THIS HOTEL ISN'T ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC. EVEN IF YOU MAKE A RESERVATION SUCCESSFULLY. Despite apparently not being open to the public, there wasn't enough notice to indicate to me when I booked the reservation that this was the case.
Nearby activities: Argonne National Lab is an amazing facility worth visiting on a tour!

Don’t stay here unless you have to. This place is deceptively old. It seems to be struggling to stay open and is considerably rough compared to modern standards. The staff does what they can with what they have.

This property is located on the campus of Argonne National Laboratory and is used by guests and visitors of this Laboratory. It is also used by the users of the Scientific User Facilities like the Advanced Photon Source (APS) It is a short walk to the APS. There is a restaurant on the premises.

It’s a convenient place to stay when you visit ANL and if you like walking around. I didn’t drive but it’s just 20 minutes walking distance from the main entrance. You can also ride the shared bike after getting a helmet from the front desk. The room is not fancy as business hotel but good enough for me. I actually like the breakfast and lunch here. In the night time you can walk around and see the fireflies arise from the wild grasses around. Staffs are also super friendly in a laidback way.

Nice place to stay if you are a student. More than enough if you don’t have any other choice. Lovely king size bed in standard room. The room has hair dryer, coffee maker, tv, towels, clothes ironing stuff, but no slippers and fridge for you to consider. The guest house has public microwave and washing machines in the 1st floor. The staffs are kind, friendly, and helpful. Lyft and Uber driver can enter the site but make sure the driver can show their US ID card to the front gate security. This guest house also has open area with white board that is great for group discussion. The breakfast in the restaurant are delicious. I hope I can visit here again in the future.

The rooms are comfortable but very old. Coffee making setup in the room, but spectacularly bad coffee. Shower head is way too low if you are of normal (Dutch) height. Restaurant not open for dinner but breakfast is fine. Staff are friendly.Walkability: Not walkable at all. Bring a car!

The location is convenient to the a Advanced Photon Source, but otherwise it is isolated. There are few amenities, so having a car is a must. The room was clean and comfortable. It's very quiet since there is nothing nearby.Rooms: Clean, basic.Nearby activities: NoneSafety: Very safe, since there are security guards at the main gate.Walkability: Easy to walk to APS but not much else.Food & drinks: Breakfast is available for a fee. Good delivery is also possible. Restaurant is not open for lunch or dinner.

Rooms are not clean. Someone's long hairs in the bathtub and around. Disgusting! Coffee in the lobby is gone.

This place has gotten strikingly bad since their post-COVID reopening. It's the original, now 30 year old construction and furnishings which are starting to show their age, that's somewhat out of management's control. What is inexcusable: The staff are simply rude and unhelpful across the board, requests are met with scolding, making a reservation is a challenge, checking in an interrogation. There is no housekeeping service and no mechanism to replace towels/shampoo/linens/etc - not that this is really that much of a loss as the starting cleanliness of the room is highly questionable. The restaurant, once reasonably good, is closed (forever?), the 'breakfast' is not worth a second glance - stale Little Debbie pastry handed out across a counter as if by the guards in a gulag. And for all that they've raised prices above per diem. I used to stay here for every visit to Argonne, but there's simply no sense in doing so - just stay offsite.

Be careful if you get here in September, we were there during the first week that Argonne had switched the building over the summer A/C, so none of the rooms had actual cold air. Was in the high 70s outside, which made the rooms pretty hot, even at night. Had to sleep without any covers. Otherwise great location for APS users to stay, ignoring the temperature issue. Might want to call ahead and ask what the status of the A/C will be.

We (the whole building) had no hot water for the first 3 days during our beamtime. The restaurant was not open and even so there was no microwave or refrigerator in the room. We had to drive out for food so it didn't help much staying here.
