Considering we didn't get a callback awaiting test results after two visits ... and spending 1000 plus AND also considering she stopped breathing Tuesday at home... What do think this broken hearted senior couple should have as an opinion

Midwest Animal Hospital and Dr. Sawa were amazing. We were distraught because our vet could not figure out why our cat could not eat or drink. They suggested a CT scan but had no CT machine, and all the places we contacted that had one said the wait would be a week or more. Dr. Sawa took our call, listened to our concerns, and recommended multiple immediate options that gave us answers within 48 hours and gave our dear cat the hydration and nutrition she needed right away. Dr. Sawa spent an exceptional amount of time explaining everything and answering all our questions. Highly recommend this animal hospital.

Best Vet around. I have several dogs and they have always been compassionate and efficient. They have saved a few on the brink. I cannot say enough about Dr. Settle, Dr. Lucas and Dr. Coyne the very best!

Our experience with Midwest Animal Hospital has been heartbreaking, and it has taken us over a year to share our story. On June 13, 2023, our dog Bella was brought in for routine bloodwork. Dr. Brooks decided to aspirate a mass on her hind paw, despite a previous evaluation indicating it was benign and nothing to worry about. What is most troubling, however, is that Dr. Brooks prescribed Carprofen to Bella for inflammation, despite Bella's known severe reaction to the drug in 2018 and noted SPECIFICALLY on her charts it should not be given (by Dr. Brooks herself).
Bella’s condition rapidly worsened after just four days of Carprofen, resulting in vomiting, anorexia, jaundice, and elevated liver enzymes. Despite multiple emergency visits and extensive treatments, Bella’s health continued to decline. After several days of suffering, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her down due to severe liver damage and gallbladder complications.
We trusted Midwest Animal Hospital with Bella's care and trusted deeply in Dr. Brooks over the years of bringing Bella to Midwest, but they showed negligence in prescribing a medication that was dangerous for her breed and her medical history caused her unnecessary pain and ultimately led to her death. The emotional toll on our family has been immense, and we hold Midwest Animal Hospital accountable for the loss of our beloved Bella.
Not only did Midwest Animal Hospital hold Bella for several days with no improvement, we had to watch helplessly as she suffered. By the time we sought help from another well-known hospital only days after, Bella was too far gone, despite their efforts to save her. The emotional pain of seeing her decline while trying to correct what should have never happened is something we will carry forever.
We miss you, Bell, more than words can express, and we share this to remind others to always advocate for their pets’ health. Don’t be afraid to question decisions, research medications, and ensure your beloved companions get the care they deserve.
