Husband and I drove around New Lenox, Frankfort, And Mokena shopping at antique/resale shops. Stopped by The Ugly Ducking at 11:25am and it was closed even though the website said it was open. It looks like there a lot of cute items and I only wish it had been open.

Terrible experience with a inexperienced owner of a business ,I asked a question regarding a item that was $179.00. And the item in question was on face book ,was never answered ,After I discovered it was I was contacting a store .I rephrased my statement by saying I would pick it up the next day .The question thinking it was from a Facebook person was ,can I have your bottom line price .Never got any reply ..This so called business woman , went and sold the item .I called her on it and this professional said she “ had a assumption that I wanted a deal” well guess what I would have paid full price .it was a gift for my wife ..So be wear ...she assumes things that arnt true.

This is amazing a store like this stays in business. This person put a hutch up for sale .It was posted for $179.00 I inquired if the price could be lowered rock bottom .My wife saw the hutch earlier and wanted it so I was going to buy it .I gave the woman Kathleen my name thinking that she could perhaps keep me on track if I made a mistake being a husband that was trying to surprise his wife. So then I realized it was a consignment shops I said fine we will be down tomorrow which would be Wednesday to pick it up.I never got a reply from this Kathleen after I asked about the price . So I figured she would get back I noticed she read the message ,no reply .Then I read this morning Kathleen's hours ,she's closed I figured that's why no reply.Meanwhile my wife didn't know what I did was going to surprise her. Then jackie looked on the computer and it's sold pending ,she was disappointed .Then I told her I contacted Kathleen, and she never got back to me. So this so called business owner sold a item I would have bought at full price if she would have gave me some insight instead of being rude she sold it out from under us.New Lenox you deserve better much better ..it's too bad I can only give this Kathleen one star ,she deserves none .not one ! This woman is not a quality person to do business with at least that was my experience .. not good KATHLEEN,it's my opinion,it's my right as a consumer that was mishandled from the start by this so called owner not replying ..arrogant business people in the business world are never successful. This woman said she "assumed that you wanted a deal" this so called owner never responded back ,when your in business you don't assume ..I WOULD GO ELSE WHERE FAST

This is a great little gem in New Lenox, void of Hobby Lobby knock offs due to the fact that many items are sourced from local artisans. Its nice to see cleverly upcycled and repurposed items too. We visit periodically and my wife seldom leaves empty handed.. Some items are a bit pricey, the owner is friendly.

Kathleen is welcoming - her shop is adorable and the items she carries made by local artists including herself are so unique - any one of them would be a lovely addition to your home . I brought home a surprise gift for hubby today from her shop? can't wait to give it to him!

Looking for unique, hand crafted gifts? Check this place out! They feature creations by local artist and much more! They have soy candles that smell AMAZING! There are many signs that are funny, hopeful, and/or truthful! The repurposed furniture pieces are BEAUTIFUL! Check this place out!

I recently purchased a lovely, vintage cabinet from Ugly Duckling. Kathleen, the owner of the cute shop, was very friendly and helpful. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and made sure I was completely satisfied and happy with my purchase. I will definitely be stopping in to check out the new treasures! If you like vintage up cycled pieces, hand painted signs, handmade woolens or are looking for paint to refinish a piece of your own, check out the shop! It’s a fun place! Happy treasure hunting!

Cute little place. It's a bit pricey but everything in here is handmade from salvaged stuff that is turned into useful stuff. Vintage.. Candles.. Lots of wooden signs.

This place has lots of beautiful furniture and home decorations to choose from, but my favorite things to buy from there are the Flannel Candle Co. items, because the ingredients are safe and natural. I wish this place would be open more frequently, because that’s how much I enjoy coming to this place.
