When Kohls opened many years ago in McHenry, ILthey were a nice clean store with helpful employees that were both courteous and knowledgeable. This past year 2022 everything about Kohls had changed and the employees are rude, black, transgender, and overall useless. No one can answer a question, a man/woman with a ton of make up is in the Sephora Dept but had no knowledge of cosmetics and his/her appearance is so upsetting, I decided to shop at Ulta for cosmetics. The dress code is sloppy, with racial tendencies, tee shirts with a 'black fist' printed on it and the merchandise has also changed. The quality was never great but affordable with coupons. Now the prices have increased, the quality worsens, and the selection is awful. The store has wide open spaces with underwear, where handbags used to be, and it is completely void of anything anyone would purchase. The jewelry dept is gone, the friendly employees of the past has all left complaining about the new policies of diversity and shoving that down their throats favoring skin color over experience, merit, and professinalism. Kohls has been accused of going 'woke' so the stores do not appeal to suburbanites and it's fate is only a matter of time.

Young man in shoe department was really nice,& super helpful. The shoe size I was looking for was not at the McHenry location, he tried the Algonquin & Crystal Lake store, which neither had my size. I went to the front desk at the McHenry location, only because when I tried to order online, they said that the sku number couldn't be found, (even tho I took a picture of the exact number). Anyways, the young girl, long brown hair,... was completely rude when I asked her to help me. I told her that the young man in the shoe department looked at other locations for me,& when I told her that I called the kohls number,& they couldn't find the sku number,. She was totally rude,& acted like I was TOTALLY inconveniencing her cuz she had to help me at the kiosk

This Kohl's is never an enjoyable place to shop. I haven't had a good experience in this store in many years. Many of the employees are rude and have no customer service skills. The fashion items are looking very outdated as well. Zero desire to shop here anymore and when I do shop here the employees are not friendly. The prices are high and only become reasonable if you have a discount coupon using a Kohl's Card. Not even great prices then. Check out TJMaxx in McHenry or Burlington Coat Factory in Crystal Lake for a better shopping experience.

I visited this store yesterday for the first time since the pandemic began. Eleven months. I recently ordered items online. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I had to mail returns back at my expense or actually go into the store. You have curbside Pickup but not curbside returns? Odd. The doors by the return counter are locked, so you have to go in the other set and walk through the store. That's just odd. I was handed back the packaging to throw away myself. Again, odd. I touched it, she touched it and then gave it back? What safety protocol is that? I also had an Amazon return so I brought it since I had to go to Kohls anyway. The Amazon return counter is in the back of the store. Why? So you have to walk through the store again. While back there, I noticed an employee with her mask pulled down within arms length and talking to a teenage employee. We are still in the midst of a global pandemic. She didn't pull it back up until she noticed me staring at her. When I checked out, I mentioned it to the cashier, who was appropriately apologetic. When I got into my car, I called my sister who is also a local retail manger and asked if she pulled off her mask if she thought customers weren't looking. She responded with an "ABSOLUTELY NOT". I called corporate to log a complaint, and left a message. I just received a call back from Latoya from Corporate. She thanked me for my 'feedback' and would pass the message to the Store manager and remind them of the safety of wearing a mask. What a bunch of HooHa. This was not feedback, this was a customer complaint. I have been a loyal customer of Kohl's for over 30 years. The total disregard for not only customer safety but also fellow employees is horrifying. The entire experience is totally unacceptable on all levels. Let's not forget we are still in the midst of a global pandemic. Many establishments have gone out of business. Those that are lucky enough to still be open, should be strictly following all Covid regulations. It is obvious this isn't happening in this store and certainly not being taken very seriously by Corporate. I will take my business elsewhere.

Usually find what I need here. Store is clean and orderly. Clerks always kind and helpful. But, recently I had a manager accuse me of bringing a non Kohl's item to checkout! Item was Kohls and mismarked! When manager was gently corrected by clerk, the manager snapped at the clerk and told me it was my fault-very unprofessional and rude. With me was my mother-a 40 year Marshall Field's employee, my sister-a longtime local teacher, niece and nephew. We all were appalled at this scene. Sooo, I am telling this story, ordering lots of Kohl's merchandise online and traveling to other Kohl's stores these days.

Omni, who was working at the jewelry counter, is fantastic. Extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and super personable. Hard to find team members that add that much value to a shopping experience. A true gem!
