When I signed up for a gym originally, I was very hesitant, especially after my first interaction with a different gym which was a very aggressive and made me feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. Planet Fitness in Plainfield is 100% the opposite. The staff are always friendly and as I've began to come more regularly, they acknowledge me, and my hard work, and are pleasant. The machines are always clean, and while they don't have the hugest variety, for the price they are exactly what I need. The showers and locker rooms are always open, and generally clean, with a few exceptions here or there. Highly recommend for a starter gym, or for a great place to work into your morning workout routine.

I love the place and equipment. The best part is nobody bothers you for getting a trainer every other day. I have been to other gyms, but this is by for my favorite.

This location is disgusting. I've been a member of Planet Fitness since 2013. I travel around the country and go to many locations all over the country. Planet Fitness is an excellent run company. This negative review does not reflect my opinion on Planet Fitness. It is solely on this location.They are all normally very clean and well run. I've been at this Plainfield location for years now. I tried to explain to this manager about the concerns that me and other customers have said. I told the manager of the issues with the weights and the issue about many members not wiping down the equipment after using it. I am writing this review to let others know the way that Darcy the manager takes care of dirty equipment at this location. I've been to many P.F. locations across the country and have not seen it as bad as this. At this location there are soooo many guests that don't wipe down the machines, hydromassage beds, and massage chairs. Many times I wait for someone to finish and they simply walk away from the bed leaving it glissening with sweat. I know for a fact that you can get RINGWORM from sweat on an uncleaned surface. Sooo gross. I've heard of other facilities other than P.F. gyms that have hydromassage beds wait for the member to finish there use of the bed, then after they are complete, they wipe bed down before another member uses bed. The weights on the leg press and other bench machines are scattered about. The guests should put them back, but they don't. It's the employees and management's job to keep them in place. I've discussed these issues with other people at the gym, and they've all said they've told Darcy about the guests not cleaning the machines and beds. People also sit on their phone keeping guest off a machine they want to use, if another isn't available because there's only one of that machine and nothing gets done. Put up more signs, and maybe larger signs. This used to be a better managed location. It's ashame to see it slip. Update: I went to my new P.F and what did I see. Everyone wiping down equipment and EVEN WIPING DOWN THE TANNING BEDS AFTER USE! I haven't seen that being done at Plainfield location in quite some time.

Great staff that feels like home. The Planet Fitness in Plainfield is a great gym to workout at. They have up to date equipment, great facilities, tanning, water jet bed and massage chairs. Never seen a piece of equipment down!
Most important is the gym has a throw back feel where the staff know who you are and not just a name on the screen. Samantha, Darcy, and Maya always greet me by name with a smile before I ever scan in. They even remember that I start with 10 minutes in the massage chair and have the coins ready. They treat EVERYONE like this though and that is why it is so special. I have seen the the gym with guests 20 to every employee ratio at peak hours yet the necessities are always taken care of.
There are visitors from other Planet Fitness’s that stop in who maybe don’t share the same wipe down and courtesy as our Plant Fitness but the staff always does their best to maintain the highest standards. Samantha, Darcy and Maya are a true credit to this gym. Come and see for yourself!

We like this gym a lot. Staff are friendly and cleaning frequently. I was pleasantly surprised to see them actually clean the top of the machines as well as underneath; I also saw staff clean up some trash outside as well. We also appreciate the readily available disinfectant sprays and towels. I've been to several gyms (XSport, Crunch, our clubhouse, Anytime Fitness, Rush-Copley) and none are close to the level of cleanliness that this Planet Fitness displays. The music can be loud at times but it does drown out some annoying conversations. I do wish they would get rid of the 30 minute workout area. I've never seen anyone actually do a 30 minute work. The area should be converted into an enclosed boxing area with kicking bags and maybe speed bags as well.

I will start off by saying if I could give zero stars I would. This is the absolute worst planet fitness I have ever been to. I’ve only had my membership for a little over a month and every time I’ve came to this Plainfield, IL location I have been racially discriminated against from the staff themselves. This is the most judged I’ve ever felt at a gym & it’s every single time I come here. I thought planet fitness was a “no judgement zone”. The staff always harasses me and accuses me of stealing someone else’s account even though I’ve shown proof that it is my account that I am paying for. They’ve called the police on me because they didn’t believe me. Then, when the police asked them for proof of their suspicions they were suddenly unable to pull ANYTHING up for my profile at all. The police asked them to give me corporates number and the male employee LIED TO THE OFFICER and stated they only had a manager, so then the officer asked for the managers number and the male employee stated no one had management’s number either. At that point the police told them they are wasting everyone’s time. I am paying for the black card membership which allows me to bring a guest anytime but instead I’ve been unable to even bring a guest with me at this location over the harassment I’ve been getting of them telling me my account isn’t mine. Every single employee at this location has made it a specific mission of theirs to harass me every time I come into this planet fitness. They always give me ignominious glances & stares. I’ve even asked to close my account due to how uncomfortable they have made me and they refused!!!! I would not recommend going to this location.

I’d like to give 5 stars because this is a great Planet Fitness. The machines work and are kept clean the staff is usually pretty great. However when I checked in today there was a younger woman named Sophia who was yelling at the other counter associate and threatening him if she was to be called bossy again. He was super polite and well mannered even when she was so off putting. I felt like I should mention something considering the guy she yelled at was also super helpful when I decided to go to another gym for a couple months. He also did a really good job when I came back to planet fitness. Just didn’t feel right that this woman was yelling at this spectacular employee who went way above and beyond in the past.
It’s been a few months and I felt obligated to change this to a 5 star review. I see Sophia often after writing this review and she’s always working hard and treats me with respect. I’m sure that’s difficult after the above review. I have to say wow to management and the staff here. I travel often and have been to countless plant fitness and this is 100% a top tier location!!! My only complaint is it’s getting a little too busy at times in here.
