We decided to transfer our babies to Gilmer Animal Hospital & we were extremely pleased! Dr Thomas took his time with nervous Dane & listened to our concerns & provided outstanding treatment! My Dane has never been so relaxed for a visit! Truly pleased with the care we’ve received! Thank you Dr Thomas!

DO NOT COME HERE!!!! I am astonished with how little they care. I had my 4 year old Pitbull throwing up & pooping blood and Dr. Braer diagnosed him that day with Bilious Syndrome. $300 later I had to take him back 5 days later and spend another $400 on tests. The first visit he sent me home with no medicine or antibiotics. Then when I returned 5 days later he ASKED ME if i WANT him to give me antibiotics. WHAT VET ASKS THE CUSTOMER IF THEY WANT SOME ANTIBIOTICS.. I WANT YOU TO GIVE ME WHAT MY DOG NEEDS TO FEEL BETTER AS YOU ARE THE ONE WITH THE DEGREE APPARENTLY. I got my results emailed to me for his blood results on 1/24 and have STILL NOT HEARD/SPOKEN TO THE VET AND IT IS THE 2/2. I have left 4 messages with Lauren and Abby and they just tell me they will leave a detailed message. I thought when you pay for a service usually they provide for you. NOT HERE THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I have had to do the receptions job and follow up 4 times. They have LOST me as a customer. I am fuming with how little Dr. Braer does. He also made a comment to me about how women are air heads to my FACE. FIND ANOTHER VET !!!!!

Gilmer Road Animal Hospital has the most amazing and compassionate team. They truly care about animals and making sure that they help not only animals, but their humans too. I had given up hope that my dog, 15 months old, would get the treatment and help he needed to survive, and then a friend recommended them to me. I called thinking I would be turned away, but instead I was told that they could help him. This was an absolute relief. Lorryn, who took my call, was the sweetest and most caring person I could have asked for. Dr. Brar took care of my dog and saved his young life. I’m sure there were so many more people involved too that took care of him also, that I want to say thank you too as well!! The entire office was incredible!! Not enough great things I can say! They truly are compassionate and caring people!! I have found my vet for life! Thank you so much! I am so appreciative of all you did for me and for Gizmo.

gilmer says I owe them money when I gave the lady my money at the desk, then gilmer says my cat had kidney disease. I had another vet in island lake check her blood work ( which for some reason it was like pulling teeth to even get it from gilmer) the new vet told me she was perfectly fine and went through the bloodwork and told me what it would show if she did have kidney disease. She was a perfectly healthy cat and had nothing wrong. Conclusion I wouldn’t trust this place at all with diagnosis's, I thought my cat wasn’t going to live long but thankfully I switched vets.

We just recently had to bring our Marley into the vet. She woke up and she couldn’t move. The only thing she can do is move her head around. She was very stiff and I could tell that she was not right. I I called her vet and they told me that they wouldn’t be able to see her for hours. Now obviously that wasn’t good enough because she was not in good shape. I called about six vets and nobody seemed very willing to help. I was just about to give up when I saw the Gilmer road animal hospital phone number so I can give one last try. Not only were they concerned but they also made time for Marley immediately. I brought her there and left her there for the day. And by that evening, she was back to our Marley. I cannot express how excited we are that our Marley can live to bark another day.and we have found her forever vet now. If we could give 10 stars we would. Such a great place. Thank you so much for what you have done for our family. By the way, she was dehydrated and had pancreatitis, which, if not treated pretty quickly cause to her passing. We couldn’t have that. And neither could GILMER ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!!!! They really do care

Gilmer Road Animal Hospital has provided my animals with the best care. Our regular vet was unable to get my sick cat in for several weeks but I called Gilmer Road Animal Hospital and they got us in on the same day! When my cat wasn’t getting better they were able to quickly get us in again. Dr. Kyle Thomas was our vet and he was excellent. He was patient, compassionate, and made sure to provide the best care to both myself and my animal. We loved this vet so much we are transferring our regular veterinary care to them for all of our animals!

