Don,Coming across your review was very eye-opening and has persuaded me to discontinue my business with Barrett Hardware. My husband and I planned on visiting the store today and while browsing business hours, we couldn't help but to read your review. Reading about your mistreatment is horrifying especially because it probably wasn't his first time displaying belligerent, ignorant behavior. I will definitely spread your story to other known paying customers. I am beyond disgusted and disappointed with this establishment!

I visited the Joliet location today to purchase some HVAC materials for a home project. I no longer live in that area so I was unaware that they no longer service the general public. I seen the sign on the door stating business to business sales only so I figured maybe I’ll open an account since I still have property in that area. Moreover, I have an account with Munch, Banner, Porter Pipe, Mid-lakes just to name a few. But most of my business is in the Chicagoland area. However, I entered the will call entrance and rang the bell per the signage for service. A gentleman came out along with a dog and he asked in a very rude and unprofessional manner “What do you want” I started explaining my request and he raised his voice at me asking if I had an account. I answered no but! At that point he cut me off and said in a very loud disrespectful tone “Get out of here” At first I thought he was kidding because he chuckled when I asked if he was serious. I told him that I’ve purchased several items from this establishment and as a matter of fact I came there when a relative of mines worked there recommended the company. He went in to say He’s never seen me but Get Out Of Here as if I was less that a human being! His actions were very disturbing and somewhat scary! Moreover, utterly humiliating to say the least! I left the establishment peacefully and tried to call the main number to file an complaint towards him for his actions. This incident occurred today around 12pm. Was unable to reach anyone until approximately 3:15pm when a very nice and professional gentleman name Andrew field my call. I asked if the manager was available he stated that he in fact was. As I went on to explain what occurred today, to my surprise he informed me that that gentleman was the big boss! Very bad experience. I’m a Veteran and fought for my country proudly! Never thought I’d have a young man talk to me like that at 57 years of age in a supposedly professional working environment! I’ve been a Power plant manager for DTE and Regional Chief Engineer for over 35 years now and never have I ever been humiliated in such manner by or on the premises of any contractor, vendor or supply company. I’m born an raised in Joliet. Remember Barrett’s as a kid when my uncle and other family members patronized this establishment. Hell they were pretty much the only place in town. And now this! Don the very unhappy potential customer!

Awful business, it's run terribly. Owner is absent it seems, and the son doesn't care much to be helpful, or courteous. Would love to help small businesses, but this one shouldn't be helped.

Bought husqavarna leaf blower there that was defective from the get go, tried to take it in to get it sorted out. Was told they don’t carry the brand anymore, couldn’t return it, couldn’t get it fixed and wouldn’t even exchange it for the 4 that they had on the shelf. Tried to support local, should of went elsewhere

Great customer service and top quality products. I purchased a Husqvarna backpack blower. This product was by far a better quality and had more power than anything found in the “big box†stores. I also purchased from Barrett Industrial Supply a new Husqvarna walk behind string trimmer. The best quality and so much better than my previous. The guys at Barrett's made it easy and were very helpful. Next time I need new lawn equipment, there's no other place I would go. 5 star rating.

This is a business to business supply store also open to general public. Good stock of professional grade tools safety equipment and general stock of items. This store also sells lawn equipment. If you are not buying for a business, This is where you can get tools and supplies that are more heavy duty than you would find a a place like a ace hardware.
