This is a great area for tourists, usually members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, and the Community of Christ, to come and visit and learn about church history. There are many free activities available all over the historic district but also the Community of Christ offers a lovely tour of several sites, the places where Joseph Smith lived in Nauvoo, for only five dollars. Highly recommend this tour.

Love this place so much. So much historical info and restorations that have painstakingly and accurately done. Many many volunteers who are so knowledgeable willing to lead you through the sites. Even if you are not of the lds faith it is very interesting. My in-laws who are not lds still enjoyed it. If you are lds (and Maybe if you aren't) you will find it a faith promoting experience. And best of all its completely free!

Great tours and explanations of what life was like in the 1830s. The faith the people had was incredible. Big bonus, everything was free. Definitely need at least a couple days to see everything. State park on opposite side of the road is beautiful and has camping

A good historical site where everyone can learn some history, some of it church based. The site was completely free and all the staff were volunteers.

The missionaries here are truly some of the best the world has to offer! I originally was not to excited to come to Nauvoo but afterwards, I am so happy that I went! It is so incredible to learn about all of the history of Nauvoo and everything that the pioneers had to go through! It is a super neat experience and there is nothing else like it out there! It was so much fun and was so spiritual! It is such a great experience and I’d recommend everyone to come here if they’re interested!

The shows are my favorite part of the Nauvoo experience! The musical "The Promise " was beautiful! The actors were talented and it was very enjoyable. Also, the Sunday evening devotional was amazing! Such beautiful music! Both are definitely a must-see in Nauvoo!

We loved the historical facts and demonstrations, but we especially loved the spirit that was felt as the stories of the Saints convictions and experiences were shared.
