Best possible car ordering/trade-in experience!! Everyone was wonderful and went above and beyond. My salesman, Dave, even helped move my car seats around between my cars! A+

Poor customer service from management. Drove hours to deal with them on a very specific vehicle I had been looking for. They were woefully unfamiliar with out of state procedures. Charged incorrectly, took weeks to get reimbursed. Veh required service for a known issue, gm Rick refused to cover the cost and wanted me to drive all the way back for them to do it in house. Lesson learned.

Mr. Shields was very condescending, and they basically expect you to pay the sticker price...which no one is going to do. Lost a sale over a couple of thousand and his abrasive manner. Oh, well.

My car has been at this location for 11 months now awaiting a chip for a Ford Transmission recall issue. We understand that there is a shortage for this part but that isn't quite the issue. when we brought it in we were adv that there was only 1 other person ahead of us to get this part. then 3 months later we were adv that person had gone elsewhere and so we were moved to be the first to get it. I just called in today and they stated they had only gotten 1 chip in the last 6 months and it went to someone ahead of us. I adv they we had been getting told for 8 months now that we were the next in line. They only said they will have to talk to the manager when he gets back in a week. Also, several months back we had gone to take care of the car. (No care is being taken by Shields) We adv that the tire was parked half off a concrete slab and was putting undo stress on the tire. The battery was dead so we couldn't move it ourselves. When we again went out the to clean the car the car had never been moved and the tire was flat and it was sitting on the rim and the battery still dead. We did go in again and they have since at least aired up the tire. Still not happy at being passed over for the part we needed. Still waiting on a resolution.

terrible customer service!!!! my wife and i were 300 miles from home and caught a flat tire which i replaced the wheel with the donut for the time being until we found an auto center. being in the middle of nowhere it was hard to find a shop that had the tire. after driving for miles we found shields auto and were extremely hopeful they would help especially since i had the wheel off already. nope!! they were too busy conversating with a different customer and watched me stand there for 10 minutes before even greeting me at all!!! not even a hello well be with you. oh yea what were they talking about you may ask??? college basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after 10 minutes i was immediately told they have no time to help me until next week!! are you serious!!! there was like nobody there!!!! we then proceeded to Champaign where we were extremely lucky to find a shop that actually likes helping customers!! especially ones who are almost stranded in the middle of nowhere!!!! never give this place any of your money they do not care about their customers at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter got ripped off by these clowns. Below is her post For anyone around Rantoul thinking of going to Shields in Rantoul, DON'T. We bought a Tahoe from there middle of June, called the end of June to tell the of issues and never could get through to the service center. A few days later I called and got though and the guy I spoke to came off as extremely arrogant and told me we were out of luck because we were past our two week warranty (when we could could get through we were within the two week). The guys told me he doesn't know what's wrong with it and it needs to be brought in. I wasn't driving 3 hours to bring it in and it not be under warranty. After taking it to the chevy dealership twice here to finally figure out the issue it needs a whole new transmission. I 100 percent belive they knew of the issue prior to selling it. Several people said how bad that place was and now we know first hand.

I just spent an hour sitting waiting for approval to buy a new car, only to have them tell me that no, some other company asked to buy it and the guy that was working on that told no one, and only worked 6 months out of the year and his last day was yesterday. I told the seller that I wanted to drive it off the lot that day, and still they pulled some BS. Never going back, and will certainly tell everyone not to go there.

