Beware any city transplants coming from EBC and expecting a similar experience:
My wife and I moved to the suburbs from the city and got our hopes up for the new Lifetime in Northbrook. The monthly fee is relative to EBC so we were expecting a similar experience. The building is quite large, and I was surprised that despite how big the building is, how small the actual area to workout is. I prefer to workout alone, and the gym seems more setup for classes. I commonly went during rush hour and found all of the squat racks were taken up by a fitness class. The cardio equipment is so-so. The wipes are hard to find and commonly dried out, so doesn't seem like a lot of people use them.
The sauna is nice, but the overall locker room was subpar; it felt crowded and several times there was a wait to use the shower, and on top of that the soap/shampoo was constantly out which was frustrating.
After 3 weeks of going and trying my best to make it work, I had to terminate my membership. There are other gyms in the area that will deliver a far superior experience for that price range.

This is our home gym. Sure it’s not cheap but you get what you put into it. My wife, my son and I have been members for over 2 years. Only recently did our fees go up but again it’s worth being a member if you go enough and take advantage of any of their other amenities like their daycare, the indoor and outdoor pools.
We have heard there’s a waiting list and believe it as it does get crowded at times but not super crowded.
I have been to several other Lifetime properties in the Chicagoland area and this is in my top 5 locations.
The staff is great as well as the trainers that work there. You can tell business is good when you rarely see a trainer solo. Instead they are working with clients, training away. I do find it strange that the GM trains some people as he’s taking away from his other trainers.
The folks at the Cafe are wonderful and friendly as well.
Let’s not forget about the workers at the Daycare! Doreen, Wilma and their crew all work their tail off taking care of the babies, toddlers and kids. God bless em.
There is parking lot parking available but at times it does get full.

I have a membership at Lifetime Skokie, where I pay $200 a month, and was looking to switch to the Northbrook location. I made it clear that I was ready to join Northbrook and fully commit to the switch. Despite the fact that I make $800k a year, I was treated like garbage over the phone. The representative refused to allow a grace visit so I could at least see the club before joining, even though I was planning to sign up anyway. Instead of offering a simple transfer, they insisted I cancel my current membership altogether. This experience has made me decide to cancel my Lifetime membership entirely. I’ll be moving to Midtown instead. Lifetime doesn’t seem to value Loyal Customers

Nice location, good amenities
I just avoid the sauna, too many people go in full dressed, even with shoes, it doesn’t smell nice

Extremely unfriendly front of house. I walked in yesterday to inquire about a membership. The gentleman behind the desk was young man with a big bushy beard. He looked at me like I had three eyeballs. I repeated my request, “I’m here to inquire about a membership ““ he responded. It’s 279 a month but we’re on a waitlist. the tone of his response was like, are you kidding? Of course we’re on a waitlist. I did not know that. Did he ask me if I wanted to be added to the waitlist, nope he just looked at me as if I was nuts. So I said, thank you and left. Very poor interaction, they should train their people better.

Imagine…paying $279/m at this trashy glorified LA Fitness. But judging from the crowd, they just don’t know any better.

I joined the waitlist, activated at another location and called Northbrook as the email stated they would call me within the hour. When they didn’t call, I called them. She said well if they didn’t call me I’m still on a waitlist and there’s nothing she can do and there’s no call - so the emails incorrect. I began to ask a few questions about the club in general, not just Northbrook, but lifetime in general and she would not answer them because I’m not a member at her gym. I asked to speak with a manager as I felt the service was way below standard and she said she was the concierge supervisor. Terrible experience just with my first phone call. For $300 a month and up you think they’d be nice to you when you call.

Overpriced gym with limited amenities. Five stars for the kid care. Nice trainers. Club lacks proper amounts of equipment for training.

I'd like to inquire about the operating hours for the family locker room. Are these hours different from those for the men's or women's locker rooms? I've received conflicting information from other sources, with some indicating that the hours are the same across all facilities. Additionally, could you please provide information on how I can confirm the operating hours and schedule for the family locker room? Thank you

I truly enjoy coming here to exercise and get motivated even more to be healthy and fit. All staff is kind, friendly. Especially instructors for classes are excellent-experienced and confident, many classes in various levels are offered daily for all members but fill quickly. It has Indoor and huge outdoor swimming pools which will open soon for this summer. Also it is a family friendly place that there are children's activities and classes while parents work out. LIFE Cafe has beverages and helthy food.

This review is for the Lifespa. Finally got to use a service at LifeSpa at Lifetime. I wanted some life and volume back in my hair and booked an appointment with Irene. I'm so glad I went to her. We talked through want I was looking for with layers and face framing long bangs along with a few pictures as reference and she was able to deliver. Great customer service and was able to get in and out in an hour and the shampoo/condition service before the cut was so relaxing.

Old orchard has more amenities than Northbrook. Considering that they charge the same price as Oakbrook location which has way much space for spa, sauna,weightlifting area,COLD PLUNGE,boxing area is an absolute joke. Old orchard branch seems to have more amenities than this location. The prices should be lowered due to lack of amenities.
