The more I frequent this place over the years, the more I like it. Buy your skates there, get them sharpened there. They'll do it right.

If you’re a hockey newbie or event pro, this is the place to go!I signed up to take adult beginner hockey lessons with my partner. Liam helped us for almost two hours helping us get everything you could possible need to play the game while also actively helping us look for the most affordable options so we weren’t breaking the bank. He also helped us understand what the purpose and how to put the gear all on.I’m so glad he was there to be incredibly helpful and now I feel fully prepared to take my first ever hockey class!

Great experience at Gunzos! I haven’t played since high school and needed some new gear. The manager Tim took his time properly fitting my new skates and helmet. Ready to get back into it!

These guys are the only hockey experts I trust. I recently purchased new CCM jetspeed skates. I had an issue with the fit and they fixed it right on the sport. They knew exactly what the problem was. Will continue to only make equipment purchases from Gunzo's

Absolutely the worst store possible with complete unprofessional staff (Dempster location). We bought my daughter's figure skates here in late winter and had them sharpened on purchase. She has been taking figure skating lessons and since using these skates has been falling multiple times. The director of skating inspected her skates and noticed they were damaged. The end of the blades were cut off and rounded (like a hockey skate) instead of being straight and at a 90 degree angle. She and another skate sharpening professional stated that the skates were damaged from Gunzo's (they were only sharpened once on purchase). My husband went to Gunzo's with my children and asked to speak with a manager regarding the damaged skates. The manager then proceeded to state that nothing was wrong with the skates, that skates will become rounded after some time and that their sharpening tools are equipped for hockey skates and not for figure skates. My husband was calm throughout the entire interaction, the manager started screaming at him telling him that he either leaves or the police will be called. He refused to give his name and was very verbally aggressive towards my husband, in front of my children. The manager then offered he could "repair" them however 1) if there was nothing wrong with the skates then why offer to “repair” them 2) how can you repair skates with machine equipment that is clearly not made for figure skates and 3) when the skates were specifically inspected by a professional sharpener and told they cannot be repaired but need to be replaced. The manager then insisted that they are a hockey store and not a figure skating store. Why then do you sell figure skates if you do not have the knowledge on such equipment and do not possess the proper utensils to take care of maintenance for such skates? The absolute lack of professionalism and despicable behavior from the manager who refused to be named and screamed at my husband (again in front of small children) is uncalled for. The disregard for their customers is reprehensible and I do not recommend them at all.

I needed a new helmet - salesman helped me and got the best-fitting helmet I've ever had. Highly knowledgeable and friendly salesman was right on with what I was looking for price-wise too. So glad I went to Gunzo's.

Was in a jam and needed skates sharpened due to a poor sharpening job the day before. The young lady opened up a few minutes early so I could get my son's skates sharpened in time for his game

Very good selection. Website offers some hints of hockey item selection. Holiday season tends to be busier but Spring and Summer can be great times for deals and shopping around. Area has some parking -- usually easy access in decent weather.

I purchased Bauer 3S-Pro skates at another hockey shop (Pure Hockey - Nice people). Rather expensive ($700) skates, and one of the eyelets failed and started shredding laces. I took it back to original shop to fix it, but they installed an eyelet that pinched the lace. Original shop told me to go try a boot shop to fix the skate, which didn't make me happy.I hadn't heard of Gunzo's until my hockey teammate suggested it, but it was well worth the 40 minute trek from Lindenhurst, IL. I took the skate into Gunzo's and the gentleman behind the counter replaced the eyelet well within 5 minutes and only charged me $3 for the repair (knowing I didn't purchase the skates from that shop). The repair is great! The guy was super nice. While there, I also noticed that the shop allows you to try hockey sticks prior to purchase, which is also amazing. I'll definitely be back. - Great Service!

I've been going to Gunzos for years but I won't be any longer. They used to do a great job sharpening skates but now it's a terrible experience. The last three times the edges have been worse than before they sharpened them. Yesterday I had my skates sharpened and went to skate this morning. The edges were very dull, almost rounded. I had to have them resharpened at the rink. I hate seeing a locally owned company go down hill like this but the kids they hire just don't care.

I went in for a couple of items for my son. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. The prices are competitive. Great selection of everything hockey. Nicole and Conor helped us with the sizing and they know their stuff.
