The store is conveniently located around the corner from my house. However, they charge over $4 for a gallon of milk, and the store often seems short-handed. I even applied there with multiple college degrees, but I never received a call back. I hold no hard feelings, but I noticed they hired a couple of teenagers or college students, which is great since everyone needs work. However, not even a month later, none of the new hires are there anymore. If they hired adults, they might be more likely to stay at the job than teenagers.
The store has items, but not as many options as other Dollar Generals, and I miss true dollar stores. While I understand not everything is going to be a dollar, they have very few items for $1, and most items are extremely overpriced. I've noticed that in the winter, the store has fewer options, but as soon as summer hits, there's a lot more variety. It's like tourists get the good stuff, but locals get the leftovers. In reality, we keep the store open during the winter by buying locally.
If they are charging us so much, the store should be in better condition with better employees. The cost of the items doesn't match the quality. I bought a few Dollar General-manufactured items, and all of them broke within a few days. Additionally, there is only one register and one self-pay register, but the self-pay register never works. The single checkout line is often unattended, slow, long line or both.
If they hired more staff or the right staff and didn't overcharge locals who buy from them year-round, the store would be much better.
I do have to say the woman manager who is there often (2024), she is nice and helpful. So this is nothing against her as she always does a great job assisting me in whatever I need. I’m sure they say they need about 4 more of her and the store would probably be great. But that’s always how it goes ?

Just ran in for one item. Stood there for about 5 mins . No one around to ring me out. Walked through the entire store finally found two woman in back of store , must have been training. Poor customer service. If your going to leave the register put a bell there or something. Or better yet put in a check out yourself register Then you can stand in the back of the store all day.

So tired of having to go to other stores to shop because dollar general doesn't ever have what I need and so tired of everytime I purchase something from dollar general I can't feed my family because I waste food not knowing that what I purchased two days before hand is expired plus the prices have gotten absolutely ridiculous.

AVOID SHOPPING HERE!I am very mindful of how I treat people who work at grocery and convenience stores because I know they have a difficult job. They're putting their health and safety at risk as much as other first responders but without the recognition or appreciation other high profile professions get. Many of them are our kids, our older relatives who do this to get out of the house a couple of days a week. I have great respect for them. That being said, this store is AWFUL! I no longer give them my money. The majority of the staff is rude and poorly trained. The store is often dirty, the produce is dirty and old, there are always piles of boxes and packing materials in the aisles but no one shelving merch. I have had to hunt down a cashier on several occasions because two of them would be standing in an aisle gossiping with each other and no one is at the register. And forget finding a manager, she's never anywhere to be found. She's either "not in" or "in the back" paying no attention to the store conditions, the customers, or the staff. For a short period of time there was male manager (or assistant manager) that seemed to be cleaning the place up but he's long gone. the new woman managing (or assistant managing) appears to be operating a kind of mean girls club that seems to get satisfaction from trash talking other customers and staff they don't like. I agree with Amanda Rose H, years ago the staff were everyday helpful, friendly, polite people. Now they're aggressive, rude, and confrontational. The environment in this store is so toxic that, even though this store is around the block from my home, I will go out of my way to stop anywhere but here for my milk and bread. Without going into detail I've told my adult sons especially to stay away from there. Just not a good place for them to be!
