This is a little oasis of nature in the city. Tons of birds calling every time I'm here. The ruins are very picturesque set in the trees and the graffiti adds visual interest as well. The trails are varied and we'll maintained, I love coming here for a short run or walk.

Very cool place full of history and facts. Definitely worth a stop to stretch your legs. Found it by accident recommended by a gas station attendant. I should have taken photos but left my phone in the car. It's a series of trails on a small island on the Mississippi very close to arsenal island. Great view of that island from Sylvan Island

It's a wonderful place to walk around. They have maintained biking trails and walking trails. There is a ton of history there which is at the visitors center right when you cross the bridge onto the island. No Camping is permitted which is a shame and why it got 4 stars instead of 5.Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly!Picnic area: I do remember seeing a grill but there are picnic tables near the restrooms.

Trails to walk. Great fishing spots. Bike path. Also a good spot for Pokemon GO.EDIT 3 years later: I've grown out of Pokemon Go. I don't recommend anyone plays Pokemon doing anything. Just enjoy what's right in front of you.

I don't go after dark and don't recommend it, but during the daylight hours you can find many families hiking the beautiful trail and fishers enjoying the shore. Okay for trail running, not a lot of elevation and there are some metal bars that may surprise you and could trip someone on the trails. During the day, a local treasure!

Great place to ride or walk the dogs. Island is busy on the weekends but rarely meet someone on a trail. Very safe. Winter is beautiful on the island

Nice island not too far (1 mile) from the convention center in downtown to go for a walk or a jog. Trails are either dirt or crush limestone. Offer a nice view of the river and Rock Island Arsenal

It’s great place to hang. But not fish near the edges of the water. Your not gonna get a bite on your fishing pole. Be careful and ask permission to steps into this island. It’s haunted.

We've only been here twice but we're in love with this island! Making plans to explore more next spring when everything warms back up but I also want to go play in the snow there! It's beautiful and I highly recommend checking it out!

A great venue for mountain biking right on the Mississippi River. A small, easily managable tangle of trails with a solid ring trail that will always bring you back around to the bridge.