i'm not an unreasonable person. i do not like to complain nor do i like to make a fuss. nine times out of ten, if my food is wrong at a restaurant or something wrong happens in a service industry, i don't say a word. today i went car shopping with my father as i am expecting twins and need a larger vehicle. our first stop was at Shields Auto Center in Paxton. i can appreciate small businesses, i would much rather give my business so smaller business than big corporate places but today, what happened was totally unacceptable. we test drove said vehicle and went inside to talk numbers. after discussing numbers and not being able to reach an agreement, we said our goodbyes and left--no hard feelings. well, not twenty minutes later did we get a phone call from the salesman offering us a deal on the vehicle. we said absolutely, we were eating lunch and we would be back. we get back to the dealership and someone else was test driving the car we had just made a verbal agreement on, and they were also going over the numbers. we were told to wait and "see what happens" with the other individuals. after i made a comment to my father about how this was shady, as we already had a verbal agreement, the sales manager flies out of his office to lecture me on how they were not shady, and he had no idea about our deal that HIS employee had made with us...sure. so, these other individuals made a deal on the car as well and they were the ones purchasing it after we had already made a deal for it. like i said, we are not unreasonable people, and we know car purchasing is a nightmare but this was absolutely unacceptable. zero integrity at Shields Auto Group.

I had been looking for a car all across Champaign-Urbana. All the dealerships in that area were either 1. taking advantage because it was my first car purchase or 2. had cars that were very overpriced and refused to take the price down despite it showing otherwise on Kelly Blue Book. So I went out to Rantoul, and found Shields. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I found my car in 10 minutes and I felt the price was just right. I highly recommend coming out here to look for a car. Every dealership in CU tries too hard to take advantage of their customers.

Zach E. I recommend not getting the extended warranty. Had a starter problem and a few other small things the warranty covers. But since it wasn't acting up at their shop on their time. It didn't need replaced. Warranty is a rip off.

I bought an SUV from this dealership. They told me everything was good to go and they figured out the check engine light issue. It seems like every couple weeks since I purchased the vehicle there is another issue that reveals itself. I was told by a salesman I could call their service center for issues with the vehicle. A couple weeks later I called them about a gas gage problem and they told me that they could not do anything about it and to find a different center. Not an intelligent way to market for your company.

This was my first time ordering a new vehicle and Mark made it super easy and was very helpful. He took the time to explain all the options and answered all of my questions. Placed my order and it was in sooner than I expected. Shields was a great place to buy from, and Mark was an excellent salesman!

I was shopping with a parent for a new vehicle which is a daunting task when your parents begin to need assistance. We had looked at multiple dealerships and even tried the internet sales departments at most. A friend suggested we check with Shields. Having never been there we figured we would go look and see what they had. We found the perfect vehicle and figured we would ask about it. The sales staff didn't mob us like at the other dealerships we'd been to. We met Terry and instantly he put my fathers mind at ease. The whole process was painless and efficient. I am NOT a fan of dealerships but this was a very easy trip. Shields staff was helpful and courteous at every turn. The truck we bought was spotless the bank paperwork explained without the typical dealer sales pitch and we decided to purchase that day. A difficult situation was made very easy by Terry and his surrounding staff!!! If you're not a dealership kind of person I recommend giving Shields and Terry a shot.

I went to Shields Auto Center seeking a new truck and was pretty much blown away by the close family atmosphere from everyone I met, especially Terry Twitchell, whom I had previous experience with. Terry is a great guy, very knowledgeble, easy to talk to, and a very stand-up guy. I'm very happy with the entire process from Terry to Teresa to meeting Greg. I love my truck and I will be coming to Shields Auto for service and whenever we need a new vehicle. Just can't say enough about the warm family atmosphere which I didn't experience at other dealerships. I will refer to others about my positive experience there.

We have had nothing but excellent service here. Not only did they give us a great price for buying our truck, they have us a really great deal on the truck we purchased from them. Since then, we've been back for all of our tire rotations and oil changes. Their forever warranty has already helped us twice with the vehicle (if you get all of the maintenance done on time, then every major repair is covered). I hate feeling cheated when you go to a car place that tries to scam you out of every penny, so I really appreciate their honesty. You get a free oil change after you get a certain number of oil changes with them (maybe the fifth one is free?), earn money off future repairs when you get oil changes through them, and they never push unnecessary things on us. I recommend them to everyone who is buying a new car.
