I called and spoke with Alex about lumber pricing and delivery cost. Alex was very helpful and professional. When I arrived to see the material I was purchasing i was greeted by Cole. He had a ticket ready for me and guided me to the lumber in question. The quality of the lumber, pricing, knowledge and especially the professional experience these guys showed me is very much appreciated. All my lumber needs in the future will come from Schmelings.

Stopped by for the first time ever. Staff was unfriendly, told me to go across the parking lot to a building where the hardwood was stored. Told me he would call and let them know to let me in. Stood outside freezing for a good 5 minutes and finally gave up. I guess I haven't missed anything good there.

My dream come true, old school lumberyard!! Stopped in to inquire about wood for some shelves. Directed to a bldg and soon after we had 2 walnut shelves cut to size. My husband had to sand and finish but quite the luxury to have personalized service just walking in. Better experience than any big box store for sure. Only came upon it on my day trip to Galena, taking the scenic route.

I went to Schmeling because I was building my own home and the wife wanted knotty alder trim, floor casing and window jams. Some of my window jams are 14 inches so the knotty alder had to be glued together and milled since knotty alder trees are not that wide. I like to support the local old school lumber yards if I possibly can. They hand milled every bit in my house at a reasonable price. I wish I could remember the name of their employee that did it all because he did an outstanding job. I was very happy that things looked good and process was smooth. Building my first house was stressful and this experience with Schmeling helped reduce some of it. It was one trade I didn't have to freak out over. Big thanks to these guys at Schmeling Lumber. You made the wife happy. ?

Called on Friday told them I wanted to come in order some Versetta stone on Saturday. The person said ok and told me I had to put a deposit down, no problem. We go there Saturday the person I talked to didn't now anything said we would have to come back on Monday. We both work so Saturday is our only day off. So instead of selling us stone and looking for wood flooring and trim you chose not to help us. So we went to Benson Stone and ordered everything we needed. It's nice to know that your willing to give up a $2000.00 cash deal and our future business.

This place is a joke! Came in for 5/4 deck boards that were sold out around town. Paid double the price of everywhere else obviously the company is price gouging! The lumber was extremely warped! Even after I told them that they were double the price of Menards, they said that there wood was better quality, which was a lie! The quality was not there because they were all twisted and bent! Thank god for RP lumber in Belvedere for filling the rest of my order Because there was no way I was going to go back to this Company. Good luck if this is your last resort to find lumber you would be better off waiting for Menards to get a shipment!

I had no idea schmeling lumber could do so much custom work. They have all the tools and machines needed to do any custom job needed. The can match any wood design and have over 150 different species of woods available. Amazing
