“Aldi's in Litchfield is definitely one of the better places to shop locally for groceries. If you're a resident of one of the smaller nearby towns like Staunton, the local grocery stores can be outrageous... Aldi's provides a great alternative. I first started using them while living in St Louis. It was even more affordable there than the Aldi's in Litchfield. This was in part due to the fact that groceries tend to be a little lower in Missouri. Additionally it seems like the "worse" the area the lower grocery prices seem to be.
The majority of the non name brand items are just as good in my opinion. It's sometimes the case that off brands aren't as good as your household names. However I've never had that experience with the items that I personally buy .
While granted they might not have a large selection of some things such as cereals, they make up for it an affordability.
The meat is where I find a lot of my savings. For anyone on a budget, or with a family, you can't go wrong shopping here.
If you happen to be on food stamps and or on a fixed income, they're the best place to stock up on your essentials.
Here's a couple of things that appeal to me because they allow me to fill my ice box and always have something there in case my money gets low and can't afford to do any more shopping
For ten dollars you get a large thing of chicken breasts that I can separate into several freezer bags and use through the month.
The breakfast sandwiches and waffles or pancakes if you prefer are half the price of brands such as Jimmy Dean . So for 30 or so I can fill up the doors on the top part of my refrigerator with convenient breakfast food. It is great for anyone single or with children.
I can spend a couple hundred dollars here every month and live off that whole month if I needed to. If there's more in your household than there is in my household, spending this much money might not get you by all month but it will definitely put a major dent in what you need throughout the month so that's all I need to spend smaller amounts on your food budgeting. On hand if I find myself not buying my initial groceries here I always end up exceeding what I have budgeted monthly for groceries.”
