Bad attitudes, an employee Scott not sure which one I was told there were two , extremely rude, like dealing with a strict parent . Gave me a hard time for no good reason just because he could have guess , the waiting room was full and he really could have cared less . I’ll never use this Hertz in Rockford!

Car smelled like black ice perfume to hide the cigarette smell. Adds additional fees and lied about charges to screw you over. Refuses to give you any real numbers to break down the charges so you know what you are paying for. Wish I could give zero stars.

Horrible customer service. They don’t know how to talk to their customers. I spoke to this the man for not even 30 seconds and his level of frustration with his day was high. Not the customers fault. Especially one that’s respectful and is well mannered. These people are NOT the people for this job. If they are they need more customer service training

The car was filthy inside and out there was straw in the back of my car . The wait time to get the car and return it was ridiculous. I will avoid going back to hertz if I can help it . My car was getting repaired and my insurance company sent me to this company. You need to hire more people. One person was helping the whole place both times. Terrible customer service . Some customers told me that they waited 4 hours and they had reservations. I waited 3 hours before picking up my rental and when I returned it I ended up waiting 1 hour.

Bad experience two times in a row. Both times the lobby was full of people and line was very slow moving. Judging by the pace it would have taken over an hour to get waited on. No acknowledgement from any workers that wait times were longer or any urgency to address.
Ended up not renting either time and will never use hertz again.

I decided to reserve a car from hertz as it was previously recommended to me. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the facility was clearly understaffed as there was only one employee and one person being assisted and an additional 5 waiting for service ahead of me. When it became my turn I was told that they only had one van available and it had the check engine light on but it had passed inspection and nothing appeared to be wrong with it. I needed the car type to be a van due to the size of my family and the amount of space that we needed and being that it was the only van I had no option but to accept it. I had pre paid reservations for different activities and lodging accommodations that had already been paid for and I could not change without taking a financial loss with such short notice. I had not been informed of this issue with my rental until I was at the facility for my scheduled pick up date and time therefore not allowing me any time in advance to find any alternatives. When we received the car, the Windshield appeared to have been replaced as it still had the tape. My husband works in the industry and when a windshield is replaced, all safety systems are supposed to be calibrated according to Chrysler OE statement. The eyesight camera was supposed to be recalibrated, but it had not because we kept getting forward collision warnings even though there was nothing in front of us therefore we had to disable the system in order to be able to drive safely to our destination if not it would’ve kept breaking on its own. We where told that the car was looked over by a hertz mechanic and it was ok to drive despite having check engine light on. We kept getting a warning of a hybrid system malfunction and the check engine light. The car was filthy it had gum stuck in middle row behind driver seat. It was not cleaned after previous use. Seats were sticky all over. I found pink sunglasses under passenger seat further supporting my suspicion that it was not cleaned properly. I also found a melted crushed peanut M&M, when one of my kids has a peanut allergy. Windshield was very dirty hard to see out of, we had to spend over an hour of our trip taking it to get washed and to try to wipe away whatever film was making the window appear foggy and therefore affecting our nighttime visibility. During our trip the car kept disconnecting from our phone, and we were 100% reliant on the phone gps. The only way to reconnect the phone was to pullover in order for the phone to let us reconnect. We had a very tight scheduled itinerary so we could not afford to waste any time from vacation to go to a local Hertz to get another vehicle. Upon return during a rainstorm the ac system stopped working we had to pull over and wait it out as there was no way to de-fog the windows and drive I'm quite disappointed, I made a reservation for a van a month in advance all to be forced to take a vehicle that was disfunctional and they offered no alternate accommodations. Way to go Herz, I won't be using your service again.

Rented a car, prepaid for the car, go to pick up the car and they don't even have a car for us. We were going on a family vacation. I only have a small car so we rented a mini van to get us on our way. So when they didn't have a van that we prepaid for we had to scramble to find a large vehicle. Lost a whole day of vacation due to this. Very disappointed in the service at this Hertz

If I could give zero stars I would. I had a prepaid week car rental through priceline with insurance. Pickup time was scheduled for noon. When I got there AT noon an employee was locking the door. I told him I have a car rental to pick up. He told me they closed at noon. He told me I was out of luck and that I should've arrived earlier than my pickup time! He did not try to help what so ever. He was rude and did not care. Horrible experience.

I recently rented a vehicle from Hertz from the Rockford location. I rented it for a week, and though the vehicle itself was great, returning it was costly. I picked up the vehicle on a Friday afternoon and brought it back Monday. I thought it would cost me about $300.00 for the 4 days. There was 95 miles that were driven and it sat in driveway for 2 days. When the vehicle was returned, the "gentleman" that I dealt with informed me that I would have to pay an extra $400.00, because he said there was " dirt , dust and a smell of cigarette smoke. I told him in no uncertain terms that that was a lie. But it didn't change anything. I was offered a "chance" to take it to a car wash , but I refused because I knew I was getting ripped off .
I tried calling Hertz to discuss the issue, but of course no human would answer the phone. Soy next step is filing a complaint with the BBB. Use caution with Hertz in Rockford, they will rip you off.