I set an appointment with Dr Brer last week. I suspected that the cat I brought in for a urinalysis had blood in his urine. Dr sent me home to bring the other 2 cats for urinalysis tests. I set in waiting room with my 2 cats waiting on help. Finally asked Loren and she came back saying all vet tests in surgery for another 20 minutes. Waited another hour and a half. No one assisted me. I asked for the first cat and went home not knowing which cat had an issue. That evening I ordered Break it Up from chewy. Since it's all natural I gave all 3 Cats the supplement. It's been over a week and no one from the hospital has checked on my cats. I am extremely disappointed and I will not go back.Jewell Gold

The vets here are all amazing. Weve have had especially good experiences with Dr.Thomas and Dr. collum, both have been willing to speak with us after hours, calling afterwards to check on our pets and making sure everything is going well. They are both kind, caring individuals. Anytime ive needed an appointment, theyve been able to see us within a day or 2. And the half price vaccines on Thursday and Friday can't be beat!

Don’t go here!! Dr Thomas is the only good doctor. They give a lot of misinformation and diagnose differently without consulting each other. One says allergies, the other says auto immune disease, which are on different spectrums in health and cost. Very confusing. I’m getting another opinion at another facility asap. I’ve only gone here a few months but will be changing vets. I tried to resolve the problem today but Lauren at the front desk was extremely rude and did not help me at all to make situation better or even make me an appointment. Instead she put me on hold for 10 minutes and then wanted to put me on hold again for another 10 minutes because customers were in line. I suppose that I don’t fall in the category of a customer because she said others would come before me. At no point did Lauren listen to me, instead she acted like a jerk with authority. Lauren should be retrained in manners and listening to to the client that pays 1000s to come here. My experience here hasn’t been great but this was final straw with this business. I’m going elsewhere for my dogs health. I will be researching to find a new veterinarian that’s at a nicer, cleaner, more reputable business with nicer staff.

I implore you to please read this before visiting this practice, specifically, Dr. Brar.Buffalo Grove Animal Hospital kept all our pets safe and never had to treat any of them for anxiety except for one as she got older and was placed on an antidepressant. Regrettably, we selected a dog from a puppy mill who has terrible anxiety - beyond belief. To the point he shakes as if he is having a seizure. He's lived like this for many years until Buffalo Grove Animal Hospital helped cure him by prescribing the right medications, and listened to us when we learned that one prescription wasn't working and another one was a bit better. We were able to reduce his dose of anxiety medication down substantially, and it changed the way our dog felt physically - no longer would he shake uncontrollably, or while in the care of overnight stays, pace back and forth rubbing his nose against the wall until it bled. He was able to live a normal life, and we were as a family no longer worrying. We made a poor decision to try and transfer practices to Gilmer Road Animal Hospital as it was closer to our new home after two years of living here. It wasn't until about a year in that we were booked to see Dr. Brar, who never met our pet before, told us he was more concerned about his license than prescribing a medication that kept our dog safe and healthy for the last four years. This was after having been told by another doctor who was wonderful to work with when originally first seeing our pet that there was no concern, he understood and would make it easy on us - that they even had an online pharmacy that would send the medication direct to our door! With four kids and an ailing father, it was music to a pet mom's ears. One less thing I'd have to do throughout the day while working full time. The practice assured me that what he was being prescribed was appropriate, especially after struggling to get his anxiety under control for years - imagine having a dog that when someone sneezes, he shoots into another room! Touching his skin would have him tighten up, and at times, with our children being little, we were concerned. To the point we hired a dog psychologist as he refused to climb stairs as he whined and whimpered at the bottom. It wasn't until my husband, who carried this 50lb dog up the stairs every night, fell on top of him in the dark during the middle of the night that I said enough was enough. I didn't need a broken pet and husband! We spoke with our former veterinarian, tried different things, and then they witnessed our pet struggle during his overnight stay when we moved to Hawthorn Woods. It was a sad sight to see, and they truly understood. I shared this all with Dr. Brar - and not an ounce of compassion. This evening, I received a call from Gilmer Road Animal Hospital informing me that Dr. Brar, a vet we were randomly booked with after having just been in for his annual exam a month prior, refused to refill his prescription. I was floored - this is a medication that many pets take when looking at the statistics! To make it even worse, other dogs are on much stronger medications compared to this - which raises the red flag, would your pet be diagnosed and treated accordingly in Dr. Brar's care or are they only in it for the money? Not to mention, it was such a brief encounter as my dog was muzzled on the table, that he hardly examined him, left the room, and I had to find him to give him to ask for an allergy shot he gets every six weeks. I explained this is what he gets, not a spray for his inflamed paw he had started chewing, which tells us right away allergies are returning. Two appointments later, one for his annual physical and one again, we were forced to see Dr. Brar for his anxiety, we were charged upwards of $900 in total. Lesson learned!
