I have been a lover of Gem/Gem Home and have purchased multiple pieces over the years included participating in piercing and bonded events; however, I purchased a ring 12/24 and have contacted the shop on three occasions to determine the status. For how expensive the piece was, I’m floored that I was the one who had to continue to follow up. After having called the last two days with no answer, I came into the store today. I was told today that since they didn’t have an update there was no need for communication. That’s the exact opposite of how I have come to expect a small business to act. As someone who loves shopping local, I am truly disappointed in this experience. Gem and Gem home have lost our business.

Every time I step into Gem I find something truly unique and beautiful, much of the jewelry is handcrafted and one of a kind. I have slowly (ok, maybe sometimes not so slowly ?) built my jewelry collection from Gem and love finding gifts for friends and family here too. Not to mention the home store just down the walkway is a knockout! The people who work here are so kind, and truly knowledgeable, I am a lifelong customer for sure!

I went here Saturday for a permanent bracelet after seeing a few other girls who had theirs done here. When I got home, I felt like I should’ve gotten the bracelet longer (which was my bad) and realized I should’ve had it placed on my left wrist. I coach volleyball, so being right handed I realized probably wasn’t the best choice for me…oops again! I messaged them on Instagram and called the store to see if there was a way to add length and then decided to switch wrists. They got back to me super quickly and Jen was so helpful! I 10/10 recommend this store and will be back even though I live an hour away! It’s worth the drive! When you are investing in a quality piece of jewelry, it’s good to know a business will take their time with you and make sure you are completely happy with the product! Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!

I first found their shop on Instagram because I was looking for permanent bracelets. I got one and I’m hooked. I went back for another, then a necklace, now a piercing with my beautiful new earrings. Everyone who works here is always so sweet and accommodating. They take their time and answer all your questions. I’ve even communicated with them on Instagram and they get back to me very quickly. You can tell they care about their clients and the products they sell. I always look forward to coming and shopping at Gem. I’ve even done an online purchase and it was fast and easy. My only regret is that I can’t buy one of everything whenever I go!

Very disappointed in this store. Product they sold they did stand behind. Repair made on an item, but the item still has a problem they would not refund for the poorly made product sold in their store. Also rather rude employee.

Way overprices. They abuse the fact that my husband was clueless on the value of a bracelet and charge twice the price of the market for a simple chain bracelet. You better off buying somewhere else, you will get way more for your money.Also just realized they charge for a 14k gold bracelet, the only pin you can find on the bracelet is on the attach and it says 10k gold not 14k gold, at this point it is false representation !! Outrageous

I was visiting Chicago for the weekend and found out about this shop prior to coming. It is beautiful! Exquisite pieces, quaint and the best customer service. I had permanent jewelry placed and it was the best experience: not too many places offer it. So when in Chicago (Oak Park) you have to visit, you won’t regret it!
