First time coming on a Friday. We came to play in the pool. I have 3 special needs boys. I gave them showers and got them dressed afterwards. We normally go to the other YMCA location
A guy came in the room (we go in the family room) and said hello. I said hello back. He was standing by the cleaning stuff. So I thought he was a cleaner.
He said we were here past the time that they closed. I told him I wasn't aware. The other locations dont close till 10pm. So I was taken back by that. We were heading to the elevators but the guy kept repeating himself and following us. I told him to stop. That at this point its harassment. He wouldn't stop I told him I'm going as fast as possible. That they are special needs. He said that I scared him that he's security. He didn't have a security outfit on. After he kept following me and harassing me and my kids. I told him I could have his job for this. He continued so I took his picture. I'll be talking to someone about this.

This was my day 1 here and I wanted to swim at the lap swimming lane! Sat there waited for a line to open up and I waited 1.5 hours and no line opened! There was old ladies in the water not swimming just sitting there talking and taking up all four lanes while they could have sat at the open pool and did that!
I would pay a little extra and find a different swimming pool that has pool policy against none swimmers allowed in lap lane.

I had the most mortifying experience here yesterday and am considering cancelling and paying more to go to peak. I would like to start by saying I have been a Y member for decades and being new to the Rockford area I was excited to get back into my regular swing.I have been coming to this location EVERYDAY for a month (this is important), yesterday I came in I scanned my membership card and was stopped at the desk. This was because I didn’t have a photo attached to my membership (did not look well when I initially signed up and the lovely lady at the river front location told me I could take a photo at a later date ?).The lady at the desk was abrasive and asked me if I had my ID with me, I started to say I did not have it on me but could grab it after my workout if she needed to verify because I was aware I hadn’t taken a picture yet, but before I could get my sentence out she continued to say that my ID needed to be scanned again because they cross compare with the sex offender registry for members 18+ (she did this in front of several other guests). While I absolutely agree with this practice as a manager this feels like one of those “things we don’t say to guests” and especially things we don’t loudly say to people in front of other people. I calmly explained that my ID was scanned and that I just declined the photo (not realizing it would be this horrifying down the line). She took a photo of me and let me go on with my workout, that I couldn’t even complete after that interaction. She could’ve simply said “we don’t have your photo and need to verify your ID before taking one, this is a guest safety requirement”I returned today with my ID in tow to make sure everything was ok but this truly soured my experience with the Y.. I hope to overcome but this definitely triggered my social anxiety

This place advertised a meet and greet with santa clause and cookies for the kids and it specifically says walk ins welcome. We arrived 5 minutes early to beat the rush. It was hardly crowded. We had 6 children with us and we explained how we drove over 40 minutes for it. We stood in a short line directed by the front desk. The next set of people checking in guests were rude as can be then turned us away. Didn’t apologize, didn’t have a good reason. But this is false advertisement. My children and I are highly disappointed and will never be visiting here again. Ill tell my friends and family about this horrible experience.

Shout out to Alex and Brenda. Alex gave me a tour of the Loves Park YMCA, while he was helping out there. Such a pleasant young man. Brenda signed me up!I'm looking forward to getting back on track with my health plan!

As of 2023, the weight room is way too crowded. If you use the swimming, pool or other facilities, it might be worth it. However, if your primary interest is in the weight room, I have a membership to planet fitness where the equipment is updated and there’s not nearly the crowd.

Very rude personnel, not professional. Swimming staff never responds to emails.

I would leave ZERO stars if possible. My party host, Keniya, was so sweet and I felt horrible for the lack of communication which contributed to her inability to provide the best possible host expectation. My party was to start at 2 pm. My bounce house was not set up until well after 2:15 and that was AFTER I had to go ask when it would be ready. They then set up a toddler bounce house for my 7 year old and her friends. Tia, the party coordinator/manager was no where to be found so Keniya was able to have them put up a more fitting house, but it was not ready until 3:15 and my party was to be over at 4 pm. I spent most of my time in the room, which I could have rented for much less money and I was not able to interact with any of my guests due to the majority of my time being spent hunting down and resolving issues that should not have been issues. To top it off, party favors were not provided. Tia was no where to be found and when she was around, she was sitting on the counter at the front desk, swinging her feet, chatting. She was not of much help and felt to have little concern for my issues. Having a party host should have lessened the stress and made my party operate more smoothly and the exact opposite happened. As stated, my host was awesome and I feel terrible that she has to take the brunt of all of the frustration that comes from her bosses unorganization. I would NEVER recommend wasting not even $1 on a party, let alone $300.

I need to update my review because there's a particular lifeguard or 2 who have been generous in allowing us into the pool at times where they could have turned us away (not capacity wise) but as long as there were enough lifeguards, has allowed us to stay in the pool/come into the pool. The kindness of a few strangers can definitely change the mood of the day and the safety of my child. We're teaching him for safety at this point, not for fun. As spring warms up, I imagine that my son will enjoy the outdoor playground immensely. He hasn't been interested in the indoor play area after the first few times. I think it's just too small. We have workout equipment at home. So basically, all we use is the pool to teach. I notice the locker rooms getting cleaned quite frequently. And there is usually a family changing room open when we come in (might have to wait 2-3 minutes for one to open at some point. The Machine that rings out the extra water in your swimsuit comes in handy and can save your bag or car some expenses from water damage.

Absolute nonsense today at your easter event. I left with crying kids because there was zero organization. My child got hurt in your bounce house. Were there even staff in the gym? I am thoroughly disappointed. I guess I assumed that somewhere as large as the YMCA would be able to run an event for children. All of the kids near the end of the line got nothing and so many children were upset. Sure, it's nice that the event was made in the first place, but it's not ok that it was not a safe environment.

This location has had facility issues in the past but those appear to be mostly fix. The major issue is the weight room has started to get a seat fillers (people who take extremely long rests on the equipment and refuse to alternate for those waiting) and unfortunately with the limited equipment this is a major problem. It is not a crowing issue but a entitlement issue.

Came for a kid's birthday party, very great attendant and the pool had a lot of fun for the kids! I like that there are separate lanes for making laps too.

Came here on a Sunday around 3:00 with my toddler nephew to spend some time in the pool - the lady at the front desk was wonderfully kind and we appreciated it!

Great place to workout, swim, and play basketball. They offer a wide variety of services. On-site daycare and play areas for smaller children. Friendly and helpful staff make this a must visit place.
