Well-maintained trails with multiple benches along the loop if you need to take a break. The water fountain near the parking lot was not operational.

Great 2 year old birthday party. Shelter B was clean! Great playground area. Beautiful surroundings.

This is a public park and no tickets required but if you want to utilize the shelter, we need to register.
The best part of this park is incredible track and You can feel that you are walking in a forest.
Kids play area is decent and suitable for all ages.
Enough public restrooms and they are well maintained.

Great park for walking,with awesome views, kids and pets friendly. The only problem we got ticks. When we were sitting on the bench by the kids play area i saw a tick on my leg. We decided to check the dog and found 30-40 of them all over her. We're talking 8lbs small hypoallergenic puppy. When we got home I found 4 more on our clothes and 2 in my girlfriend's hair. We barely walked on the grass since all the alleys are covered by stones. The grass looked like it was just cut a couple of days before that so it was very well scaped. I'm not sure if someone is responsible for spraying for ticks at this park and that's why I'm leaving the 4 star review because it was very beautiful place

Nicely-kept trail. This is one of the conservation areas that we frequently walk in since it has a good loop with good shaded areas, and open areas as well if you prefer the sunshine.They also have a good sized playground for both kids and big kids ?

Love this playground, very cool elevated playground in a beautiful nature setting. Trails and restrooms are right by it too.

Pleasant clean attended a birthday party at the Pavilion which was nice water available and bathrooms nearby it was a nice little ride through Long Grove love the town always something going down unfortunately didn't get to experience the whole Park but will definitely return and if you're using Google they're going to want to send you down Cuba to an entrance that no longer exists best to use the one on Old McHenry

Great place for a walk! Be advised to check your dogs afterwards during tick season! Mine had multiples on her.

When we found this preserve 5 years ago, I thought I was in heaven. It was very green and clean. And looked like real "forest". But last year I notices that the forest becomes less and less "foresty". And, today I was simply shocked to see that many healthy normal trees were cut and even the ground was burned, so, most likely, nothing will grow there. Lake County Forest preserve ruined yet another nice preserve. I won't be coming to Heron again.

Great place to walk. Trails are wide and dry. Terrain is rolling and varied. Parking and shelter at the top of the hill usually have more room.
