There were so many things wrong - wrong room, housekeeping waking us up at 8 am by knocking on our door asking if we wanted or room cleaned, no gated parking as promised, only 2 microwaves in the entire building. A bar manager telling us we were wrong when we brought a meal error to his attention. No access to the dining room (this is supposed to be a wonderful place to eat and even though 3 other tables had people at them. Yes, some of the issues were resolved to our satisfaction. However, this is a Hilton facility and we expected stellar service.
Food & drinks: Only expect a bar menu for evening meals - and then you have to eat at cocktail tables in the bar.

Food & drinks: Lots of restaurants & shopping nearby.
Noteworthy details: Parking - As of February 2024, the hotel charges $10 per day to park on their lot. They issue a parking pass, which states that they are not responsible for your vehicle while on their premises. Wait, what? I didn't see any security personnel patrolling the lots. I don't know what they do with the $10. Ridiculousness!!!

I loved my stay at the Hilton Oak Lawn. From the shuttle drivers like Victor, and James very personable, attentive, pointing out fun things to do or places to go eat nearby. To the people behind the desk like Tamya and Darrell, everyone in the restaurant and kitchen and bar! You are rockstars, thanks for making me feel like I was staying with family! Extremely helpful, and your willingness to do what you do with a positive attitude. Thank you for being authentically and beautiful you!
You have a top tier staff.
I will definitely be back.

We had a great stay. The rooms are large and clean. The beds are comfortable. The view is pretty nice (see photo). I did not hear sound from other rooms or the hall. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
The free hotel airport shuttle is convenient and expertly driven by James and Freddie. Shuttle scheduling seems to be first come first served, so talk to the driver in the lobby early on your departure day to schedule a time.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of several good restaurants, as well as Walgreens, which has many kinds of food, drinks, and supplies. We did not try the hotel restaurant.
The hotel is not within easy distance of any tourist destinations that I know of. We did not rent a car, so we relied mostly on Uber. Once we took Uber to the Midway CTA station and took a train from there to the Loop, and that worked well. Once we splurged and took Uber all the way to the Loop. There's a bus stop next to the hotel, but the buses aren't frequent in this area. We rode buses in Chicago and they were fine, so if you're on a budget, the bus near the hotel is probably okay.
Rooms: Comfortable, large, and quiet
Safety: The hotel and environs seem safe.
Walkability: Walkable to many restaurants and shops

Would go 4.5 but rounding up to 5 because Darrell at the front desk was kind and upgraded my room because my reservation was overfilled. Clean hotel. Good location to the nearby hospitals. Ample parking but unfortunate they charge for parking (waived because of my room issue). Did not use the pool or gym. Here for work. Breakfast buffet looked nothing more than a typical hotel breakfast and costs $20! Didn't get it. Also strange that there is no coffee for guests. Room and bathroom was clean.

No microwave in the room. Can not connect game consoles to TV because of internet bypass website(we got it to work anyways). Only 1 microwave for every 6 floors. Yes floors not rooms.. No hand soap in specific bathrooms but at least they have high ceilings. (They don’t have high ceilings). And NO FREE BREAKSFAST??!!!! $20 a plate????
Rooms: No microwave, can not connect game consoles to TV because of internet bypass.
