Birdwatching, walking, bike riding... Whatever you're into, you will not be disappointed.Amazingly beautiful scenery at this place that feel like you're on vacation when you're here.Depending on when you go, you will see lots of people taking pictures of the bird sanctuary or fishing in the lake.Fall is the best time to come and enjoy the scenery here but anytime is pretty good.Definitely worth a shot to check this place out ?

Always a special place just to relax or take a casual stroll. The beauty is inspiring and uplifting to the soul. Well kept grounds add to the beauty and the birds that frequent there are abundant. Bring your binoculars. Bring your lunch. And bring your sense of joy.

I've came here a few times and I wonder why my review got deleted? This place is absolutely beautiful! Tons of stuff to do and see, the trail has recently been repaved. Very well maintained by the city of Plainfield. Plenty of parking but use advisory from coming in from the Lockport road access.

Beautiful trail! Very nice walk with the family. Sadly, the little one dragged his feet through the gravel path all the way through. I know blacktopping that path wouldn't only be expensive, but also a large shock to the wildlife.

NO BIKES/FISHING/DOGSwas searching for some good bike trails near Plainfield and saw other reviews mention great paths for biking and fishing while I was here a cop coming down the trail, alerted us there’s absolutely no bikes fishing or dogs tolerated at this preserve due to heron protection. She noted that there were several signs at the entrance but I obviously wasn’t expecting/looking out for a no bikes sign, didn’t even know that was a thing. Besides that great preserve ??

I hate to sling around 5-star reviews but this place is special. Beautiful asphalt trails. Bring your bicycle! I heard someone beating on a drum, I thought. I looked in time to see a swan flying low over the lake, reflected in the water surface. Haven't seen the heron area yet because of nest area protection. Good parking. Security for visitors doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm going back this weekend.

New Family Tradition!I can't believe my own memories, it was so unreal.Stopped to stretch our legs and found this spectacular space.Open vault rest room, no running water, manicured picnic lawn, benches, two gazebos. The birds are everywhere! Dancing, playing, diving, courting...But you can't hear themUntil they're right in front of you!Amazing!

I started exploring this forest preserve since the pandemic begun. Since then I come here at least 5x a week. I would have never gone here if the gyms didn't close. This 839 acre forest preserve used to be a network of quarries which was filled with water. It is now a breeding location for wading birds, so half of the preserve is closed from March 1 to mid August. It is a beautiful place to jog, bike or walk in paved paths. There is an abundance of flora and fauna and breathtaking views if you are into photography. It has one clean restroom, three gazebos and about 4 benches if you need to rest. Sometimes I pack a lunch and enjoy the breeze and some music using my iphone earphones while I rest and hydrate. It is so peaceful and relaxing here, perfect place to have an alone time. Fishing is allowed year-round. People that work here and come here are friendly. I usually come alone and I feel safe here. I'll keep coming until temperatures drop below 40, although I'm curious what this place looks like in winter.
