Doug replaced the AC Compressor on my Hyundai, at cheaper than Mike Miller Hyundai’s quote, and under his own upfront estimate. And you can count on him using his vast experience to do it right vs chancing that you get a dealership tech that may or may not do a good job.
He used a genuine Hyundai compressor rather than ordering a cheaper refurbished part at autozone, for instance, that you’d have to worry about with some places. He read the Hyundai serial number to me when ordering it.
He fit me in right away, and explained the repair and took the time to answer questions. You can’t ask for a better mechanic! Be sure to give him a call.

Doug is a good guy. Seems to really enjoy fixing cars. Does the work quickly and cheaper than you'll find elsewhere. Explained what needed to be done and what could wait. Call, explain what's going on, have him take a look. He got us in and out the next day and we couldn't find anyone to even look at the car for weeks at the bigger shops.

Doug did a wonderful job on replacing the manual transmission of my Subaru. Seriously, the clutch works better than when I brought my car brand new.At the end of July I noticed troubling noises when engaging the clutch pedal. Then on my way home the noises became louder and more troubling. In addition, I started experiencing difficulty when changing gears and engine stalling. I was able to get home, but after my husband looked at it, we pushed it into our garage. The problems happening were obviously indicating a malfunction or failure within my transmission.The following week when I called shops to inquire if they perform transmission repairs and asking for quotes. Most declined giving a quote without me bringing my car to their shop for diagnosis (this is not uncommon, but I was trying to make a choice of where to take my car for repair). I expected surprises not exact pricing just an idea of the time frame and cost. Some shops did not work on transmission repairs. A few did not work on imports such as my Subaru. Furthermore, almost every shop I called (more than 10 total) were unable to schedule my repair for 2, 3, or 4 weeks due to their current workload.Whereas, Doug did not hesitate to give me approximate quote over the phone once I explained what I was experiencing. Luckily, for me Doug did not have a scheduling back log and could start work on my car the following week as soon at the needed parts arrived.In summary, I choose Doug's Automotive because he came across as a friendly, quirky, tell you exactly what's on his mind type of guy. He didn't act like I was being difficult by asking for a rough quote. His quote range started a few hundred lower to matching the others. The approximate repair time was also the same anyone else.Therefore, if you value honestly, fair pricing, reasonable timelines, and quality workmanship above all else, Doug is the right choice.Here are the facts: This shop is small. Most of the space around the shop looks like a mini salvage lot. You won't find Doug wearing coveralls. He isn't going to be giving you paperwork, if he has your contact info. He will not be bothered if your car is dropped off by the tow company without you. He probably won't contact you unless he has questions or a problem.You will get a simple receipt (no detailed work hours, just parts replaced). Come to get your vehicle in shoes you won't mind getting dirty.If any of the above information is unsettling to you, take your business elsewhere. Doug was happy to perform quality work. However, he was unbothered if I choose his business.Side note: Doug's shop and and the guy himself remind me of my best friend's father who did a lot repairs at home. Junky cars parked in their yard and tools and parts in their living room. He was a talented mechanic and enjoyed his work. He could be a really fun and charming individual. However, I doubt people asked for his assistance cared about appearances or a high level of customer service. You often are unable to have it all, instead you must choose what's most important.Services: Transmission replacement

Down to earth, honest, tell it like it is mechanic.I was on a road trip when I hit some engine trouble and of course the local dealership was booked out for weeks. I found Doug’s automotive and he had good reviews. It was spot on. Frontlines my issue, gave me more then a fair price, and didn’t try upselling anything.Great guy, definitely recommend over the dealership.
