After J & R Auto inspected the car, I felt they did a great job reporting their findings and explaining their recommendations for repair. “I was referred to SJM Autowerks by a broker who couldn’t say enough good things about Steve and his team. I was planning to purchase a used vehicle and really wanted some guidance on what to get so I contacted Steve. He was so helpful and knowledgeable about the different makes and models - what to look for and what to steer clear of. I truly felt like he had my best interests in mind as he spent the time answering my many questions. Once I found a vehicle, I once again contacted Steve and brought the car to him. I was particularly blown away by the thorough inspection that included photographs and a level of detail I had never seen before from a mechanic. He recapped everything that should be considered from a maintenance perspective as well as a timeline for when it should be done. It was next level care that I appreciated. “I would like to thank Reynaldo and Angel for their up most professionalism. I took my car in today for an oil change. This was my third visit at this location. Apparently the last two visits Jiffy Lube was putting in the wrong oil. I’m suppose to be using Synthetic and the old technicians never caught this. Thankfully under new management it was caught. Reynaldo stated to me there is all new personal there now. They looked up all my vehicle information and made the correction. I’ve only had this car for eleven months. I can’t even imagine if this wasn’t caught what it would have done to my engine. Also for the first time they checked all lights, blinkers, air filter, tire pressure and wind shield wipers. I am so pleased with this service today. They went above and beyond. Thank you”

“Have an 04 Pilot with a ton of miles....needless to say don't want to spend a lot on repairs. Called Boss and spoke with the owner Vic...did a diagnostic for 125 and identified the issues with the car. Told him I'd think about it and he said if I proceeded with any of the suggested repairs he'd deduct the 125 diagnostic fee from any work I decided to. Two weeks later decided to proceed with one of the repairs and all the work was done to my satisfaction and the bill showed exactly what Vic said he'd do.Would recommend to anyone in need of auto repair in the area.”

Plus I really appreciate a place that offers “first responder discounts and discounts for vets.” My go to spot for car maintenance. Plus you can walk to Walmart or go get food if there is a wait. “I usually bring my car elsewhere for brakes and service. A few years back I tried Merlin’s it was close to the house and I have yet to be disappointed. Customer service to the repair has been a 5 in my book. As of now if service stays the same I will continue using Merlin’s in elgin.”

“Chris, the assistant manager at South Elgin, gave me huge peace of mind by explaining to me tips on how to check my oil and coolant levels before my long holiday road trip. My Honda has an odd design for its dipstick that makes it unnecessarily difficult to see the oil level. The coolant reservoir is hard to check, too. Chris assured me that my oil level was fine, and I didn't need an oil change yet. He provided superb customer service. He has now turned me into a loyal Valvoline future customer. Thanks so much!”
