Horrible Customer Service. They take no accountability beyond admitting it is their "system's" fault. I waited 3 months for a product. Every week the estimated delivery date would update for the following week. How they did not know there was a glitch, I don't know. Don't bother using their online chat. NO ONE (HUMAN) READS IT. I finally got around to calling and was told there was no reason for my item to have not shipped and promised I would see a tracking number in 3 days. A week later, no tracking number. I called a second time. Turns out they realized the order was "stuck" and was never going to ship. They never called to let me know. With the second call, they said they were "working" on canceling the order. But was anyone going to tell me??? and why does it take a week to cancel the order. Or better yet, why not just fix the order and send it out! 250 items in stock! Customer Service rep talked down to me saying, "let me try to explain this to you in consumer speak." I didn't think it was much to ask for, but I would have liked to have the item shipped and expedited overnight. I got a flat no to that request. They are not willing to make it right. I need to wait for a refund, and then reorder and wait for normal shipping times. Let's see how long it takes to get my refund. Then I will decide if I am going to reorder the item.
One more thought ... Target, Nordstrom, and so many others, don't charge you for an item until it ships. West Elm takes your money upfront.
I have read many other reviews similar to this. Come on West Elm. Get it right.

We had a great experience in this store. I ordered a table for in store pick up. They were very helpful with the pick up process. When I saw that a floor model of the table was available at a discounted price they took me to the stock room to see it so I could decide if I wanted that one instead. I was very happy with their service and would shop at this location again without hesitation!

Wanted to buy 4 chairs that were in stock. One was a floor model, was told by sales person she would speak with her manager and get back to me. No one got back to me that day. I had to call the next day and was told I could only purchase two. Was informed the chairs were in stock in Lincoln Park store. I asked if they could deliver to Oakbrook(I would pick up in Oakbrook)and was told I would have to pay for shipping! I would absolutely not recommend this store. The customer service is awful!

Wanted to purchase an ottoman and they wanted to charge us 1/4 of the price for delivery. We asked if we could order the ottoman and pick it up from the store and they declined. Sadness!

I made an order of two chairs and they lied to me about delivery time. They didn't even have the decency to tell me why. But I know nobody from there will even reply to this E mail.

West Elm you neglected to tell me why my delivery would be late. That would have been the decent thing to do, but no. I agree with many other posters that you,r not a good place to do business with.

The worst West Elm location. Stuff is sure rude, I had online order picked up here. Stuff was damaged and with dirt on it.

The products at the store are good quality and I love the design there.This review is more so about this specific location. When I stopped in, I felt that the employees were a little too pushy. I just stopped in to browse and get some ideas and was immediately approached by someone who put a lot of pressure on me to look at samples and start designing.Of course, I was able to decline, and had that been the only instance in that trip where I felt that an employee was being overly enthusiastic, I would have given it a pass, but it felt as though I was approached by an employee every time I stood and looked at something for more than 5 seconds. It was enough that I left and decided to browse online instead.

The sales lady after following us all around and asking if we needed help? Finally when we did ask for help, she proceeded to say something wildly offensive to my mother, not apologize, and then double down on it. She was rude and soured the whole experience. And had the nerve to be pushy for a sale afterward. Any amount of training of sales professionals would tell you not to do that. Inconsiderate and pushy staff. Not worth it. There’s a pottery barn and a Tom price and a Walter e smith around the corner. Don’t waste your time on this place
