading, writing, and English as a second language (ESL) skills.
The organization has been advocating for literary awareness and services in the Rockford region since 1985. In 2022, the Literacy Council was acquired by YWCA Northwestern Illinois. As a united organization, it is able to provide greater access to vital services for the people of our community.
We Serve:
Adults age 17+ not enrolled in school
Individuals whose first language in not English
