We have a very large, very sweet, but very intimidating Am Staff. We had an awful experience at a vet in Belleville and found All About Pets by a referral from our kennel. We initially saw Dr. Chris, who was absolutely amazing! He is patient and kind and listens to our concerns. We had our dogs annual checkup scheduled today and Brittany, the vet tech, was talking to us about the vet and told us that “she” would be in with us in a minute. I became uneasy, because I know Dr. Chris and trust him. When Dr. Melissa McDearmon came in she was so kind and loving towards our dog. Our dog has never been muzzled at a vet until our terrible experience at the other vet office in Belleville. Since that visit, he has always been muzzled for at least part of the visit. We can tell that he has become more anxious than usual after that visit. When she came in, Dr. McDearmon sat on the floor and talked to our dog, Diesel. She took her time to help his anxiety, she listened to our concerns and when the time came for me to put the muzzle on, she could tell that was his issue of anxiety. We took the muzzle off and Dr. McDearmon and Brittany completed the exam with no issues. I can not recommend the office enough. My husband and I were so impressed and relieved that it brought me to tears in the car on the way home. I am so thankful to have found All About Pets, Dr. Chris, Dr. McDearmon and the whole team there!

Be very careful if you want to choose this small practice, I can no longer recommend them despite loving my vet when allowed access to her.
I thought it was great to have an office that was close to my home, especially in case I had a sick pet that I wanted to get to the vet quickly or without a long car ride. Unfortunately I discovered that they aren’t equipped to handle this and refer out to emergency centers much farther away, even when you call as soon as they open and they deem your issue “not urgent”. I was lucky enough to get my pet in with another local clinic that did deem urinating blood an urgent matter, so we didn’t have to drive her far away and pay costly emergency room fees, but I don’t know that will always work out for others.
After I had my dog seen elsewhere and got her diagnosis (infection caused by E. Coli) I tried to get ahold of my vet again to get instructions on an upcoming procedure but never received the return call I was promised by office staff. I had to cancel the procedure that had been scheduled months in advance because I didn’t know if it was safe while my pet was being treated by the other hospital for the infection. I attempted to address the situation again after the procedure was canceled because I still hadn’t received a return call and was told I didn’t warrant a call from the actual vet because my dog was already seen elsewhere (at their suggestion) and that I shouldn’t have been told I would get a return call from my request to begin with.
I don’t think wanting to ask the actual medical professional a medical question is such a wild demand from a pet owner, especially when they didn’t see them for a current illness and have them scheduled for a procedure requiring anesthesia a few days later. All I wanted was reassurance that it was safe to go ahead with the appointment or confirmation that I needed to wait and reschedule after the infection cleared, but I was denied the chance and shamed for even expecting it to happen.

I'm very happy with my experiences with Dr. Chris and his veterinary team. My pets have needed urgent care on more than one occasion and Dr. Chris has always made room on his busy calendar. I'm very grateful for the care and compassion he has shown.

Be very careful if you want to choose this small practice, I can no longer recommend them despite loving my vet when allowed access to her. I thought it was great to have an office that was close to my home, especially in case I had a sick pet that I wanted to get to the vet quickly or without a long car ride. Unfortunately I discovered that they aren't equipped to handle this and refer out to emergency centers much farther away, even when you call as soon as they open. I was informed that because they are a small practice I should have known to have a secondary vet lined up for when my pet gets sick, despite never being informed of this at any point in the past. This is not something I have ever experienced at any other veterinary clinic and don't know why I was expected to have this understanding. After I had my dog seen elsewhere and got her diagnosis (infection caused by E. Coli) I tried to get ahold of my vet again to get instructions on an upcoming procedure but never received the return call I was promised by office staff. I had to cancel the procedure that had been scheduled months in advance because I didn't know if it was safe while my pet was being treated by the other hospital for the infection. I attempted to address the situation again after the procedure was canceled because I still hadn't received a return call and was told I didn't warrant a call from the actual vet because my dog urinating blood wasn't that serious and my dog was already seen elsewhere (at their suggestion). I was also informed I shouldn't have been told I would get a return call from my request to begin with because they do not have enough staff to guarantee responsiveness. I don't think wanting to ask the actual medical professional a medical question is such a wild expectation from a pet owner, especially when they didn't see them for a current illness and have them scheduled for a procedure requiring anesthesia a few days later. All I wanted was reassurance that it was safe to go ahead with the appointment or confirmation that I needed to wait and reschedule after the infection cleared, but I was denied the opportunity. Update: I received my pet's records and discovered that the front office staff that took notes from my calls (TW) was not the person I spoke to and the notes they left were judgmental and inaccurate. They stated my call requesting to speak to my vet about an upcoming procedure was only a call to say I took my pet elsewhere. There was no note indicating what I truly asked for. They also labeled me "hysterical" on all of my pets files for being tearful and scared on the phone when my pet's urine turned to pure blood. It's clear I wasn't listened to, my concerns weren't taken seriously and I was dismissed for being a concerned pet owner. The office staff is why you can't rely on the practice.

I just recently had to make the hardest decision to put my baby, Olivia, to sleep. Dr. McDearmon and Carolyn were amazing and attentive and took the most amazing care of my sweet girl until the very end. Dr. McDearmon sat down with me and talked over all the options and possibilities and helped me make the ultimate choice. She explained the process and let me hold Olivia during it. She comforted me and my husband the entire time.If you’re going through a similar situation, I couldn’t recommend this team more. They were so compassionate and thoughtful. I couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful transition for my baby girl.Thank you so much.

So upset with the front desk staff. I called 9/1/23 to get an appt for my dogs rabies shots. We need them to renew our lease for base housing before October. I am an established customer and have spent hundreds of dollars at this clinic. When I called, she didn’t ask for my name or any information, she abruptly says “Oct. 16 is the soonest” I explained that wouldn’t work because I needed it for our lease renewal and she said “too bad that’s all I have” so I am forced to now find a new vet and take care elsewhere. She refused to work with me, was extremely rude on the phone and didn’t care at all that we’ve been going to this clinic for 2 years now. I moved my dogs to a new clinic who understood my situation and got me in next week. I really like this vet office but the front desk staff needs some additional training on customer service.
