If you want shoddy craftsmanship and employees that don't care, look no further than Lake Zurich Jewelers! If you're really lucky, they may even destroy what should have been one of the greatest days of your life, absolutely free!My husband wanted to surprise me for our anniversary by having my engagement ring repaired and resized. Unfortunately, his good intentions were blown to hell by an uncaring staff and poor quality work.When my husband brought my ring home, we were both horrified. The band was totally destroyed. It actually looked like someone crushed it between their fingers. The replacement stones in the setting looked dull and cheap with several obvious blemishes.When we called to complain, the man on the phone was uncaring and sarcastic. He blamed his own lack of skill on ME saying I had not taken proper care of the ring. He said that was the best that could be done. So not only is this place inept, they are also dishonest. I brought my ring to another jeweler who is currently in the process of fixing what LZ did to it. Needless to say, LZ Jewelers refused to refund our money.With all the competition out there, you would think a family-owned small business would care about keeping new customers happy. In my experience, they just don't. This was our first visit to LZ Jewelers. Needless to say, it was also our last.

Went there to get my mom's watch band made smaller. She is 92 and in a wheelchair. I asked the gentleman, I know this is a big ask but could you size it for my mom in our car since it is raining. He said no problem and cheerfully followed me to our car. He took measurements and then returned 5 minutes later to have her check the adjustment. Mom was pleased. I went in to pay the $10 and asked if I could add a tip. I was told I could and added another $10 for in the car service and in the rain. I will forever go there now. I have been to 2 others in LZ but these guys were so happy and accommodating. 94 East Main Street, Lake Zurich

Butchered the band of an engagement ring & then blamed the ring. See the before and after picture I've attached.We live within walking distance & have used them in the past. For the most important job, a vintage Art Deco engagement ring I searched the world for & asked to have resized, this store displayed the greatest level of incompetence, zero accountability, and unprofessional rude behavior. "Have fun," I was told when I said I was calling the kid's father.Juan was out of the country & one of his sons did the work. He clearly had no idea how to work on a piece of this age but did it anyway & permanently destroyed the history & etching within the bottom 40% of the band. 100 year old artistry - gone forever, no matter where the next repairs will take us.Avoid at all costs.

This Jeweler is the best. I went into their store with my ring that the center diamond and cluster of stones around it had fallen out and were lost. They worked diligently in finding a center stone that I was happy with and was within my budget. The cluster of stones around the diamond are identical to what I had! I've had other jewelry repaired there and everything has turned out lovely. I highly recommend this family jewelry store! Deb Carroll

We so highly recommend the Lake Zurich Jewelers! They did an incredible job on my engagement ring. Juan worked with us from start to finish to make a custom ring that was everything we wanted and more. He educated us along the way and made sure it was exactly what we envisioned. We are so thankful to them for making our engagement so special, we look forward to working with them in the future for our wedding jewelry!

I brought my ring to get it recoated since it's white gold and had some normal wear on it. I was thrilled with the results! I wish I had a before and after picture, when Juan brought my ring back out, I didn't recognize it was mine at first because it looked so new (but actually though) Thank you again! I wouldn't hesitate to come here. Juan and his family are very welcoming and provide superior customer service.

We had a wonderful experience working with the Lake Zurich Jewelers! All of the owners are a pleasure to work with, but my family and I mainly worked with Juan Jr. He is the BEST, and here’s why we would highly recommend the Lake Zurich Jewelers:1. Juan stayed within our budget the entire process, and even tried to keep it below my high end while shopping for an engagement ring!2. When it came to the 4 C’s, he was super transparent about how compensating on one C will effect the center stone and gave solid suggestions on which ones we might want to consider lowering first3. Juan can custom make any designs you are looking for! You can bring in your Pinterest boards or other pictures online, and he’s able to make your design with great attention to detail and qualityBottom line, you can go to a brand name jeweler and pay for the brand, and feel like you’re walking through a revolving door, or work with the Lake Zurich Jewelers and know you’ll be taken great care of! The quality of their work is amazing. In addition, Juan continuously checked in during the entire process to ensure this is something I was going to love by the time we were finished, and our ring definitely is!Even if you’re not looking for something as pricey as an engagement ring, they have beautiful pieces and are also to repair both fine and costume jewelry. Give them a try, you’ll be more than pleasantly surprised!

Looking back at my reviews just now, I realized I never updated this review. Absolutely still a 5 star experience. We DID purchase my engagement ring from Juan 6 years ago, and I have been back to the shop a number of times both for maintenance/cleaning, and a few other jewelry needs. Excellent service and experience every time. This is my jeweler for as long as Juan and his family are serving our community.
