This is a nice and clean REI location with a great selection of products and in stock inventory.
Every time I'm here, I'm usually able to find what I need, and even if I don't buy anything, it's fun to just look around at all the stuff they sell.
The staff seems friendly and offers help while I'm browsing or want to try on any clothing. I've never had even a remotely negative interaction with anyone working here in the past 5 years shopping at this or any other REI stores.

REI in Northbrook is a fantastic store for outdoor enthusiasts. They offer a wide range of high-quality gear and apparel, and the staff is very knowledgeable.

It's sad how far this store has fallen. REI itself is great and I'm very happy with the brand. But the folks at this store just don't really seem to care about people and would rather talk to each other than help customers. There's just an air of a bunch of people who were working at this store because a court ordered them to. I'll order online and have it shipped to my house rather than go here.

This Northbrook location has very poor customer attention. We have been trying to purchase a bike two different weekends but can’t get anyone to help us. Poor employee resources is a reflection of bad management. With the holiday and summer just around the corner, you would think they would have staffing in all departments. It’s over staff in one department but zero staff in the bike department. Hopefully, REI address this issue.

Matt in the footwear area was phenomenal. He listened and cared about what I asked. He took the time to look up sneakers. I will definitely come back to this location. He is a great guy.

Harry in the bike shop was very friendly and helpful in making my fiancées bike fit comfortably. We had to make some slight adjustments to make a more comfortable seat work, but Harry was able to take the measurements and find a new seat post that got the job done. If you need something with two wheels, go talk to Harry.

REI Upper Management: You are taking big risks w/your apparrent/emerging anti-union policies. As a member, when we travel/camp across the US when we need to pick something up we first look for a local REI. For example when we were just down in winter park fl passing through we visited the store twice for purchases. I put you on warning, as a member if you continue this policy I will cancel my membership and shop at one of the many other retail options. As a social worker, past union member and son of a long time union cab driver mother you are violating important worker protection values!

REI! This place is like Costco for outdoors people! You always say you're going to go in and buy one thing and then you walk out a couple hundred dollars poorer at the end of the experience! The salesperson that helped me was very knowledgeable and pointed me in the right direction. If you are a member you can get a deep discount using your dividend points and also the REI return section is a great place where you can find great deals as well. Overall I give REI a five out of five stars for ambience, selection of products, knowledgeable staff, and reasonable prices. The membership program is great, and now they have their own line of bicycles! They support gear years after they've sold it to you. It's a smart way to shop if you plan to get a lifetime of use out of your equipment.

Very good REI location. You can find pretty much any outdoor equipment you can think of with a good variety of choices in terms of brands. I've talked to a few employees and they seem to know their stuff when it comes to the gear.
