I cannot say enough good things about Cheryl and George in the Northbrook store and the corporate office of The Great Frame Up. I recently ordered a beautiful and unique frame there for a very large painting that was just so perfect for it. However, it then turned out the manufacturer of that frame had recently closed, and the frame was no longer available. The Great Frame Up corporate office, along with George and Cheryl, went to great lengths to reach out to all The Great Frame Ups nationally, make many calls, and track it down for me in Seattle and have it shipped to their store. They were caring, responsive, and just really kind about everything. The frame is on the way and then they will be able to custom frame the painting, have it delivered, and installed in my home. Thanks to their efforts I will be able to have exactly what I was hoping for!

Sheryl and George are my go to for the last 4 years in Northbrook, before that we worked with GFU in the city. I find them both to be professional, patient, and willing to offer advice that works out on the piece. They have both commissioned/handled more than 15 framings in the last 4 years - JJN

Cheryl and those at the Great Frame Up have saved my butt on multiple occasions when work called and needed a gift framed. They have always been incredibly accommodating and honest about what they can and can’t do, and that transparency is so hard to find these days. I definitely suggest bringing your business here, because they WILL take care of you and they are such a good people. Every interaction has been positive

If you have a special piece to frame and want help getting it right, this is the location of The Great Frame Up you want: ASK FOR CHERYL!!! She has been framing people's dreams for over 20 years, which means she knows what she's doing, is super kind and goes above and beyond. Here, it's all about CHERYL. Cheryl is IT!

I was so excited when I realized this place was still in existence and you were still able to frame on your own. When I initially went about 6 months ago (have framed 4 times since), I worked with Cheryl, who is wonderful. She was able to assist in matting choices and with actually framing. She was experienced and really cared about the artwork. The next time I went was also a great experience, again with Cheryl.Unfortunately the third time I went, I had a younger person who really wasn't able tp help with matting - so I used the one I had- or framing. She even noted that it must be an important piece since I had some documentation. I did say I wanted to frame it myself, but she must not have heard and when called for pick up, the picture was framed for me. While they didn't charge due to the mix up, which was appreciated, I was not happy. It was no longer thought of that someone may want to frame their own. The next time I went I got a younger guy: who was really not into it an unable to help with matting and told me to look at a few matts and see what I like, as well as frames. There was no expertise there. Also, he wanted me to cut down the artists lithograph (which had the studio stamp), and when I said "no", was shocked that I would not consider that. Who would cut down a signed, numbered and titled original piece? Anyway, I gave up doing it myself and let them frame it. Haven't seen it yet, but don't expect perfection. It is a shame because this was such a great place to be able to do it yourself, with the help from an expert. Now, there is really no one there that cares much. Might as well send it to an online store and get it in the mail for convenience.

I recently went to this location after going to the location in Niles where the owner was curt, cold and rude and where you could do none of the assembly of the frames yourself in the traditional way The Great Frame Up Stores were set up to do. I am an artist and need to have custom framing done in the most economical way in order to make a profit. I am willing to do all of the assembly of the frames myself in order to get the best value. The Northbrook location allows you to bring in used or "store bought frames" and they will assist you in providing whatever else you need like glass, mats, etc. and will charge you a shop fee of $4 per frame for you to assemble all of the components. This charge also includes the backing, hooks, wires, etc. They, of course, do any custom framing you may need as well. I worked with Paul and Margo and they were enormously helpful, accurate, accommodating and courteous. We framed about 10 pieces and the cost was nearly $1,000. It would been at least 3 times that at the location in Niles and would have have taken weeks for the work to be done. I will definitely come back to the location in Northbrook and highly recommend it.
