I took my truck to Adams auto repair and they had my truck for two weeks and didn’t do anything to my truck but charged me $1250 allegedly repairs they supposedly did. When he didn’t do absolutely nothing. He is a scam. Do not take your vehicles to this auto repair shop….They are not doing anything but scamming people out there money.

I have read other reviews and it seems this auto shop continues to screw people out of their money doing absolutely nothin and charging people $950 and all their doing is unhooking the battery and the car resets itself. They take it over to emissions and pass your car like they did repairs and they did absolutely nothin. I picked my car up on Saturday 4/20/2024 after having my car 2 days with no follow up. I called all day Friday 4/19/2024 no answer same thing Saturday. I had to drive there to find out what was goin on with my vehicle. Please read reviews before using businesses like ADAMS AUTO REPAIR they ripping people off made me very angry that they get away with this I'm retired and on a fixed income. The owner talks a lot of s--t saying nothin do not use this place they not right.

I have filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Fraud…Last week I stop at Adams Auto Repair shop to inquire about getting repairs on my truck. The mechanic told me to bring the vehicle in on Monday at 8:00a.m. so that he can put it on the diagnostic machine to see what the problem was. My wife and I brought the truck in Wednesday morning, January 24, 2024 @ 7:49a.m. No one got there until 8:04. They finally let me in. We spoke about what was going on with the truck. The guy told me that he would call me back in approximately 2 hours. Once he called he informed me that my car needed repairs that I am sure were not the issue. I called a mechanic for a second opinion and he confirmed that that wasn't the problem and the cost and time Adams repair shop quoted was totally unreasonable. I spoke back to the repair shop and informed them I would not be using their shop. The mechanic kept insisting that I allow him to make it so my car passes the vehicle emissions test. I stated that I wanted the problem solved not just so it will pass the test but so that my car would be repaired but he kept reiterated that emission point as if that's all that mattered. He then told me that he could “fix” the problem and I wouldn’t have the problem any longer. I did not understand what he meant by that so I then told the guy that I would be there to pick up my vehicle. He stated that I would have to pay him $120 and to pick the car up by 5:00p.m My wife left work early to take me there. We arrived at 4:40p.m and the repair shop was closed. I phoned several time and no one answered. I am very concerned that they kept my car for unscrupulous reasons. They knew I would be there and left anyway. Now I have to miss work the next day; my wife has to be late to work again to take me there. This is horrible. I have attached the many complaints this shop has had and no one has done anything about the way they treat their customers. Please help!Alfred Brooks

Would give them 0 stars if that was an option. Took my equinox to they could pass emissions. Told me it had electrical problem after 1 hr of looking at it. Told me it would be 1250 and he would fix it and pass emissions. Only to call me back the same day and say now it needed catalytic converters and I was gonna need to pay an additional 1750. Bringing my total to 3000. When he originally said 1250 would solve my issue. Definitely would not recommend.

I had a terrible experience at this auto repair shop. After taking my car in for a small emission leak and having it tested, I was charged for what I believe was unnecessary work that was performed on my vehicle, which included the removal of the gas tank and ended up costing more than the repair for the emission leak would have. When I questioned the need for this unnecessary work, the person behind the counter became defensive and short-tempered and claimed that the removal of the gas tank was part of the diagnosis. However, the leak could easily be seen without the removal of the gas tank, making this work completely unnecessary. Despite paying for this unneeded work, I refused to continue with the so-called repair at this shop. The staff was unprofessional and unhelpful, and I felt like they didn't care about my concerns or the well-being of my vehicle. The price for the service was also significantly higher than I expected and not worth the poor quality of work. I would not recommend this auto repair shop to anyone and will never be returning.Service: Auto engine diagnostic
